At 14 weeks I had one so badly that nothing but two doses of morphine would make it go away. I tried everything at home....cold compresses, caffeine, Tylenol and eventually even pain pills prescribed by my Dr(which actually made it worse.) I was unable to eat, sleep or function, I really thought I might die!! Mine was so bad I never could have typed on a computer so I knew the ER was my only option. Good luck and I hope it goes away soon!!

  • My doc prescribed me Fioricet, so when I have a migraine I take my dose of that, a dose of Benadryl  (for extra sleeping power), I have a roll-on migraine stick that has lavender and peppermint oil (LOVE THAT SHIT!) and I cover my forehead, behind my ears, and back of my neck. Then I put a cold rice pack on my forehead or whatever side hurts more and lay down in my bedroom with a fan running and the blackout curtains drawn.

I have chronic migraines (first migraine was when I was 7 :(  ) and I have a system down pat, lol. The roll-on is this one- https://www.amazon.com/Health-From-The-Sun-My-Grastick/dp/B000WSLF0E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408285878&sr=8-1&keywords=mygrastick

I hope you get some relief soon! Go to the ER if you need to!

  • The Aveda Blue Oil stick is a lifesaver. I had migraines frequently during my first trimester and that -- along with a dark room -- was the only respite I had. Good luck!
  • Thank you ladies! Its so difficult trying to function with one. I also just read online that rubbing tea tree oil helps ... At this point I'm willing to try anything and everything

  • I'm so sorry!  The only thing that helps me with migraines is Aveda blue oil roller ball.  I was very skeptical when I was told to try it, but I was so desperate that I gave it a try and it was a life saver.  I don't go anywhere without it.

It is basically a peppermint oil that has a heating and cooling effect, similar to icy hot.    You roll it on your head where the center point of your migraine is.

I'm so sorry that you are struggling with this right now and I hope it gets better soon.
  • DoTerra Past Tense Essential Oil has been my life saver. My Dr, checked it out and said it was safe for baby, Also, a COLD COLD ice pack right on my forehead helped also. Good luck, hope you find some relief soon!!
  • I've read that epsom salt baths can help. Something about your body absorbing the magnesium. When I have one I try everything and so I never know what exactly does the trick, but I normally will take a warm epsom salt bath with the lights low and have a cold compress on my forehead or base of my skull. I'm definitely trying that roll on stick though! Good luck, I know how bad they suck. I've been lucky and have only had a couple this pregnancy though.
