I came across a family who named their child "Xpinsive". The father explained that they chose this name so that when guys tried to pick up on her, "They'd already know".
Before someone even tries, let's point out that La-a, lemonjello, female, and chlamydia are urban legends. No, your nurse friend had never seen those. You can check the Social Security website.
As a teacher I've seen some doozies. We used to have a contest to see which teacher had the most unusual name on the class list at the beginning of the year. I didn't have him but another teacher had Nimrodd. That's not a joke. I called him Rodd. I couldn't say his real name with a straight face.
There was also a child in my school with the name Jonny. Adorable name. Love it. But his last name was Walker. Yea. Jonny Walker. The kid was always in trouble and he was always being called down to the office. Poor kid.
Also, back home "Hogg" is a very prominent name and there was a set of twins born to this name. I am not kidding you, these two girls' names were "Imma" and "Ura".
North--- North West

I'm also from that area and even went on field trips to the Hogg homestead when I was a kid. Ima really was their daughter but Ura is a myth
I work in a school and there a lot of strange names. We had a Chardonnae once, which was bad! The worst by far was a girl whose name was spelled Just'us (pronounced Justice) when I inquired about the unique spelling she told me her mom did it because her dad left them when mom was pregnant and from then on it was "Just us"...for reals!
When I taught in the detroit area, there were two twins named oranjello and lemonjello. No Joke.
No there wasn't.
Not saying there was but won't the SS office only report names if there are 5 or more occurrences of that name? I should go back and click on the link on the first page...
ETA: just kidding there isn't a ss link. And I'm not googling it because I don't care enough. Carry on.
but that's just it, everybody has a story about having personally met or having a friend who personally met one of the people with those names. It's clearly not true, because there would be hundreds of those people running around and you could easily find the names on the SS website. You can look on Snopes, they cover it pretty well too.

Why would some parents do that?!?
