What are your thoughts about giving LO a small blanket, a "nigh nigh" as called by my 3 year old. DS can be screaming his head off, give him one and after three seconds of snuggling that silky piece of heaven at his face, he's out.

I know it goes against all the SIDS guidelines, but curious if anyone uses one yet?

    I let DD use hers for naps. Usually not at night but the other night I did when she wouldnt settle at all. She's teething and for some reason that animal head blanket calms her down.

    LO goes to sleep with a little owlie blankie most naps and sometimes at night. It's the only thing that gets to settle on her own. We do go in and take it away once she is asleep and check on her often until then

    I use the a+a bamboo blankets they are soft thin and breathable.

    I started giving my older two A& A blankets to snuggle at 6 mos. I'll wait until then for this one as well. She's already easily soothed by her fingers.

    We cut up an a+a blanket into hanky-sized "loveys". We added a satin border to one, but he just likes the small blanket!

    ETA:I give it to him for naps and night sleep.

    DS loves his lovies. He has several different kinds..one with an animal head, a taggie and a couple that are just small blankets. He loves them more than his pacie! He likes all different kinds. I let him nap with one if I am with him and he gets one in the car too. As for bedtime I give him a small washcloth to hold and cuddle.

    Ds used one starting around 4-5 months. Dd hasn't needed one

    DD had a "pinky" That damn thing would get lost all the time and we'd have to back track all over town to find it. For FOUR YEARS. I don't think I want to do that again.

    LO has a stuffed bunny ,1 of 3 used in rotation, when not with her they are in my bed, I was told this might help if they smells of me. She loves it, having had a blankie until recently I'm all for giving her a security object.

    We use a muslin blanket and if it's cooler LO has a crocheted blanket as well.  I'm sure lots of people will think I'm a terrible mother, but I don't take them away.  He loves his blankets and I'm not risking waking him up by taking them away.  Obviously if they're in his face we move them.  He also has Mario and Luigi stuffies in his bed with him.

    Cora has a birdie, a duckie, and a giraffe. I'm alternating them until she picks a clear favorite. She has them for naps but not at night while I'm sleeping yet. She is now rolling both ways though so maybe soon.
