Re: *** Weekly IVF Check-in ***

  • I'm just waiting on my blood work from this morning.  The clinic's lab are out of progesterone test because they are on back order they now have to send out my test.  It probably won't be until tomorrow until I find out if I can start estrogen for this FET or not.  I'm sooooo sick of this wait.

QOTW:  I'm afraid of bridges.  Which sucks because I live in south la surrounded by water everywhere so we have LOTS of bridges.  I am getting better about going across them but the high ones I stay on the inside if at all possible and try to not look over the side.   I finally quit having panic attacks going across the causeway (it's about a 26 mile long bridge over water), but trust me my hands are 10 and 2 on the steering wheel.

Waiting for appointment with a new RE who accepts my insurance. We're hopefully heading into IVF#1 in October or November.

My biggest question right now is, do we pay a package price and risk over-paying if the first transfer works, or to we take our chances and pay per cycle? The package price is about the same as one fresh cycle and one frozen cycle, and I am a very good candidate to do well with IVF (as far as we know).

QOTW: My biggest fear is being trapped. Being stuck in a bad situation when there's nothing I or anyone else can (or will) do to help tends to cause me a lot of anxiety.

ETA: I'm paranoid that we're going to find out there's a quality problem with my eggs or that there is some implantation problem. We have no reason to believe either of those. Stupid brain!

  • Good luck friday @gsancho!!!

I'm sure you have some more freaky phobia's ....... maybe starfish...... or dolphin???
    :)

  • @tweetyknicks‌ We decided not to pay for the packages. Mainly because of my age, I'm 40, and we figured if the 1st one we didn't get any good eggs we would move I to donor embryos. Now that I know I do have good eggs in there I'm kinda wishing we had done a package because if it doesn't work this time we are going to do another. I'm just not sure the packages my clinic offers are that great because my main cost is the ICSI, PGD and my meds, and none of the packages cover this.

    Fucking bump!!!!

@Pintobean39: Meds never seem to be covered. I'm lucky in that ICSI is covered in the package cost. (It is an extra charge for a la carte cycles. I accounted for that in my cost comparison.) The terms of the package deal seem to differ by clinic, and therefore the evaluation of its worth would vary too.

  • Hello,

My first time posting here. If feels weird not being on the IUI check in board. Met with the specialist last month after our 5th IUI cycle didn't work. She recommended us to stop trying and we began to focus on IVF. Oh my gosh, the cost is frightening. My hubby is still in a bit of denial thinking we can do it on our own, but that didn't work with over 2 years of trying. So I told him he gets two rounds of us trying on our own while we save money for IVF. Fast forward to today... AF started and started 4 days early. She's probably confused since this is the first round without medication since December.

Looking at the calendar and my work schedule, I think we will be starting prep in September with IVF in October. I'm just trying to coordinate the office dates since we will be out of the states for a week in late September so I'm hoping that doesn't affect us. How many times did you have to see your doctor in your first cycle when you started birth control pills?

Things I'm afraid of... ski lifts. I hate heights and those things freak me out every time I ride one. Yet, I love skiing so it's an on-going fear I try to get rid of each winter.

  • I'd like to be added! I've been pretty lurk-ey as of late, just twiddling my thumbs waiting for my BCP to end!

    1. I have been taking BCP for a month now, I have a week and a half left... but have my first Lupron shot on Monday. BCP is evil (this combo of hormones is, at least)
    2. 1st cycle
    3. My test/beta should be sometime around September 22. My retrieval week is September 8th, transfer will be around my birthday. Such a wonderful birthday gift :)

    QOTW:
I'm really paranoid about a lot of things. I prefer the term "aware" ;) I suppose my biggest fear (because it comes to my mind daily) is to be kidnapped and held captive.. We live in an almost-fully transitioned neighborhood, and there's some sketchy folk now and again.. when I walk my dogs I'm always looking around 360 degrees to see who's outside and who's watching etc... I think I have issues.
  • @wcasar‌ when I took bcp before my IVF I only went to the RE the beginning when I started and when I stopped. So I think I had about 3 weeks with no appointments.

Good luck to the upcoming IVF cycles @wcasar‌, @BlueJoan‌, and @meld42‌.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • Still taking the androgel/estrace, waiting to start stims at the beginning of Sept.

I'm afraid of balconies. I'm afraid they will fall down or that I will somehow fall off.

Official diagnosis: Unexplained IF. I am 32. I have low ovarian reserve (low AMH), and poor egg quality. I've also been diagnosed with mild glandular developmental arrest (lining problems, detected with EFT).

We are using open ID donor sperm. IUIs #1-7=BFN. IVF September 2014 antagonist protocol, 8R,5M,3F, 5 day transfer of 1 morula = BFN. IVF#2 planned for January 2015 (antagonist protocol + HGH).

Since last check in I think I did ET. I am 4dp3dt. I am anxiety ridden. I have literally convinced myself that I already had a BFN and on a couple occasions today have found myself going "wait, I'm still PUPO... it's still possible!" But truly I am worried. I'm pretty sure I have no frosties but need to call to confirm. :( I was told they would let me know about a week after ET, but as of ET day it wasn't looking good.

QOTW: Spiders and wasps for sure. I would say I'm afraid of heights because even just watching people do things on tv makes me nervous and heartbeat race... I would NEVER go sky diving or anything like that. But I will still do roller coasters and go up to the top of things. Just not jumping off them, LOL.

GL at FET @gsancho and ET @buttmonkey34 !!

@tweetyknicks We just sort of felt the package deal cost too much (up front) and so we didn't really consider it. But I can tell you that waiting on the results of my first IVF I think I'd feel less anxiety if I knew I had more stuff paid for already. It's a tough decision!

    Me: 32  DH: 33  Married: March 2004

    July 2006: started TTC
2008: HSG (normal), couple rounds of clomid through gyno

October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary

July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

    IUI #1, Dec. 24, 2013, BFN

June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
