Cramping! >:| *UPDATE* :)

I know this has been addressed, but that everyone is different so I'm wondering what others braxton hicks feel like. This morning I woke up with such sharp cramps on my lower left side that have, within the hour, spread to being fully across my lower abdomen and into the left side of my back and they HURT LIKE HELL! I was late for work and doubled over half the morning AND am not able to get into my OB until later today. I didn't notice my stomach getting hard like others have discussed, just lots of stabbing pain. I used my home Doppler and was at least able to hear a good strong heartbeat :)  but it lasted for about an hour. I'm sitting now and it's faded for a few minutes but starting to cramp up again. Probably just one of the million things that can go on during pregnancy...but wondered if anyone else had experienced this.

UPDATE: I guess I'm fine....SURE DIDNT FEEL FINE. She said it was RLP and that it's common for it to feel intense and spread to your lower back like it did. This pain woke me up and lasted for a solid hour:| OH WELL...thanks for all the well wishes and concerns, ladies :)

If that was RLP...I'm not at all interested in child birth. No thanks.

Re: Cramping! >:| *UPDATE* :)

  • Not debilitating, but the last two days I had some pretty menstrual-like cramps that were quite uncomfortable and didn't go away with laying down. They also radiated into my legs and back.  I'm pretty sure it was RLP because it's gone today after some yoga but she's still kicking and wriggling around in there.  I'm only a couple days ahead of you and we must be at that stage where they are having a growth spurt.

But good to see your doctor anyway.  I don't think RLP should hurt that bad.

  • Ouch. Did you get up weird or sleep differently last night? I have had some moments lately where the bottom
of my belly is painful and some menstrual-like cramps in my thighs. They usually last about 30 minutes. I've noticed drinking water helps a lot. Just in case call labor and delivery. Feel better and keep us posted.
  • Not bh. Contractions?

  • Ouch!  Best to call the doc and see what's what and if you should go in or go to L&D.

  • Not bh. Contractions?

That's what I was thinking too. FTM here, I have no idea what contractions feel like, so I have nothing to compare.

  • I have had some annoying BH for several weeks now, they aren't painful though. I hope you find some relief soon! Keep us posted!!
  • I think you should go to the doctor if it's hurting that bad if anything for peace of mind. :) Keep us posted. I've had some mild pinch-like pain in my lower abdomen but it goes away w/ rest. This morning I'm having like a runner's cramp feeling - thinking it's gas, the joys of pregnancy!! I'm sure it's RL pain and you are just fine! :)

  • Rlp pain isn't all that painful. It's crampy but not stop you in your tracks pain. That sounds more like contractions to me. Some have contractions for a long time prior to birth.

I've heard of rl pain doubling you over ... I haven't had it myself - but it's described as a sharp or dull pain - either one. Agree that BH contractions aren't super painful though.

  • Ouch! You poor thing!! My BH feel like I was trying to flex and show off the six pack I don't have.: my belly gets rock solid.. And literally I feel like I'm flexing. There's no pain at all for me. I'm glad you're seeing the doc this week .. Hopefuly they'll have some answers to what's causing you that pain. My guess would be contractions or RLP.. But keep us posted!

  • Keep us posted. If you are in lots of pain please go to L&D!
  • TBH, I feel a lot better now. Like I said, the pain lasted for close to an hour but all seems to be well now. I'll be seeing my OB later but until then I'm sitting at my desk feeling LO break dance. Thanks ladies! FTM here...no idea what my body is doing lol.

  • In response to the RLP comments, I had a few days of RLP pain that kept me doubled over. I was fine if sitting or laying down, but couldn't stand up straight it hurt so bad or even pick up my foot to put on a shoe. Can definitely be painful.,

    I'm assuming this, now. BLEH!

  • Yes they hurt but I'm glad that's all it was. Hope you don't have it again!
