Birthday Party Food Help

We are doing a circus theme for DS's birthday party on Saturday.  I was going to make nachos but keep it simple and just do some chips and cheese or cheese dip (with meat).

Would you do both or just one?  Do you have any recipes?

We are also having hot dogs, corn dogs, popcorn, soft pretzels, and maybe watermelon.  Plus cupcakes and homemade ice cream, sno cones and circus peanuts.
I was also thinking of doing cotton candy or barnums animal crackers for the party favor?  Which would you do?  Plus they get a prize for each game.

Does this sound good?

Re: Birthday Party Food Help

  • Sounds SOOO cute! You already have WAY more food items that I would have attempted but it all sounds good. I would do animal crackers for the favor. I would just do plain chips with nacho cheese dip, no meat. Maybe have peppers that grown ups can add, if grown ups are coming.

  • Animal crackers are the perfect favor. I would probably skip the nachos since you have so much other food. For DD's third birthday which was a carnival theme, we did a hot dog cart with chips, had a popcorn machine and then did cake and cupcakes with ice cream and it was plenty. I also had a veggie platter with homemade buttermilk dill dip and hummus I think.
  • Wow, that sounds awesome, perfect for the theme! You could even just do nacho chips with salsa, that would be good too.

  • If you want to do the nachos you could do rotel dip.  Through in a package of velveeta, lb or less of hamburger and can of rotel.  You could also get that ghel's (I think that's the brand??) cheese dip at sam's club or Costco and just heat.  They are super processed and not healthy but it's a party. ;)    I would definitely say you have a lot of food without it.  Get rid of whatever causes you the most stress!  I would get some of those little boxes of animal crackers and have that be the favor.

  • We had a crock pot of chili that people could use for either the hot dogs or the nachos. It was a pretty easy and cheap addition.
