Pregnant student check in?

I know the fall semester doesn't start for a few weeks but if there are any other mamas balancing pregnancy and studies are we interested in a weekly check in? Check on how we're keeping up with reading and assignments?

I'll run it but just wanted to see how many other students are on here if it would be worth it.

Re: Pregnant student check in?

  • I'm taking online courses that start tomorrow and I'm so worried I'm not going to do as well this term. I think a check in sounds great!

  • My classes start next week and I'm dreading it! Idk how I'll stay awake to get work done
  • I am also registered for a few classes. I work fulltime as a teacher and made sure to take the later classes so I could get there on time . I won't get out of class until almost 10pm. I am already dreading waking up the next day. Luckily there won't be too much work for either class.

  • Oh wow y'all start early! My college isn't back in session til Sept 3rd. Maybe in a few weeks there will be enough to update on
  • I start in two weeks. I am a full time teacher and will be taking 12 units toward my masters (all on campus at fresno state 45 minutes away). I increased my course load this semester to make time for baby next year. I am also trying to get my on campus stuff out of the way.
  • I'm having to take a break from my program for the year but I'm not guaranteed a spot next year. So now I have to decide if I want to take online courses. We were really looking forward to the financial aid to help us get by this semester then surprise! Weekly check ins would be great. If I find courses to take.
  • I won't start until after Labor Day but Psych student here.

  • I'm doing pre reqs for nursing start aug 18!!!
  • I start next week and I'm also dreading it! Tuesdays and Thursdays are super heavy while I only have one class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I already changed up my schedule to get rid of the potentially dangerous classes.

  • I start next week, I'm taking 17 credits towards my J.D and the spring semester off. I am however not looking forward to doing this semester exhausted. Law school is hard enough!!
  • I'm at the end so I am taking one class and student teAching full time for 15 weeks, plus working part time and trying to spend as many hours with my 4 year old As possible. Needless to say I'm have huge anxiety about it all
  • I start in 2 weeks! I go to ODU and this is my last semester until I graduate. Super excited and nervous. A checkup/checkin would be fantastic :)
  • I've been a full time student since October, I go all summer, with 2 part time jobs, and I have an almost 3 year old. I'm 7 weeks pregnant. It is very tiresome, but it'll be worth it! You can do it momma! :)

@tabitha722‌ so jealous!! I have about 6 or 7 left!!!
    Blah!!
  • I just graduated with my BA and am currently taking an online prereq for my credential program that starts at the end of this month. I'll have night class 3 nights a week, plus I'll just be starting as an after school youth leader for the Y. Procrastination is my middle name, AGH! I spent 5 hours doing a week's worth of hw last night. If there are any prayer warriors out there, pray that I'd make balance a priority.
  • Yes! I'm in the last year of my masters entry to nursing program. Thankfully the clinical schedules will be complete by the time I deliver. A check in would be nice though! :)
  • @adoo, Yeah, it will fly by for you, hopefully!

  • I'm so glad that there are other mamas out there going to school too! I'll be starting the second year of my masters in Counseling Psychology program and already I have the urge to put the program on hold. I just want to nest and I am afraid that I won't give 100% to my studies. Knowing I'm not the only one pushing through our studies is comforting and I think a weekly check in is a great idea! Nice to meet you ladies!
  • I'm working full-time as a cancer research nurse and also in school for my BSN. Classes start next week, eep.

  • I'd love a check in as well! I'm in a clinical psych doctoral program and classes start up again in two weeks, although I'm working an assistantship now and will start another as soon as my contact comes through.

  • I become a full-time CompSci student on 9/22.  Here's hoping pregnancy brain goes away by then, because I'm not looking forward to Calculus II with a head full of the dumb.   :-/

  • @TikTak‌ I spent a few years doing pre reqs trying to get into a really competitive ADN program and just gave up and applied to the 4 year BSN program, got in immediately. Pre reqs will still keep you busy and once you're finally in the core classes it's so much fun :) work, but fun if it's your passion. Good luck!

I'm really excited about classes this fall! Very nervous about making the 1.5 hour drive four days a week though.
All of my courses are wildlife biology based this semester as that is my major, but it will be interesting to see if I'm treated differently on any field assignments taken, since I'll be sporting a baby bump.
  • I start school August 25 and I'm taking 10 credit hours this semester. I actually just transferred to a new school so I am a little nervous on top of my pregnancy. I think it's a great idea that we make sure each of us stay on top of things.
  • I won't start until after Labor Day but Psych student here.

I am a Psych student as well! What do you want to do with your degree?
  • I'm working full-time as a cancer research nurse and also in school for my BSN. Classes start next week, eep.

Are your RN or LVN level now? I'm an LVN going for my RN right now. :/ I had to retake A&P I & II because they expired. Ugh. So I'm testing out of those and my RN level stuff starts the 25th of this month! I'm nervous! I work PRN in acute care right now.
  • I start the 18th and I'm so nervous! I'm an art education major and I already dropped my painting class because I was so afraid of the fumes and paint thinners. I'm taking a sculpture class and I'm also worried about the dust and chemicals we work with when mold making. And not to mention I'm worried about when I start to show and everyone starts to look!

I'm an RN. LPNs can't administer chemotherapy in the state of Tennessee.

  • I'm super jealous of all of you who got a summer break. I've been in cosmetology since September 2013 and we don't get summer or spring break. X( I am due to graduate in March... So I'm trying to accelerate before then to graduate sooner hopefully.
  • @TikTak‌ I'm taking 14 credits, 4 classes. Nursing assessment, lifespan development, nutrition and the history of childbirth. I added the childbirth class cause two classes are online and I only need to be on campus once a week plus I don't work. So I wanted to challenge myself and if it's too overwhelming I'll drop the childbirth class.
  • @TikTak‌ oh yeah haha this is basically my full time job, H and I agreed it's best for me to just focus on this because I admittedly have a difficult time with anxiety when I have too much going on at once. So we'll see how it goes with a baby ha. Good for you for being able to do both! I tried it last year and it was just too hard for me

As for the online classes, they're basically general courses anyone in the college can take which is why they're online. Not a single nursing course is offered online, for those ones you have to be on campus for sure. So it's a nice balance. I'd much rather be hands on with the nursing stuff anyway
  • @TikTak‌ it's scary but it's an option out there, completely online nursing schools :/ the idea doesn't sit well with me. They do end up connecting with local hospitals for clinicals but it's just not the same as an entirely hands on experience. Nursing IS a hands on career
  • @TikTak I'll be taking 12 credits. I have two assistantships, one will be 2 days/wk, the other 1 day/wk (which I only earn 1 credit for assistantship work, blah). Mondays/Wednesdays will be my class days and one class is online for a certificate I decided to add on to my degree.

oh I hear you. I was in your shoes 11 years ago. Cosmo school is hell, a hell you pay someone money for. Are you currently a part time student? Good luck on finishing up early.

Sorry! I just saw this. I think I'm part time.. I go Monday - Thursday 5:30-10:30 pm. It's been an interesting ride but I know I'll be done sooner than I think!
  • I actually just now (like within the last 30 minutes) finished my final for my first semester of Nurse Practitioner school (pathophysiology) YAY I got an A (just super excited so I have to throw that in there). Little scary to be pregnant and in such an intensive program, but here's hoping!

I've been in school the better part of my adult life and have learned that it always works itself out one way or the other.

Just completed my first week back at school and my teachers are fantastic, but I absolutely don't want to do any school work! Anyone else?

Guarantee this will be me. Getting back into the swing of things SUCKS after months of no schoolwork
