Baby length at hospital

I thought i posted this but im not seeing it. Sorry if this is a double post

At the hospital they measured DS2 at 18 1/2 inches. I thought it seemed pretty short. At the dr appt at 5 days old they measured him 3 different times and he was 19 1/2 inches. We know he didn't grow an inch in 5 days. So when people ask and for announcements would you use the official hospital length or the correct length?

We got different lengths too - longer at the hospital than at her doctor's appointment, so either she shrank or the hospital staff can't measure.

I believe it's used for both percentile and to track growth both of which the Dr will use the meaurements that they took.

With DD they measured her to be 21.5 inches at the hospital and then only 20.75 at her first appt. I went with the hospital weight but who knows which one was actually right. Babies are very hard to measure. Use whichever one you like.

This happened to me with DS, so I went with the one written on his bassinet id card, since that card was going on his baby book, and his photo album.

Same thing happened to us...20in in the hospital and 18.5in at his first appt. 4 days later. He was back up to 20" at his 2 week checkup. I'm going with 20 on announcements.
