Re: For those having a hospital birth, have you registered yet?

  • My hospital tour isn't until Oct. 20th, so I'll ask about this at my next visit. No one has mentioned it to me yet.

  • I wish I could put anything other than **SS in this poll. We've had the biggest mess ever with everything. My husband and I were covered under my insurance so I had a great doctor back in Texas, but then the hubby finally went active duty with the Air Force. I had to quit my job because there was no place to transfer to in Oklahoma so I lost that health care (and of course I can't drive 8 hours to see my previous doctor). We were prepared for me not being covered for a month at the most, but it's now been two months with no insurance, no doctor, nothing. The base has completely screwed up my husband's paperwork so we can't get me on tricare yet not to even mention how he isn't getting paychecks yet either. Also I just found out there's a waiting period for Tricare Prime which is what we really want, so unless they can make special concessions I may not be able to get coverage till September (due date Nov 7th). I'm almost to full blown panic mode because I know I need to see a doctor and start getting things figured out, but I'm stuck in this waiting game. My last appointment was the big sonogram at 19 weeks and I'm now at 27 weeks. If it wasn't for my little girl kicking all the time I would probably be in major freak out mode. As is the hubby is so stressed with trying to get flight school stuff figured out that I've been kind of internalizing all my worry. I would just really appreciate an appointment at this point just so I know everything is OK. Wow...that was long sorry...in other words, I have no hospital picked out (because we don't even know what insurance will cover), no doctor, and I have an apparently large need to vent. ;-) I hope none of you ladies are having any of these issues either, because right now they're pure hell.

Would a local county health clinic be an option?  I know they usually charge based on what you can afford.  It might be a good temporary solution until you get on Tricare.  You should love it once you get on it.  My dad is retired Air Force and he and mom still have it and even out here in the civilian world it's really good coverage.  They get a lot of stuff written off after insurance pays.

  • We are having to do it at a couple of hospitals because there is a major baby boon where we live, and people have been getting turned away from their hospital of choice.
  • I really need to get my ass moving on the pre-registration forms. I hope it can be done online. Although I find it interesting that tours plus fill out the forms are mentioned in a lot of comments. My hospital doesn't really require tours or only for new moms? It is one of the optional classes. Since it's the same hospital I delivered at twice, I'm really hoping they don't make me do a tour. ;) it has been 7 years though... but everything looks the same based on the big brother, big sister class/tour I brought DD and DS to.

Girl, it's time for you and DH to start making some waves!! He has a first sergeant, use him/her to support you. That is ridiculous that you have not seen a doctor and have nothing planned, no wonder you are stressing. I am so sorry you are going through this with no support . Light a fire under DH's butt! Big hugs!!!
