I have the Skip Hop Duo right now. I like the messenger style bag because you can hang it on the stroller handles. I am on the look out right now for another bag, as the one I have is not in great shape after 2+ years. The duo was a decent size, but I could have used bigger at times. Any recommendations are welcome! I am eyeing the skip hop dash right now.

  • I have a Kalencom tote style. It is VERY durable. We've been using it almost daily since Dec. 2011 and it looks and functions like new.

It hangs nicely on the handle of the strollers we have. I like the compartment spacing, it works great for cloth diapering supplies.

DH likes the one we have because it's not "too girly" so he doesn't feel weird carrying it.

  • I really want this Dooney & Bourke diaper bag but can't seem to find it in the stores anywhere and on ebay but used so now I'm looking at some of the Pottery Barn Kids Monogrammed ones. But I will probably end up with something basic, easy to carry around and not to girly so my DH doesn't feel crazy carring it if we have a girl.
  • I have a petunia pickle bottom boxy backpack. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It has so much space for cloth diapers, all the things you need for a baby AND a toddler. It's easy to carry, and it's super cute. I highly recommend the brand.

  • I just always used a backpack.  I'm cheap and it's what I had.  Lots of space, lots of compartments, and easier to use than an over-the-shoulder bag.  :)

I loved the Stork Sack I've been using since DH was born and I'll be getting another one when this baby is born. They are great quality, have tons of storage, and I love the thermal pocket that can keep a bottle warm or a sippy cool.

I also love that it looks nothing like a diaper bag. Anyone who saw it would think that it was a regular large size purse, which allows me to take it everywhere even when DH isn't with me without feeling funny. Love only having one bag. Love love love the Stork Sack!

  • I have 2 Coach diaper bags. I love them both. One is huge and the other is smaller, which is nice. For the first year, I carried either one depending on the places I went. I also over packed everything. I knew I had enough diapers, but the "what ifs" were the reason I packed like 8 more. I love them and plan on using them again. Once he got older, I also used a back pack and still do on far trips or trips to the zoo.

  • We have a diaper bag grave yard:)  We originally started with a Skip Hop messenger bag.  It was too small and just not practical for what we needed.  I upgraded to the JuJu Be Prepared b/c we were traveling so much at the time (DS1 had 25,000 air miles by 12 months).  That bag is great for travel but not for every day running around.  I was gifted a Coach bag.  Also nice, but DH was not crazy about it and it's not machine washable (which I found out to be a huge plus).  Then I decided I needed a Petunia Pick Bottom backpack.  That lasted maybe 2 months (not that it fell apart, just was not ideal for what we were expecting out of a diaper bag).

We have since had the same bag for 5 years now.  It's the Patagonia Travel Courier.  Not a diaper bag per se, but it efficiently carries everything we need.  It is pretty worn out and currently being repaired. Luckily, DH has the same bag in a different color for work out gear and I have highjacked it until Patagonia mails the original back.  I have washed it dozens of times and it dries in a few hours. We tell everyone who asks about diaper bags about how awesome ours is but I'm pretty sure they think we are just crazy:) We really do love that bag!

  • I'm looking at a Vera Bradley one! I know several moms using them and just love them! There online store has been having great sales! I just got a large tote, a organised wallet and a pacifier holder for $40!
  • I have two.. my coach one I like, but too small for everyday use... and this manly looking eddie bauer one DH wanted that is cheap and still doesnt hold everything we need. *sigh* unfortunately cheap so I work with what I got. But I dont really recommend.

I wasn't loving any of the diaper bags I was seeing in stores so I hopped on etsy and discovered Ikabags. They are handcrafted in Paris and made out of amazing quality leather and canvas. They are so chic and contemporary I love that it won't look like a diaper bag.
They are a little spendy ($145 for the one I'm looking at before international shipping) but it's also a bag I would use beyond the diaper bag years as a weekend bag or book tote.

  • We use a regular back pack- I need to have my hands free (and it was cheap). I do plan to get some diaper clutches in different patterns to put in the bag and keep all the kids' things separated.

If money were no option and I could have any bag I wanted, I'd probably go for the SoYoung Charlie bag: https://www.soyoung.ca/diaper-bags-and-clutches.html
  • I started off with a canvas Kate Spade, and it got filthy! So I ended up switching to the Storksak Elizabeth and it was the best decision! It is an amazing bag. Tons of room, tons of pockets, and best of all it wipes clean!

I love that it doesn't look like a typical diaper bag, and that it is not too feminine that my husband feels silly carrying it around. I have carried it for 2 years, and it still looks new. I really love this bag and though it is pricey, you definitely get your money's worth!

This is exactly what I'm thinking about doing.  Love my Longchamps bc they can be machine washed and don't look too baby bag like.

  • We have a Columbia messenger style diaper bag. It works great for everyday use and is unisex which DH likes if he's out with DD by himself. For longer trips we have a larger one, but I can't remember the brand.
I wanted a Coach one bit that was vetoed as it wasn't washable. After a few spills, I'm glad to be able to wash the whole bag if needed.
  • I'm using an oversized purse.

It works the same and holds everything we'll need.

  • I have a coach diaper bag that I got at the outlet store. It was on clearance, and they were having half off clearance that day, too. I love a great deal and had always wanted a coach diaper bag. I LOVE my bag! It's hot orange, so it could go boy or girl. It's a great size, and works perfectly for me. Absolutely love it!

  • We've used this skip hop duo bag since DD was born. It has served us well so far. It washes well and I've really liked to stroller clips. I'm on the look out for a new one though since I'll have 2 under 2. I'm not sure it will be big enough.

  • We started out with a regular backpack because that is what DH wanted. I hated it! It would not fit over my stroller so anywhere I went I had to wear it. I found it annoying and hot in the summer. When DD was 6 months old I bought a Petunia Pickle Bottom City Carryall and I love it! The exterior wipes down easily and it fits perfectly over my stroller or I can comfortably carry it when I need to.

  • My best friend swears by her Vera Bradley one. She loved it with her son. It was an expensive diaper bag ( about $100). I haven't even thought that far ahead yet.

  • I have a Vera Bradley and I'm only lukewarm about it. I don't organize in the same way it wants me to compartment wise so it gets a little annoying. Dh got a New York Yankees messenger style diaper bag for Christmas one year and we mostly use that.

  • I'm too creap to buy a brand name bag that is going to get puked on, hold dirty diapers, have drinks spilled in it, etc. I bought a cheap set from Target or Walmart (can't remember which). It had a large bag that is perfect for the newborn stage, a small bag that is great for toddler stage, and a diaper clutch that I can stick in my purse if I don't feel like dragging a bag around. It's lasted for over 2 years and is in great shape.

  • We have the Skip Hop Versa in black -- it doesn't quite look like a purse, but it looks like a really utilitarian bag, which is exactly what we wanted. Plus it's made of some vinyl-like material that's easy to wipe down, which was ultimately what pushed us towards a diaper bag instead of just using a big purse.

I think a backpack style would totally make sense if you're thinking about toting it around a lot, but just keep in mind the times when you need something in it IMMEDIATELY -- if you also carry around a purse, it might be tricky to get to it very quickly. Or maybe it's just me that was always fussing around with tangled straps! :-S

  • Yeah I'm wanting to avoid tangled straps.
With DD I had one my mom picked up from a yard sale that was just fabric and the one I got from the hospital as my gift.
SO I never actually picked one out before. I like the skip hop ones but they just look too small for me.

  • I have my eye on a petunia picklebottom. Last night I said something to my husband about it and he gave me a funny look and said "what's a petu-ta-tu-tu pear bottom and am I going to have to carry it?" Haha. I may have to go with one of their more neutral colors if I want him to take it along when he takes the baby somewhere!
  • I bought a Ju Ju Be Jungle Maze when zulily had them on sale. I let DH pick the pattern so he would carry it too. Now that we have it he is arguing with me because its too girly. Its bright orange on the inside and the pattern is multisized green rectangles with an orange brown or white oval in it. How is this girly? The best part is he willingly carries a pink phone case?
  • I second the Kate Spade Stevie. I've bought it for a couple friends as shower gifts and now that it's my turn it's the only thing I (not so) secretly have been hinting at.

Today I purchased a Kate Spade leopard Harmony baby bag on their surprise 75% off sale for my sister who is a couple weeks behind me! She's a more alternative girl so the leopard is perfect but still has the classic features I love. The changing pad is nice but the stroller clips are a real life saver.

Also think of the type of bag-girl you are. I like a few compartments (phone/bottle/paci maybe) but really need a giant catch-all for the random stuff so I'm less about very specific (and often disfunctional) pockets and like a roomy bag.

    image
  • I'm so glad someone posted about diaper bags today because that's what I had started looking for. I can't decide what the best size is. Like how big do I really need, and at what point is it too big? Right now I'm wanting the striped Kate Spade Stevie bag. Just worried about the size.
  • I love the ju ju be bags. They are machine washable and they hold up very well. Had one for 7+ years now and it still looks great.

I also have a skip hop one. It looks more purse like. I forget what it's called. And I love that one too.
