Re: GTKY (August 8)

  • 1. I don't know a song that is called "BABY COME OUT" but if there was one, I'd be singing it.
    2. I think the way we interact and talk to our cats might be something best kept private. :) Goofballs totally.
    3. Well, outside of our wills and POA's I have checked off all the pre-baby critical to-do's on my list (including getting a new phone and a new car, which I did not think I'd accomplish!). I still have a list a mile long of "nice to have's" but those aren't showstoppers. Seeing some friends, walking the lake and going to yoga, and getting in our last bits of time with J before it all changes - that's what's up for us!
    Lil'mamaz was born on Aug 21, 2014! She's PERFECT!

It's been a long road to here...
    Me (43) and J (45) - same sex couple. And we don't feel 40+!

Mar. '13 - Missed m/c at 16w1d, baby boy stopped growing at 15w4d
Loss due to umbilical cord clot...baby was perfect. :(
    Jul '13 - FET#1 - c/p
    Sept. '13 - FET#2 - BFN
    Dec.' 2, 2013 - FET#3 with our last chance embie - BFP!!!
    Dec' 26, 2013 - hb!!
EDD 8/20/14 with a baby girl!
    Little S was born on 8/21/14 - 8lb, 14 oz and 20 inches long.

  • 1. If you could have one song be the "theme song" for your day what would it be?

The first song that popped in my head this morning was "I Was Made for Sunny Days" by The Weepies.  The first time I heard it was at the mall in Bath and Body Works and it immediately reminded me of camp, summer, and how happy my wife makes me.  I had it downloaded before we left the store.  It is a perfect theme song, for a not blazing hot, August afternoon!

    2. Is there something that you and/or your partner does that is weird or embarrassing (meaning you wouldn't necessarily do it in front of other people)? Example: songs, dances, a weird routine.

There is so much peculiarity between @firstcomeslove2013 and myself that is embarrassing.  Our house is not "normal".   We sing, we dance, we interpretive dance, and we make each other do performances on commend sometimes.  This morning, before getting out of bed, for no reason, we sang a lovely duet of the Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World" for no real reason...

    3. What's up for the weekend?

We are headed up to North East Ohio to see A's family.... mostly her 89 year old Grandma, who is pretty much my Grandma too.  She is the anti-thesis of sweet old lady.  She is sassy, loves to gossip and is usually grumpy.  Nana and I have a very special relationship so I am really looking forward to it.  I also love spending time with A's parents!

Baby Hayden Frances born 12/20/14 at 11:11 a.m...  Our perfect little miracle.  Here's how we got here:

    My lovely wife:

    5 IUI's January 2013-June 2013- 3 Cycles with Clomid- BFN

Myself: Genderqueer guy who hopped in the driver's seat of the baby making train

IUI #7- 8/21- Not monitored, 50mg Clomid- BFN

September and October: Missed Cycles due to vacation and a Half Marathon

IUI #8- Monitored and triggered on day 15, with one 23x18mm follicle- BFN on 11/19/2013

December:  Moved onto to see an RE to make a good plan.

IUI #9- 1/1/2014 Natural Cycle, BFP on 1/15/2014,  6W Ultra-Sound Reveals nothing in Gestation Sack... Natural M/C at 7W, 2/3/2014

    IUI #10 3/21/2014- Natural Cycle- BFP on 4/1/2014 (please don't be an April Fools.  Beta #1 13dpiui- 48, Beta #2 16dpiui- 416, Beta #3 1018...

    1st Ultrasound- 4/22/2014- 6w4d HB- 134!

  • I have a few minutes while both girls are sleeping and my computer is kinda working, so let's see if I can get this done quickly.

    1. Theme song for  today, hmmm.  the first song that pops in my head is "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from Lion King.  We usually spend Friday nights trying to keep our eyes open until at least 9pm, we are usually extra lovey and bond over being exhausted.

    2.  We do little things like scrunch our noses at each other, say cute little things and we have tons of inside jokes.  We say lots of inappropriate things like my wife tells me that she loves my fat ass, no one else could ever get away with saying that.

    3. Tonight we try and relax, tomorrow we are hoping to hit a farmers market in the morning, we have a birthday party/pool party in the afternoon.  Sunday we have our last birthing class and then a small graduation party for my step dad at my moms house.  We seriously have every weekend booked for the next month up until I am due, eeekkk!

  • 1. Hmmm.... Is it cliche to say Last Friday Night (TGIF) by Katy Perry? LoL if only for the TGIF part!

    2. We don't really do anything that we wouldn't do in public.... I'm pretty "reserved" so I'm not one to go and act all crazy.... And I don't have issues with PDAs so I have no qualms about holding her hand or kissing in public

    3. Apparently J's dad is coming down for the weekend.... Sigh.... But aside from that, I'm going with my mom and sister to go school clothes shopping for my niece! She's so excited for kindergarten.... My sister said it's going to be a long weekend for her lol (she apparently keeps asking if it's time for school yet!)
  • 1. If you could have one song be the "theme song" for your day what would it be? Wow, not even sure. Probably "The Eye of the Tiger" lol....but "come one out and play baby" would be a great song----if it existed
    2. Is there something that you and/or your partner does that is weird or embarrassing (meaning you wouldn't necessarily do it in front of other people)? Example: songs, dances, a weird routine. I'm sure. However we have some pretty great friends that whenever I do something embarrassing and stupid, they know about it----even if I do it and they are not there!
    3. What's up for the weekend? One of Ms long time friends is coming to stay and visit. We have a graduation dinner for another one of our friends tomorrow. Sunday will be a resting day as this is my last weekend before the school year starts back up. Hopefully won't go on bedrest soon

  • 1. If you could have one song be the "theme song" for your day what would it be?

Lonesome Wind Blues, by Rhonda Vincent.  We are hanging out all day in the house because there was a hurricane sneaking up on us.  It didn't amount to much, thankfully.
    2. Is there something that you and/or your partner does that is weird or embarrassing (meaning you wouldn't necessarily do it in front of other people)? Example: songs, dances, a weird routine.

No, she is a really awesome, always.  I know you might read this, Baby. :)
    3. What's up for the weekend?
Teaching riding lessons tomorrow.  DW is taking baby W to swim class in the morning.  We have our rad bi-weekly pot-luck parents group, too.  Then Hurricane Julio come Monday.  Tonight our neighbors are having an impromptu pot-luck to celebrate the not-storm.

"Things separate from their stories have no meaning. They are only shapes. Of a certain size and color. A certain weight. When their meaning has become lost to us they no longer have even a name. The story on the other hand can never be lost from its place in the world for it is that place.” ― Cormac McCarthy, The Crossing

  • 1. If you could have one song be the "theme song" for your day what would it be?
The Be Happy song from Despicable Me. Even when it was being over-played on the radio a few months ago I still loved it.

    2. Is there something that you and/or your partner does that is weird or embarrassing (meaning you wouldn't necessarily do it in front of other people)? Example: songs, dances, a weird routine.
OMG- everything. We're ridiculous. Today I attempted to twerk. Ummm... Yeah.  Anyway lots of silliness. We talk all the time (non-stop actually) so perhaps the oddest thing to an outsider would be that we will sit in the same room and text each other (or skype or chat).  We'll be cracking up with tears and all with in a few feet of one another. But there's something about typing that's just different so...

    3. What's up for the weekend? It started Thursday night with a date!  One of the mom's from the babysitting co-op came to watch our kids. It cost most of my accrued points (our barter system). We went to go see Guardians of the Galaxy on IMAX 3D. Soooo worth it. We both had no expectations but loved it. Today my cousin from Germany now living on the East Coast came over to visit with us. It was great to see her (its been 10 years).
Tomorrow we're hosting a BBQ for about 20 people at our house.  Sunday I'm hoping to be lazy somehow.
