Ofcourse we tell family, close friends, and work first. But how and when are you choosing to tell everyone on facebook? I know I want to use a picture but im at a loss for ideas!
We are announcing to family around week 12 and we will be announcing via Facebook at 14 weeks. We will be in Disney World at the time so we will take some pictures there to help with the announcement. I'm thinking something like this:
@poohniki I'll be in Disney during week 15 for me and we were planning something similar. I was thinking about taking a pic with Mickey and holding a sign telling about the due date.
Me(29), DH (29) Married December 2011 TTC#1 Since November 2013 Dec. 2013... BFP! 12/31/13... Natural M/C 1/29/14 (8 weeks) July 2014...BFP!... 17dpo beta 581...19dpo beta 1419!!.. stick baby, stick! EDD: 3/20/15.. It's a boy!
I might do something with my dogs. I've seen on Pinterest a thread where they put a sign next to the dogs that says, "Guard dog watch begins March 2015." Not sure if that's over used, but friends I know have done the shoes, writing a message in the sand when they were at the beach, and posting the sonogram picture. I'm not positive. I may even just say, "Hey... If you haven't heard, I'm having a baby." Lol I doubt people will be more or less excited based on how I post the news.
@nannabee21 great idea. We also want to do a character picture. Since it took over 5 years to get pregnant we are going to have the Fairy Godmother hold a sign that says (like in my siggy) "even miracles take a little time" and we will hold a sign that says "our miracle is due march 2015" We are thinking of doing the gender reveal there too. Going to give them envelope to guest relations and have them write the gender on our dessert plate at Cinderella's castle. I'm going so overboard but I am ridiculously excited.
Probably should have mentioned how to announce for first time moms. I think the siblings announcing it is WAY too adorable, but im not there yet.
If I could get this darn app to upload a picture, that would be wonderful. Its the first ive seen like it (but I also dont use pinterest). Its of the mommy holding the 12 week sonogram up to her belly, with her hands making a heart.
I don't think the shoes are overused I've actually never seen anyone do it so I may do that as well. My first idea was to throw a tea party to make the announcement.
We will be announcing in the next couple weeks probably. Since we put up videos/photos of our ferrets pretty often, we made a video with them to announce. I am only going to saw 'Make sure you watch until the end'. Nothing about 'they have a surprise' or anything. So it will be interesting to see who actually watches it.If people don't clue in, we will put something about us expecting a few days later.
@ruemorgan Thanks! I was hoping it would still be cute even though we used shoes and I have seen that a bit lately. But I figure with the ferrets it should hopefully work:) We had to load the two pairs of our boots with food lol
My Husband, James, with our 3 furbabies, Charlie, Blaze, and Dusty!
Definitely check Pinterest, there are a lot of fun ideas. I've only seen the shoes thing once IRL and I think it's cute. Everything has been done before so I wouldn't worry about that part, just do what you like the best!
Pinterest has adorable ideas - DH and I are both huge football fans so I looked up football baby announcements and got tons of inspiration - that and I'll be 12 weeks right in time for the kickoff of regular season - just go with something you love and it'll be perfect!
I agree with doing something you love and something that suits you. We are also really into football, so we may do something with Patriots shirts or something with us and our dog, or may just put a big sister shirt on our dog since she is our first baby
We also gutted our whole house and it took two years, so we may the house in there. So either football theme, house reno theme or dog related since those things would probably fit our personalities and such the best.
I wanted to wait until later for obvious reasons, but DH was so excited he wanted to tell the world, so I told him I needed to make something cute. We do pictures every year for the holidays so I took a pic from then and did this. It could work for FTM as well, just having the two of you in the pic with your respective weeks. Easy to do. (sorry it's huge)
We are planning on announcing it on my 30th birthday on a cake. We are going to have our 12 week ultrasound the day before my 30th birthday so if all goes well we are going to do it that way. It'll be the best birthday present ever!
I havent really thought long and hard about what I am going to do yet for our "facebook announcement" but my husband is a super sports fan so incorporating that would probably be really cute and special for him.
I might buy some onesies of our favorite teams or something. But I do agree with checking pinterest!
We made little baby grows for my family, and presented each separately so that we could record their individual reactions. We also made a magic mug which only reveals the message once it's filled with hot water, so we went round for a cup of tea and replaced their mugs with the magic ones...for us the best part was recording their reactions...we get to replay those moments again and again. When we've told everyone important personally, we will do a funny photo reveal on FB but we haven't decided on what to do as we want it to be different and not that obvious like the baby shoes or anything like that. I think we will make a combination of random status updates to get people guessing and then post something really funny like my husband with a big belly...saying 'Due March 2015'.

We will be in Disney right before 2nd tri starts so we will take a special picture w/ DD in a Big Sis shirt and me in a Future Mousketeer shirt (the appliqur right on my blump) to post when we get home/ after out NT scan.
I haven't looked up any ideas yet, but since it is only a few weeks away, perhaps some kind of play on words with Labor Day would be fun? I'll be 13ish weeks then, so that might be a good time to post something!
We had pictures taken with DS holding a sign saying "Every super hero needs a sidekick - arriving March 2015" For family I made a "summer fun" photo book. We've been showing it at the same time as I've been sharing our Disney World photo book, I make books all the time, so it's not out of the norm. On the final page of the summer book are the announcement photos. It's been fun getting reactions. They're reading it a few times and then it registers. Grandmas are catching on faster than grandpas. We couldn't do my mom in person bc she's out of state so I mailed her books. She was at WDW with us so I told her I sent her a WDW photo book. She looked at the summer book first, was screaming with excitement on the phone. For FB I'll just put the photos online for everyone to see. I'll put the announcement photos last, a little surprise for those who click through all the pics.
Since there's such an age gap between DD and this baby I kinda like the "only child no more - march 2015" concept. I also like "we're expanding our family by two feet" with a line up of shoes. Both are kinda played out though and I'm not sure I'll do either. It might very well wind up being "no need to do math - I was definitely KTFU at the wedding! See?" with a u/s pick as proof
We ended up getting "summer" pictures done with us and DD holding a sign that says "mommy is due with baby #2 March '15" we did some like that and then changed her shirt with one that says "I'm the best Big Sister!" And with that she was holding a sign that said "only child expiring March 2015". And we also did a clothes line that had four pairs of jeans on it. We saw that one on Pinterest and I fell in love. We did a few to see what we like the best. Our photographer had us do a couple other things too. Typing all that seems a little over kill but I guess we have some to pick from. My plan is to have a cookout and just put some of them up in the naked frames I have in our house to see if anyone notices. Otherwise I will have our family just look at our "summer" pics
We are big time Disney lovers so I went down this past weekend and took some pics at our favorite places on property, one being where we honeymooned. This is how we will announce to our friends and then the Fb world.
We took a picture that we will share next week on my DH birthday with family. We had balloons in our mouth to simulate bubble gum. I wrote "going to pop" on my balloon and he wrote "March 2015" on his. One balloon is pink and the other is blue. Due to our lack of creativity, I must credit Pinterest for the idea.
We've told close close family already just because it's fairly obvious I'm not feeling well and my MIL asked me point blank in the kitchen when I was only around 5 wks.
We didn't do any type if announcement. My SO was excited and told his family right away. My dad is the only parent who doesn't know and that's only because we haven't seen him in person.
He's never really been into kids...so I'm not expecting much of a reaction from him. We made him a shirt though...hoping to get some sort of reaction out of him.
DS's birthday this weekend and I think we are going to let him 'open a gift' that has something in there announcing the pregnancy to all our friends and a few family members that don't know. I will probably get my sis (who does know) to video tape and we will put that on fb in a couple weeks.
For my first pregnancy, we created a super-cute stop-motion video. It was set to the "Peanuts" music and it was two pair of baby shoes (twins) walking into our home, meeting us and our dogs. We worked on it for awhile. It was awesome.
This time, sadly, I don't have that much energy. Also Pgal brain has me a little nervous about going out with a big bang. However....
We just found out that TWO of my H's nieces are having a baby the first week of March. (They don't know we are too.) They both announced it a day apart, much to each other's surprise) and I am wondering if they thought the other was stealing their thunder a little bit. Little do they know there's the THIRD one coming from me.
Thinking of posting a fortune cookie that says "good things come in threes"... Or something to that effect. It is just SO weird all three if us are due a few days apart. Three little miracles in one family.... !
Am I the only one who thinks a Facebook announcement is weird??? I feel like anyone I really care about, I can tell them individually and anyone else who I don't speak to, doesn't really need an announcement from me about my pregnancy! I don't know, there are all these people on Facebook I've met professionally or in grad school or even my parents friends that I don't think I need to announce my reproductive plans to! Maybe I'm old fashioned...
