Baby grunting after eating

Jack is a great sleeper and eater until 2am hits. After that whether given formula or bf he will grunt and moan and toss and turn (as much as a 3 week old can). He's so loud but manages to sleep through it. We have tried burping and gripe water but nothing really helps. Anyone else going through this?

  • Yup my LO does that too. Keeps us awake at night a lot. It helps if we keep him up an angle, or in his swing

  • Mine is a grunter but it doesn't start until he starts thinking about being hungry. He grunts while eating too but not after. He's too busy spitting up apparently.

  • Ditto what others said, if he were hurting he'd definitely let you know.  Newborns are often just sort of loud sleepers....

  • Another grunter here!  My husband asked when it stops...I don't remember, anyone know? I only remember it in the early days though.

  • Ds is another big grunter, all day, but especially after his last night feeding. I asked the pedi about it today and he was not concerned. Maybe gas or a little reflux, but not a big deal at this point. The grunting is pretty funny. We get some looks when he does it in public :-)

  • My little girl makes so many noises all the time. She's quiet vocal ;) I'm sure your LO is fine and his noises are more of a concern to you that to him.
