  I had to board my puppy while on vacation and I felt guilt every day while we were gone. My bill at pick up was almost $200. Why? I felt so bad that I paid extra for walks, play time and cuddles. Did they really do all that for her? Idk, but it helped me sleep.
  
  My point is, she's a lot of fucking work and 10x harder than a cat but I can't even entertain the idea of just safe havening her. Yes, I made safe haven a verb.

  I came into this thread fully planning on giving you my sorries because you had to euthanize a sick pet. Instead I find you gave your pet to a shelter (who will eventually euthanize her) because it was an inconvenience for you. Disgusting.

  Another one so confused by this. We have 3 dogs in a house that really isn't big enough for 3 dogs. A 3.5 year old and a baby on the way. Our house has been on the market for 6 months so we can upgrade with no luck. Re-homing the dogs would make our space situation and the stress over not being able to sell the house 10x better (people have suggested we do just that). But guess what? It's not even almost an option. Those 3 annoying mutts are OUR 3 annoying mutts, and we'll love and care for them until the end because that's the commitment we made. I'm so tired of seeing re-homing posts here and on FB for no good reason.

  My male cat is an asshole that breaks blinds and scratches up anything he can. He shits everywhere and has not responded to the trillion strategies we have tried to combat this. He meows all night long and throws up because he eats too fast. My female cat hates everyone but me, she seems to get off on spilling her food all over the floor and she joins the male in their nightly meow fest. They are total PITAs, but they are ours and we committed to them and we deal with the nasty bits. I find it reprehensible to give up an adult cat because it is inconvenient for you. Please never adopt another animal.

  I feel like I should take a picture of my face, to illustrate my emotions, but I'm pretty sure 99.9% of people in this thread are making identical faces at the idea that anyone thinks an adult cat is highly adoptable and not at high risk for euthanasia.

  I work full time, go to grad school, have 2 kids and a husband and can still find time to love on my cat and play with her. It takes 20 minutes, tops out of my day. I feel very sad for your cat who will suffer because of your poor decision.

  Kind of dumb to give this a real response but meh, whatever. I have 2 pets and two kids very close together and for a while the dog/cat did get less attention when I was tending to two little people. The thing is kids grow. Quickly. Now instead of two people giving them attention they have four. The kids learn responsibility at a young age because they are responsible for making sure their animals have food and water. Kids and pets growing up together (when possible) is a great thing for both the animal(s) and children and its well worth toughing it out for that short window of time that it's challenging because you have a baby.
