Grandma Thinks Photos of Baby in Roasting Pan are Funny, CPS Not So Sure.

An Ohio woman who posted some controversial Facebook photos of her baby granddaughter—one in a roasting pan surrounded by potatoes and one with a pacifier duct-taped into her mouth—is surprised that Child Protective Services didn't get her hilarious jokes.

Facebook friends of the grandma, Jackie Sheaks, alerted CPS and local sheriffs about the photos, and she says both agencies came to her West Columbus home to check on the baby's well-being.

"It started as just a joke; we put a little tape on the pacifier because we were being silly. We wanted to share it with friends because everybody that knows us, knows we play around like that," Sheaks told Central Ohio's 10TV.

No charges have been filed against the grandparents, but Sheaks' husband, Tommy, says they've been suffering so much online harassment since the photos went viral that "we almost feel like we have to relocate."

Sheaks says she'll never take photos like this again, even though she thinks they're funny and everyone in the family has always liked them. She's learned her lesson, she says—not that there was anything wrong with the photos, but that other people are too uptight.

"What we think is funny, other people don't," she told 10TV.

    I think the duct tape is a little much and side-eye worthy.  CPS worthy? ehhh.  The roasting pan has been done before and I think it'd only qualify as a problem if the oven was on... 

    As far as "jokes" go, these aren't terrible.  This is terrible...This is really terrible.  Sorry in advanced.

    Umm, this is stupid. Why does she thinks this is funny? A baby in a roasting pan isn't funny, it is just dumb and probably very uncomfortable. Duck tape on the face is ridiculous and would hurt when it is pulled off, not to mention it gets the chemicals from the sticky on the baby's skin. W. T. F. People. 

    Edit - I agree, maybe not CPS worthy, but still really stupid.

    Yeah, it's not funny.  I'd judge for the duct tape.  I've seen pictures of babies in pans before so I don't really have feelings on it.

    the pan is funny. the duct tape is not...but not cps worthy. it sounds like they are fun grandparents....and don't intend any harm..they just didn't understand social media, and the power it has. i feel bad for the grandparents.

    I saw this and the duct tape pisses me off! If I put that on my skin I would break out with a rash, never mind a poor baby. The roasting pan is nbd in my opinion, I mean the veggies are a little much, but it's just a pic. But the duct tape? Oh hell no.

    The roasting pan, is whatever. I can see the humor in it. But all that duct tape on a baby's delicate skin makes me cringe.

    I wouldn't have thought to put my child in a pan with veggies, but the picture in itself would make me think, "that is weird" not "let me call CPS."

    The duct tape one is the one that gets me. The irritants on the the tape itself and the fact that it will have to be pulled off just makes it terrible.

    I don't think the grandparents had ill intentions, but that one was a little too far.

    The pan doesn't bother me I mean for Christmas we had a picture of DS in a large mixing bowl surrounded by flower and cookie cutters on the table and my niece holding a whisk sitting beside him. I agree the veggies are a bit much! The duct tape uh no! I agree with the chemicals and how much that would hurt to come off. I do get what they were trying to say with the picture but just the wrong way completely. I'm not so sure I would think CPS worthy. I do think they seem like fun grandparents just not so updated on things. I think as a parent I would have a big conversation with them but I don't see that they were intentionally trying to hurt the baby.

    I've seen what happens in that documentary Jawbreaker.

    No mention of what the child's parents thought. But "family members" get it.

    I feel like they are CPS worthy because if they are using this bad of judgement on FB then possibly they are endangering the child and CPS should come check on that

    If my parents duct taped my baby's paci in his mouth, I would be pissed. That is just not safe or smart and definitely not funny at all.

    The duct tape picture totally creeps me out.  The baby looks like Hannibal Lecter and then they are going to eat the baby for dinner?  Totally creepy.

    Based on their style of joke from the roasting pan, I think the pacifier/duct tape was a 10 second joke they thought would be funny. I don't think it was long enough to spit up, and I don't think they are "doing anything worse", it was just a joke in poor taste. But of course, I could be wrong, just my opinion based on the one other photo.

    I think they lack judgement and prior to this incident would post whatever on Facebook. Now they won't.

    The backlash from this going viral though... The parents are getting hate and feel like they have to relocate? Come on. It's not right to put the duct tape on the baby but that's blowing it out of proportion... Welcome to the internet, grandma.

    I agree with all if this. Those pictures gave me the major sads. Duct tape on sensitive baby face skin? I would have called CPS, I take these things hard
