  • I'd like to join in! My husband had some sort of nose infection when we first met, and it was a few months before I worked up the courage to ask him about it. I finally dragged him to the dr. and a single round of antibiotics took care of it. Know how long he had that infection before we met? THREE YEARS. He also has vague stomach issues, for the last 5 years or so. Probably because he eats almost zero fruits or vegs. I just bought more life insurance for him.
  • While I genuinely empathize with how frustrating it can be when a loved one doesn't seek medical attention, I can't get over the title of this thread. It's disgusting even in jest. Can you imagine the backlash if a man wrote anything in reference to "straight up murdering" his wife?
Well A: it's how I talk and B: it's the exact phrase I used to H when I spoke with him prior to posting this thread.

No need to be sensitive here. It's my sense of humor.

I just see it as tasteless as someone who says "I'd kill myself" facetiously. But whatevs

  • I hope that your hubs is okay! My DH went to Vegas for his brother's bachelor party and was complaining about a headache when he came home. He remembered the next morning that he had fallen while drinking and hit his head on the corner of the pool and fell into the water... 2 days previously. When he went of the ER, they were kind enough to tell him that he could have died on the plane ride home because of the pressure. He is absolutely fine now, but I still can't believe that he didn't remember for so long!

  • My husband never takes medicine when he is sick and never goes to the doctor.  He seriously hasn't been to the doctor since he left the military 3 years ago.

My grandfather is much worse.  He was once stung by a ton of bees and refused to go.  My grandmother literally had to threaten him with divorce to get him to go.

  • My H has a fatty tumor on his skull. When I met him it was there but not noticeable unless you touched his head. I ran my fingers across his head one night when we were making out and jumped a little. When I asked him what it was he just shrugged. HE HAD A FUCKING TUMOR GROWING ON HIS HEAD AND DIDNT CARE. I had to beg him to get it looked at. Thankfully it just sits harmlessly on top of his skull, but he didn't know that! I was in such disbelief.

  • DH passed out on an airplane last month. Total drama with the flight attendant screaming for a dr and all the passengers looking terrified. But would he go to the ER when we landed?! Noooo. He's had similar incidents when he's sick, and I think that's what was the case. Still, being cautious is always a plus. So damn stubborn!

  • My husband gashed his head open on one of our radiators one day wrestling with the dog. He stated it was no big deal and it would heal on its own. No husband you have a gushing head wound, you are getting blood everywhere, you need a doctor. 3 hours later and 9 staples...he still insists I made to big a deal out of it.

  • OP I'm glad your husband was at the hospital and hopefully it's nothing serious!

My WTF husband moment was probably when he said he was too lazy to clear the snow from the driveway last year after a large snowfall that left over a foot of snow.

  • SO glad to hear most of the very serious things have been ruled out.

My dad had numbness and tingling in his lower back and leg and it did turn out to be a slipped disc that was putting pressure on a nerve.  Not that I wish back problems on my worst enemy, but I'd take that over anything neurological or vascular!!

  • I just read your update. Glad it doesn't appear to be a stroke, MS, or brain tumor! I just wanted to say, my mom had the same kinds of feelings, I took her to the ER out of concern for a stroke and it turned out she has a Vitamin B deficiency. Obviously tingling and numbness is a pretty ambiguous symptoms but just thought I'd throw it out there. Hope you can get some answers!

Thanks for the info! I may throw some Vitamin B his way. Can't hurt!

My husband potentially has sleep apnea (it could be something else but not sure) but  in our entire 5 year relationship he has never once done the proper testing to get a proper diagnosis and treatment. As a result, he NEVER gets a good night's sleep, falls asleep everywhere, is always tired, and always sick. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY.
THIS!! We might be married to the same guy!

Glad to know I'm not alone. I wish we could share responsibility for one guy instead of two! ;)

I haven't read the whole thread, so I apologize if someone mentioned this already. MH was diagnosed with sleep apnea, and it was one of the best things, not only for his health, but for our marriage. Honestly. We couldn't sleep in the same bed due to me being a light sleeper and his snoring and he'd fall asleep any where and any time he could. After he was diagnosed, he started using his machine. Of course there was a learning curve, but it was so worth it. Could YH maybe self conscious about possibly using a machine?
Yeah I think part of it is that he doesn't want to use that thing. But he mostly thinks he wouldn't be able to sleep with all that stuff, but sheesh! I could not live never getting a decent night's sleep.

  • So my husband has had tingling and numbness in the whole left side of his body since last night. He called the doctor today and they said (obviously) that he needs to go to the emergency room sooner rather than later because he could be having mini strokes. What does my husband say? "Oh I think I am feeling much better. I am going to finish out my work shift and then see if I want to go to the hospital." WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK. He then has the audacity to ask me what I think the hospital is going to say. I DON'T FUCKING KNOW BECAUSE I AM NOT A DOCTOR. Which is why he needs to get his ass there. I am tossing around the idea of literally driving to his work and carrying him out like an infant. <-- I won't actually do that but I would get a sick satisfaction out of his reaction if I did.

I need some of your biggest husband idiot moments so that I can feel better about the absolute moron that I am in love with.

UPDATE: Well after 7 hours at the ER and every damn test you could imagine they determined it wasn't a stroke, MS, or a brain tumor. He felt terrible that we were there so long and I told him that I would literally wait in that room 10 times over to find out the same good news. Next step is to check out his spine to see if that is the cause of the numbness and tingling. Those tests do not have to be done in the ER and we were sent home thank the lord.

I want to thank you ladies for the laughs, positive thoughts and prayers. I seriously could not have gotten through those 7 hours without reading all of the humor you brought to this thread. You all are some truly wonderful people.
What a relief! Hope they find out the cause soon!

  • I'm sorry yesterday was such a crappy day, and I'm really sorry if my comments contributed to that at all. I've had a horrible personal experience that makes me sensitive to that word. I'm sorry that I took that out on you. I hope your husband gets answers soon.

  • My dh had pnemonia and wouldn't go to the dr. (we didn't know what it was till his dr apt) He slept for 3 days straight and i.called his mom to bring him to his pcp bc he wouldnt go to a walk in (and I had to work). She's in the medical field when she got to our house and saw him she wanted to strangle him. If he waited another day he would have been hospitalized his lungs were so filled up.
