I've been eating a lot of veggie sushi to quell the cravings...are you all saying you're eating sushi with raw fish while you're pregnant? I thought that was a big no no? I'm not even eating tempura sushi because I'm so worried about possible bacteria!

None of the sushi listed above has raw fish. I eat fried shrimp tempura which is cooked.
I have been craving it like a madwoman. I usually get a couple rolls if eating solo...spicy tuna and a baked crab, Philly or California. I'm still eating raw fish because 1)I eat at super reputable places 2) I don't eat it constantly 3) even my OB eats it while pregnant and 4) I've had food poisoning off of a quinoa salad before, so I feel like you are never truly safe from being exposed to food poisoning.
From what I've read actually it says as long as it's a clean place with a high turnover rate you should be ok but in moderation. Don't do it everyday or multiple times a week and you really should stick to lower mercury fish but apparently one spicy tuna roll isn't going to hurt baby
Wait is it ok to eat spicy tuna rolls?!!!! Please say yes please say yes
I had a piece of DH's last time we went for sushi!
I generally don't like raw fish sushi to begin with. But IMO it's ok to have as long as you get it from a reputable place! The owner of our favorite sushi place happens to be pregnant herself, so I told her I was KU last time we went and she assured me that her sushi wouldn't make me sick! haha
It's your own choice, though. Some people aren't comfortable with it, so they choose not to eat it.

This. My OB goes by the same rules for deli meats. I go to Port of Subs at least 1x per week... but I won't buy a sandwich from a subway at a truck stop.

Yes I still eat raw fish. Common sense is a wonderful thing. The 3 places I have been going the last 4 years have never made me sick. My pregnancy didn't cause them to lower their quality. On the other hand the sushi from a truck I will pass. Please please please research before you believe every single thing someone says you can't do because you are pregnant. You can eat soft cheese too.
I love shrimp tempura rolls, philly rolls and spicy tuna rolls. There aren't any good sushi places near us, so that may be what we have for dinner tomorrow.

Pregnancy lowers your immune system a bit so you are more likely to get sick where you didn't before. Hence why you are supposed to cook poultry to higher degrees and not have raw beef or steak. I don't think you necessarily can't do it but you should be careful about it and in moderation.
I am all about the salmon sashimi. I've eaten it a couple times. I used to have a 1-2 times per week sushi habit. I've cut it down to 1-2 times per month. But my favorite restaurants are reputable and the fish is amazing and very fresh

I've been eating raw sushi. I don't do it all the time, and I sure don't eat it from sketchy Chinese buffets or grocery store delis, but yeah I eat it. I also eat lunch meat cold, color my hair, and have wine here and there after the 1st tri, so there's that. IMO, a lot of the fear surrounding pregnancy is sensationalized and over the top.
Spicy tuna rolls, mmmmmmmmm. I may have to do this for lunch tomorrow. There's this place near my part-time job that has this amazing spicy tuna salad appetizer that is to die for! Nomnomnom. This sounds so much better than the roast chicken I made for dinner now.
So far I'm sticking with cooked. But omg!! I'm craving it all the time -.-
Right now there's a California roll with mango, jalapeños and hot oil on top that is just...heavenly. Haha. Hmm maybe I'll call in pickup tonight...also the Alaska is good too. Only way I can enjoy salmon cooked.
I am going for sushi tomorrow ... optimistic rolls (tuna/salmon avocado , masago & crispy tempura flakes wrapped in soy wrap w 3 sauces sesame , jalapeño and sweet wasabi mayo) THE best!!! If I could convince DH to go now I would ! #imsohungry !!!
Reputable Place always a must just for piece of mind!
I haven't had sushi in ages... Not due to pregnancy, just because the good places are 20-30 minutes away, and we'd need a babysitter. (Because dd is not old enough for us to pay for her to eat sushi).
I now feel that it is essential for H and I to go on a date night for sushi ASAP. Like tomorrow.
Spider roll! Best sushi to ever exist. Tempura soft shelled crab, avocado, lettuce/cabbage (I've had it both ways), rolled in rice, topped with baby Nemos (orange roe), and drizzled with a liberal amount of eel sauce. OMG, eel sauce. I just want to fill a wading pool with that stuff and slurp it up with a straw.
I had sushi for lunch today. Without seeing this thread! I stuck to the cooked stuff and seaweed salad. It totally hit the spot! I want spicy tuna!! Maybe in a few weeks...

This. Those are amazing. My mouth actually watered. I'm sure you'd like Godzilla rolls, too!
Love Spider rolls! Crunch crunch nom nom. ahhhhh. My 3 year old daughter is a picky eater, but likes sushi rolls because she thinks they are cupcakes. She calls them sushi cupcakes.
Since we are talking sushi cravings here. . . I have wanted a specific roll from my fav restaurant and you are all convincing me that maybe 1 roll is acceptable to eat.
Albacore delight- spicy tuna roll topped with albacore, red onion, sriracha and ponzu sauce.

I'm going to need you to tell me more details about these Godzilla rolls.
Re: Sushi sushi sushi
I just made myself hungry. To bad I am also sick as a dog.
Eta: enjoy!
And fried shrimp tempura
This is all I am thinking about...
They call it the Chuck Norris...
Spicy salmon and panko crusted shrimp inside, topped with sashimi salmon, avocado, fresh squeezed lemon juice and togarashi
My other favorite is a tempura calamari roll, but most of the places around here don't have it. Booo.

This is the only reason I don't eat sushi every day. It's so damned expensive!!
But now I'm contemplating if I should go to my local sushi place to pick up some lunch... it sounds sooooooooo good!!!!
