October 2014 Moms

VBAC Check-In

We are getting closer!  It's been a few weeks so thought it'd be good to check in with everyone again.
This check-in is for O14 moms who are planning/hoping for a VBAC or those who are still deciding between a RCS and a VBAC.

How far along are you?

Where are you in your decision making process at this point?

How are you feeling about a VBAC?  Any new updates to share since our last check-in?

How far along are you? 33 weeks

Where are you in your decision making process at this point? The only thing that could potentially change my plan to try for a VBAC is if I go more than 41 weeks.

How are you feeling about a VBAC?  Any new updates to share since our last check-in?  I've been feeling really positive lately.  At my last check-up, baby was head down and my BP was perfect... two things that have been on mind mind a lot these days.

I ordered the Hypnobabies VBAC CD.  It should be here in a couple of weeks.  Has anyone tried it or heard anything about it?

34 weeks today. Only 42 days to go!
Where are you in your decision making process at this point?
I still firmly want a VBAC
How are you feeling about a VBAC?  Any new updates to share since our last check-in?
I have a dr. appt today, and I need to ask him how/if this bleeding and placenta tear will effect his plans for my VBAC.  I'm really hoping it doesn't.

Where are you in your decision making process at this point? still hoping for a VBAC my next appt is Friday going to discuss how long they'll let me go without a section BUT I really don't want to go past my due date

How are you feeling about a VBAC?  Any new updates to share since our last check-in? Good, feeling like I could push a baby out of my vagina (in four more weeks). No new updates to update.

I'm told most vbacs go past due, so I hope that won't change your outcome if you don't go into labor by 40w!

    I am 32w

I'm feeling good about my VBAC though the unknown still makes me nervous as I never really labored with DD. I hired a doula. My doctor said he'd like me to go into labor before 41w and he wont induce me, but once said a foley bulb has no increase risk of UR, so I need to clarify what the plan will be. I do not want to be cut without trying induction first if it came down to it!

I always said I wanted drugs but now I'm really thinking I'm going to play it be ear and really try to hold off on asking for them, if at all. Being strapped to the bed was the worst with DD!

How are you feeling about a VBAC?  Any new updates to share since our last check-in?  I am getting really nervous about how my 1 1/2 year old will be while in hospital and if my in-laws will actually help out.

I'm planning on having a VBAC as long as it's a safe option.

One of the hospitals around here that had a doctor known for having successful VBACs, just banned them.  I don't think my hospital will do this, but it still makes me nervous.  I''m not sure if I'd be a special case since I've already had one successful VBAC.
I'm also kind of nervous that baby is breech like my 1st DS.

@ariel06, Do you know why they banned them?  That seems so strange, like it's going backward from the way the school of thought on VBACs seems to be moving toward.  Just curious!

Like @ashie0610, if 41 weeks rolls around then decisions may change.

How are you feeling about a VBAC?  Any new updates to share since our least check-in?
Meeting with a doula on Wednesday to hopefully improve my chances of a successful VBAC.   Also, apparently kid is already head down so that's good news!

They're claiming it's an HR issue.

Wow, so frustrating for those patients, I'm sure.  Hopefully your hospital doesn't go the same route, although I agree you'd probably be a special case having had a VBAC already.

Getting closer to knowing the plan. Probably 75%RCS, 25%VBAC
How are you feeling about a VBAC?  Any new updates to share since our last check-in?
Had a BPP u/s today to see how LO was measuring. Head was around 85%, other measurements were high as well. So, we will be talking to my dr on Wednesday about the results and I have another u/s at 36 weeks to check again. But at this point I'm thinking I will end up with another CS. I'm thinking of scheduling it a little after my due date to see if I go into labor naturally as I don't want the increased risks with induction.

ETA: I know its still early and baby could move by then, but he is also breech at the moment so that plays a factor in it too now.

  • I am 31 weeks and a few days.

I am still pretty adamant about a VBAC.

I have an OB appointment on Friday to go over our birth plan. I have a lot of questions for her. I really don't want to be forced to lay down the entire time to be monitored. I hear that sometimes that is the case. I definitely want to be monitored intermittently, but I hate those monitors and can't imagine being stuck in bed for that long.I guess we'll see how it goes!

  • Well, the good news is *if* I have no more bleeding I can do my VBAC.  The bad news is even one instance of spotting will mean a rcs.

  • I'm still ambivalent. I know I don't want an induction, and very little, if any, augmentation. I haven't scheduled anything yet but have a date in mind. I want to avoid anything that could make me need an epidural, only because I know how I react to them. I'm hoping my weird labor was a fluke but there's no way to know until it happens.

I will be relieved if something comes along that forces my hand, TBH. I don't want to make the decision!

Yikes!  FX you don't have to deal with anymore of it!
