Shark vs. Dyson

That's right ladies, the ramfan household is in the market for a new vacuum, woohoo!

Right now, I'm trying to decide between the Dyson Animal and the Shark Rocket Pro. Any one have either one of these and want to chime in?  So far I'm leaning toward the Shark simply because of the price difference, though the Dyson is not out of the question. Obviously, we have two kids, but we also have a huge dog who sheds 365 days a year, so I do a lot of vacuuming!

I have the Shark Nav Lift Away Pro. I have so much dog hair, it's unreal. This thing sucks it up, even a weeks worth!
That's good to know, because after a whole week I could probably make a whole new dog out of all the fur that would be in my house!

  • my dream is to own a dyson! but they're so expensive  :((
we do have a Shark Navigator and i love it. I clean houses on the side for extra cash and it does awesome with the heavy use. and its actually a hand me down. so I'm assuming a new one would work even better!

  • I have a shark professional lift away and it's awesome. It works on all surfaces and picks up everything. Also it's really easy to go from vacuum to attachments. Its actually rated higher than the Dyson and is half the price. Best.vacuum. ever.

The lift away feature does seem really nice for doing things like stairs. And you really can't beat the price. There are two shark vacuums on sale at Target right now, plus 5% off with the Red Card. With all the positive reviews for the Shark, and it being SO much cheaper than the Dyson, I'm definitely leaning more towards the Shark now.

It's great for doing stairs and is pretty light weight. It really is an awesome vacuum and not that expensive. I don't know what the sale price is at target but I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% coupon so I got it for $200 (normally $250).
