Just wondering if anyone due in March is busy doing shots....of meds not liquor!

Hi there! I am due march 3rd. This is my second pregnancy and I am starting on Lovenox next week. I did the same with my first and then switched to heparin at 35 or 36 weeks, can't remember. It is extremely annoying and I have permanent darker spots on both sides of my belly from the shots. But on the other hand better be safe.

Don't rub the site? Never used it before last night and the shot burned so I rubbed gently to get the medicine to move/disolve. After the premature birth of my son my doc ran tests and discovered I have the factor 5 (Leiden) mutation aka blood clotting disorder. Not sure if it caused my pregnancy issues but we are taking the safe road.

I'm doing shots, but just Progesterone and Estradiol from my IVF. Been doing them since June and have a few more weeks left. My back side is sore, swollen, and bruised. Basically, it looks like a war zone. But it's all worth it.

I'm on Lovenox as well. I have Factor V and Prothrombin clotting disorder.

Me too, will be starting soon as preventive due to factor V Leiden and previous complications. My hubby enjoys giving me the shots just a little too much...haha

I *believe* I was tested for all the clotting disorders but my hip replacements + baby weight + back pain may make me less mobile than I like--so I'm hoping the doc doesn't put me back on the shots. My old hematologist had me still do shots before international flights though...I should probably ask my PCP about that.

I'm sorry ladies just remember not to rub the injection site even if you really want to!

I'm on lovenox twice a day. I have a few black bruises about the size of my palm. So dark I have to wear thick underwear with white pants or they show.
I only bruise for my morning shot, not sure why. I am about to start moving to my love handles as my belly is pretty covered with bruises now. My doctor is hoping to wean me down to once a day depending on my next Doppler bloodflow ultrasound.

Just took my first lovenox shot last night. I had severe IUGR and hypertension with my son that may or may not have been related to a blood clotting disorder so we are doing shots as a possible preventative of having another preemie, DS was delivered at 34 weeks

What condition prompts the need for the lovenox? (If I might ask?) I used Lovenox and Warfarin after I had a blood clot that developed after one of my first hip surgeries.

Doc asked me about my history but said he wasn't terribly concerned at this point...

Also those dark spots!!! Make sure not to rub the injection site. I forget if ice was good or not...something I did halfway through them made the spot not bruise as badly but I forget...

It will burn too

( When I rub it my bruising would increase exponentially. If I didn't rub it and I think, iced it, the bruise would be smaller. I'd get bruises the size of a softball when I rubbed it

Hey ladies, sorry I posted then my LO decided to wake for 2hrs last night. Ahhhg! I have antiphospholipid syndrome. With the first I did heprin the whole time but this doctor wasn't comfortable with heprin so I'm on lovenox this time around. The dark spots on both sides of my belly button were almost faded away! It's already better since I only do it once per day instead of twice like last time. It's nice to know others are in the same boat. Sometimes it's really hard to do the injections but I know it will all be worth it! Here's to a healthy 8/9m!
