Any teachers in this April 2015 group?

So, back in school preparing my room for crazy middle schoolers and the nausea kicks in! At 6 weeks preggo, I am now feeling sick from 6am-10ish am and then it comes roaring back around 3. I'm also starting to feel very tired. Any other teachers wondering how hard it's going to be during the school year?  It's my first pregnancy (we tried for about a year and a half, even did all the infertility tests), so I feel very happy to finally be in this tired, nauseous state. Plus, it's great that we have the perk of having our maternity leave right at the end of the school year, so that's reason to celebrate. In the meantime, are there any other teachers out there fighting through the beginning of the year already?

  • High school teacher here!! Totally agree that getting the summer off after maternity leave is such a plus! Lucky for my, I teach in a cyber school so work more in an office type setting with the ability to pee whenever I need (thank goodness cause I'm going at least once an hour)!! Good luck with middle schoolers! That's sure to be a challenge!!

  • Elementary teacher here! I know the fatigue is going to kick my butt! I was tired at school before I was pregnant. It's going to be nice having maternity leave in April... Extra long summer break! Good luck and blessings ladies!
  • I teach third. I am in my classroom setting up now but I am not officially back until the 25. Kids start the 27th.

I have an April 2012 baby, so I have done the same thing before. The beginning of the school year wasn't the easiest, but it wasn't horrible. And it is nice to know I don't have to teach until June!

  • I teach first grade. I've been setting up my classroom in the afternoons once my nausea has calmed down and I'm wondering how I will be able to work when I have to get up at 5:30, into work at 8, and entertaining 20 6 year olds all day!! I go back Aug 26th. Best of luck to you!
  • Pre- k teacher! Headed back to work next week. Very nervous about how I'm going to deal with the morning sickness and exhaustion but know many many others have done it before me. Hope you all have a wonderful school year!

  • I teach 3rd and have been going back in here and there to do classroom prep, and when I do, I'm EXHAUSTED in the evening! I'm feeling really anxious about how this first trimester back with kiddos is going to go.
  • I teach third! Teachers start tomorrow and kids on Monday. Not feeling too bad yet , but I am nervous it will get harder. With my first I told the teacher next door to me that I was pregnant in case I needed to run to the bathroom....well this year the teacher next door will be my MIL! She was hired to do the maternity leave of my teaching partner and will be there until October. Definitely NOT ready to tell her.

  • I'm elementary title I math. We're in all day district professional development today and tomorrow and of course today is the day m/s decides to start. I'm even more worried once school starts. I won't tell anyone for another 2 months, and it's hard keeping my secret.

  • First grade teacher- just started setting up my room this week. Right now I don't feel too bad just tired...I'm dreading the lack of coffee this school year!
  • Chemistry teacher here.  It'll be an adventure!
  • 8th grade science! I'm nervous about how my baby will handle the stress. I get so tense and stressed out from school every year. I'm hoping to loosen up and focus on my baby...not test scores!
  • And I don't know why pic is of a guy! Haha
  • Elementary art teacher! I'm 4w5d, no m/s yet. I'm tired, but I'm always tired, ha! I'm finding it really hard to get focused for school...all I have is BABY on my mind!!! Not having to make it til June is comforting though

  • High school guidance counselor and I have classes. I worked until my due date with my first but was starting my 2nd tri when the school year started. It was not easy bu at least my m/s was over. The month of sept should be interesting.

  • I teach 7th grade! We have in service next week, then the kids show up on the 25th. I don't know what I am going to do!! I have felt genuinely worried because I feel exhausted all day! I just might have to pass out during my conference period... and possibly lunch...
  • I teach High School and I am 5 weeks pregnant. So far no nausea. I hope I will be like my last pregnancy and NOT throw up at all. I'd like to keep it a secret from my students until at least November but I feel like my tummy is ALREADY swollen! I wish all you other teachers happy, healthy pregnancies and hope you can get through the beginning of the year craziness without too much fatigue or nausea.
  • I teach first grade and my classroom is pretty much ready for September. I set up early this summer because I was afraid I would be too tired/sick to set up in late august...but I have had zero nausea and sickness and I'm 7 weeks. I hope I don't get it when I go back to work!!
  • High school teacher!! Man, running to a bathroom to tinkle all day long is going to be rough!
  • I'm a school interventionist... does that count?... essentially I'm a school counselor.

I'm definitely worried shits going to hit the fan right around 7 weeks like my first pregnancy... which would be right at the 1st week woth kids... fan-freaking-tastic!

  • I'm an elementary reading specialist - I thankfully don't go back until the day after labor day and my room is undergoing window renovations so I can't go back in yet.

My biggest concern is that when I don't eat often I feel sick, so it looks like I may be sneaking some eats while I'm bringing my little friends back to their classroom… and being tired! I'm thankful the 3 ladies I work closest with have all had a baby within the past 1.5 years!
For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him.

  • I teach fifth and have a few in service days coming up, but no kids until the 3rd. This is my second year teaching, so I'm anxious that it won't be as easy a year as I'd hoped for. I'm so excited though for our first baby that I'm hoping I can cheerlead myself through any rough patches. I love that I still have a few weeks to get used to my preg body before I'm back to work.
  • I'm a fifth grade teacher and I've been setting up my room and running to puke. Needless to say, there won't be a secret much longer.
  • I am a middle school teacher too. I have a May baby so with that one I literally got my BFP a week before school started. It wasn't great. I was nauseated and tired. And we have no a/c so Sept sucked. But it could have been worse. I never puked last pregnancy so that made it easier. I'm glad this time to have a month under my belt before school (we go back the 2nd) so I'll technically be 2 mo preg then and only have a month til 2nd tri.

  • High school teacher! It sure has been hard prepping for the year with this nausea and fatigue, plus not much motivation! I'm 7 weeks now. The good thing is I actually feel better when I'm out of the house and distracted. I'll definitely be snacking and peeing between every class! I did tell one colleague who is a wonderful friend, and I know she has my back if I need her for anything.
  • I teach second grade and teachers start back next Tuesday the 19th! Nausea is here and fatigue is kicking my butt lately. I was pregnant the last time right after the holiday break and it stunk, but was just something that had to be taken one day at a time :) I always had snacks and water, which helped. Just stunk because you don't really want to eat, but when I did that I nearly passed out, so that wasn't an option LOL! Sitting down while teaching was also something I never did before being pregnant, but had to keep doing as my pregnancy went on. I actually came back the following school year at 40 weeks pregnant the first week of school---now that was interesting :) Trying to get to know the kids while not going into labor---awww the life of a teacher :) We can do this ladies!!! Stay strong and hydrated :)

  • It's so great to hear from other teachers going through the same stuff. My weird thing is I'm normally very anxious for the school year to start and stressed. This year I feel very chill, though. It's my seventh year teaching, but I'm at a new school. I don't quite feel comfortable enough yet telling people there, but I think I might have to earlier than later. Also, during my prep days I've found that sugar free fruit flavored Life Savers in my desk drawer are truly a life saver. When I start feeling MS, I pop one in and I feel way better.
  • Middle school here! Hooray for a perfect spring break calendar baby!! Cheers! I'm terrified for when the morning sickness comes...5 weeks 4 days now and nothing so far.

Going back to teach middle/high school choir next week at exactly 6 weeks. My guess is m/s will start on first day of school! But it took us years to get here, so I don't even mind and oddly keep hoping to wake up sick. :)
  • Kindergarten teacher here! :) We don't start our in-service days until after Labor Day so I'm thankful for the time to continue to get used to all of the changes. We had the first ultrasound today and were able to see the heartbeat which took a lot of worrying out of the equation. I'm super excited to have an early April due date because who wouldn't consider an early summer vacation amazing! Im kind of nervous about queasiness and bathroom trips, but we will figure it out, after all we problem solve and plan for a living! Good luck and enjoy your school year everyone!
  • High School math teacher here (I know, I know you hate math, I hear it all the time).  I have an April 12 babe, so this should be pretty similar, hopefully.  I never puked during my 1st pregnancy, and I was tired but you adjust.  But, I'm tired when a normal school year starts.  It's just something you have to get used to, like any new adjustment (they'll be a few over this next year).

My biggest advice, is tell someone around you.  For me it'll be the teacher next door, who is also a friend.  That way if you need to make a mad dash to the bathroom you can do so quickly.  Snacks are good to have around too.

I absolutely loved having an extended summer with DS, he was 4.5 months before I went back to work which was so nice.  I also had 2.5 weeks off (3.5 if you count spring break) before DS came.  I started my maternity leave at spring break, which I will do again this time around.

I teach 5th grade and go back to in-service on Monday and kids start the 25th. Have no idea how I'm going to make it without flipping a table but there is no other choice...hoping my push in sped teacher keeps the kids calm for all our sakes!
  • I'm a 2nd grade teacher. Spent all day in my classroom trying to get as much done as possible as long as I don't have ms yet!!! Just so incredibly tired. Being 6w preggo and setting up a classroom has got to be the most tiring thing I have ever experienced! Even more tired than the day after our wedding! I'm nervous that I'm not sick yet and it will hit hard when school starts Sept 2nd. Peeing all the dang time is going to be fun too! Just have to remember it will all be worth it after spring break when we are holding our babies and our colleagues are working! Hehe
  • I'm a middle school teacher, but don't start until September 2nd. I will be around 7 weeks then an I'm very nervous. With my son, I was due in March, and I was sick all of August, but ended up feeling fine when school started in September.

  • I teach 5th grade and am stressing out about getting ready for school!  I'm trying to enjoy a few more days home with my 14 month old while we have only part time daycare until in-service starts, but I just keep thinking about all the things I need to get done at school...  Compared to my first baby, which I was pregnant September-June with, I am happy to get some of this nausea phase out of the way before school starts!
  • I teach 6th and 7th grade science and I'm 6.5 weeks pregnant with my first.. We've had in-service this week and students return on Monday.  I was really worried about morning sickness because I am a HUGE baby when it comes to nausea and it started kicking in this past weekend. I started taking Unisom and B6 before bed as recommended by my doctor as a morning sickness preventative, and it's been working like a charm!! I did start to feel a little queasy this afternoon, but it wasn't until I was already on my way home, so I can deal with that!!

I have told 2 close teacher friends who have vowed to keep it a secret for now ;) I am so bloated I'm already having to use a belly band, so I'm worried how long I can keep the secret!! lol.  I normally stress a moderate amount about work, but I'm really going to try not to this year and just focus on being healthy :)  Good luck everyone!!
  • I'm a high school counselor at a very large high school. I have 400 students. We have orientations this week and next. I'll be having people in my face all day every day for about the next 3-4 weeks! I have no idea how that's going to go. Take it one day at a time. At least we'll be super busy in the beginning of our pregnancy so it should go quick!

  • I teach kindergarten! I have training a all next week then back on the 25th. I'm lucky enough to have an awesome co teacher so I think that will help with having to pee every 5 min and possible MS.
  • I'm an early education teacher. I have a classroom of 9 children ages 15 months to two years old. I work year round so no summer break here. I'm really worries how it'll be taking care of 9 young children while dealing with exhaustion and nausea (I'm 6 weeks and that hasn't started yet so maybe I'll luck out). Also I can't imagine picking up all those children all day long when im in the third trimester. We'll see how it goes lol
