Experiences with Ovia

Although it would seem here the majority of people use Fertility Friend, I am currently using Ovia for iPhone. I am a big fan of the interface and find it easy to use.

Being only in my second month of really tracking and not (yet) temping, I am wondering if any of you have more experience with Ovia. Do you find the algorithms reasonable and informative? Is it WAY off based on how your other indicators (temps, CM, AF, etc) actually occur? Wondering if it is worth sticking with, or if I should make a quick switch to FF. Currently, the data I am inputting is AF, CM, physical symptoms, and the occasional OPK result. I don't think Ovia really needs to know my mood and food intake everyday.

Re: Experiences with Ovia

  • Is Ovia the one where everything is a different shade of pink? Some have posted their Ovia charts and I find them to be hard to interpret & an eyesore. Fertility Friend isn't "pretty" but definitely a clear winner for me.

    No, I think that's Kindara.

OP -- I tried Ovia because it's a much prettier interface. And more fun to use. However, the BBT charting function is practically useless. I switched to FF after realizing that it actually analyzes your temps and gives your crosshairs for your ovulation day. No other app (that I'm aware of) does that. It plots your temps on a graph that's much easier to use and understand. Illustrated with photos:

Ovia: the dark red line is the BBT. Huh? I find it very hard to interpret all of the data, actually.

  • I use both FF & Ovia. I use Ovia because I like the positive feedback I get from it. FF is very utilitarian but I trust the data it presents more than Ovia.

FWIW, FF is the bees knees in comparison!
  • I've used ovia, kindara, and FF. Ovia was the worst because the options for CM were stupid and didn't make sense and the chart is so busy and confusing with four axes.
  • I used Ovia before having my Mirena removed just to get used to the format.  I thought it was easy to use!  I have the mirena removed at the end of May and waited 2 cycles before TTC.  I only inputted my period, cervical fluids, and sex.  We officially started TTC in July still not knowing if my cycle was regulated and we found out last week that we are expecting!  I can't give all the credit to the app, but it was definitely helpful for me!

    Good luck!!
