Losing weight

So a little history first I think. I have been on so many different types of birth control. Every single time I go on it I gain weight. And every time I go off it I lose weight. I lose weight without changing my diet or exercise. By the way I'm talking gaining about 50 and losing about 50. So pretty significant.

My husband and I really wanted to get pregnant so 3 months after I stopped taking birth control I was pregnant! Yay! But now I'm 29 weeks along and I have lost upwards of 35 pounds. My ob is concerned and I am constantly under scrutiny by many people for trying to lose weight. But I am absolutely not trying. I eat all the time mostly healthy I think but I love cake. :)

My belly is growing so much but people are always saying in my face my arms ya da ya da that I am losing weight. It is becoming very stressful when I receive looks from co workers and sometimes friends. I know I should let it roll off but it's hard.

Any thoughts?

If your doctor isn't concerned then you are fine. Not sure about your size but often plus size women shouldn't gain more than 15 pounds throughout a pregnancy.

As long as lo is growing correctly I would've worry. And be happy that your are the magical pregnant woman who loses weight instead of gaining.

Eta. If doc is concerned maybe you should meet with a dietician and start keeping a food journal. You may not be eating enough.

  • Sorry I could have explained more. The ob is fine with the weight loss and understands the reason. She was concerned and is now fine with it. Baby is perfect! Growing beautifully and seems perfectly normal. I'm mostly having a difficult time with coworkers and some friends.
  • Ignore people who give you weird looks and listen to your doctor. None of their business.
