December 2014 Moms

Anyone else have a quiet baby all of the sudden?

So, at almost 24 weeks I thought movement was supposed to be getting stronger and more consistent... But for the last week or so (been waiting it out) baby has been very quiet.

From 18-22 weeks, I felt him all day long. Sometimes it'd be a few hours, but never a day went by without feeling him. Right when I got to 23 weeks, I went 2 days without feeling him. Since then, I've felt him maybe a couple times a day, but the movements seem fainter and harder to notice.
Should I be worried? Google gives me conflicting advice. Thought I'd see if anyone else out there has/is experiencing this. :/

TIA.

If you're worried I'd recommend giving your doctor a call.  Better to be safe....

Yeah I hate feeling like I'm calling for stupid reasons though. LO has a history of facing toward my spine, which would block movement, but it didn't effect things too much earlier on, so why would it now? I'm very torn, I just want to see if this is semi normal before putting a call in.
  • Do you have an anterior placenta? I have one and notice that if LO is on my right side, I don't feel it very often/strongly, but as soon as he moves to my left... the ninja style kicks commence...

If you are concerned though, I would definitely call the doctor.

No I'm 100% posterior. :( yeah, I might just call. I was hoping to hear a "yeah that's totally normal don't worry about it!" But since I'm not I should probably call.
  • I have definitely noticed some quieter days where he seems to be less active. But it usually picks up again by the end of the day or the next. I'd give your OB a call, just to calm the nerves.

  • I have a Doppler, and I picked up his HB. It sounded like, farther away? Almost echo-y? So hopefully it's just his positioning. Still gonna put a call in.
  • I think most OB doctors are used to questions like that and wouldn't think you are stupid for asking. I would call if you are concerned.

  • I think it's certainly reasonable to call. Since you're able to easily pick up a HB on doppler, they may not have you come in, but they may be able to reassure you it's perfectly normal due to positioning or whatever. Hugs, I know it is stressful!

  • I'm having a quiet day today too. If it's been awhile an you're feeling concerned, then definitely call your doc. It will at least give you some peace of mind.

I agree call your doctor to be safe... But on my info I get printed from the doctor said around 24 weeks it will start feeing like jabs then the rolling movement... I don't know but just an idea maybe the movement is changing and it feels different... But I had a few day stretch where I felt like I was not feeling the baby as well but he is moving again
  • I'm also a few days shy of 24 weeks. LO is still very unpredictable. Sometimes she has a 12 hour dance party but I can also go a few days without feeling her move much. Do you have a doppler? I still use it when I don't feel her for a couple of days just to ease my mind.

  • My doctor told me that he would rather me ring his phone off the hook than not be watching my babies signs of movement. :) your doctor will absolutely not care.... I think most pregnant women become hypocondriacs anyway. It's a motherly thing.

  • @Slaps‌ I did, they said since I was able to find his HB they weren't concerned and the duller, low movements are probably due to his positioning. He's very much favored facing my spine, breech, so I guess it makes sense. Us mamas never stop worrying once we start though, right?
