Huge help for morning sickness

I just thought I would share that I have found what I think is helping me tremendously with morning sickness.... Hot ginger tea! My chiropractor recommended ginger chews initially but I found them to be too large and also really spicy and quickly formed an aversion to them. She then suggested ginger tea to combat the uneasy feeling first thing in the morning when you wake up with an empty stomach. I had a few really bad days so I jumped on drinking the tea immediately once in the morning and since them have not had major nausea spells yet. I may just be lucky but thought it was worth sharing with others in case you want to give it a try!

Cheers to an easy, morning sickness free first trimester to all of you ;)

Re: Huge help for morning sickness

  • I've tried ginger everything (including a freaking $25 tin of ginger Altoids) none of which have helped... This will be next on the list for sure!!! Thank you!

  • Thank you! I have some Ginger tea, but not having been to a Dr. yet I haven't been able to ask if it's safe to take. I found that peppermint tea helped me as well

  • I've been using sea bands and preggi pops! They have worked well for me

  • If you're looking to add a little variety to your tea drinking regimen another good one is called Tension Tamer by celestial seasonings. It has a combo of ginger, peppermint, lemon, and a couple other things. Works for me and they're at most grocery stores as far as I'm aware :)

  • I bought ginger and peppermint tea and then kept seeing everywhere that it's only considered "possibly safe" during pregnancy and that most drs don't recommend drinking it more than 4 days at a time. :/ So I've skipped it. I'm dying over here though. Throwing up at least 3-4 times a day.
  • Vitamin B6 has helped me a ton too! Now if I wasn't so tired all the time...ugh
  • My doc gave me a prescription for an anti nausea medication intended for morning sickness- diclectin? I have not used it yet due to the side effects ( upset stomach being one of them- ironic). I've been trying to avoid using it but today was a horrible day. If this continues I may end up trying it. Why is pregnancy so awful!!
  • I've always had an aversion to ginger, but I can drink ginger ale. But my god send has been lavender - essential oils, lollipops, and teas.

I've been taking my prenatals at night and I'm not waking up nauseous anymore!
  • Thanks for the heads up! Our first appointment is on Wednesday so I'll ask about the ginger tea and report back. My chiro specializes in pregnancy and babies and she swears by it. It has to be better than medicine I would think!!!

Please do!! I've called my dr 4 times this week with no call back yet and my first appointment isn't until Sept 3. Ugh. I'll be 11 weeks by then and Lord help me on the downhill slide to this mess.

  • Ah! That's not right they should be calling you back. What if something was wrong?
