So, as I sit here working after DD has gone to bed, Roomba happily buzzing around the living room, I thought of one more reason why I freaking love this thing: It is quiet enough to use when the kid is sleeping.
What model do you have? I had one once and I returned it because I found it too loud.
I really don't know. It is around four years old (we got it refurbished off Woot.) It isn't whisper quiet, but it is quiet enough that I can run it basically right outside of Dds room without it waking her up. The mopping one is even quieter.
Dh wanted one for a long time, and I kept saying no. He reminds me of this frequently.
Dirty, dirty lurker here (see dirty lurker thread). I would KILL for a robot vacuum. My one dog sheds like mad (the other is non-shedding), and I have little black hair balls floating around if I don't vacuum every other day.
How does it deal with toys strewn around everywhere? My 1yo is the most havoc-wreaking chaos-creating child I've ever met (my eldest is, and always has been, fastidious), and most of the time I avoid vacuuming because I don't want yo pick up all the play food and random toys lying around.......

I'm thinking of asking for one for Christmas.
My Roomba is great for my dog's hair. He is a terrier type, and it picks it up really well. I had a dog that had very fine long hair (like a Sheltie) and for her hair, I had to use a heavy duty vacuum (I think it was the Bissel Pet Hair Eraser. It did a really good job.
The Roomba will bounce off large things like chairs. Sometimes I use shoes to put a barrier under something I don't want it to go under. I always pick up the toys before vacuuming, though. Even if you just have a basket for each room to throw them in and get them out of the way.

Monster Truck (It's a GIRL!) is due 19/02/2015!
How often do you have to empty it during one cleaning session.
We vacuum every other day and fill about 1/3 of the canister every time.
Now to get DH on board...
