  • My doctor had me do it around 28-29 weeks last time, but I was also pregnant with twins and went early. I don't plan to do it until much closer, like beginning of October.

  • I registered during the tour, which we did at 20 weeks.

We have our tour next week.  I figure they'll tell us about it then...

  • SS.. I'm a scheduled csection so no date yet but sometime the first week of Nov even though I'm due the 17th, that's all I got for now. I am already registered though.
  • I didn't do it until 38 weeks last time. I will be doing it earlier than that this time but no time soon.

  • We have a tour and birth classes scheduled at the hospital in September. I figure we will do it then.

  • The lady that taught our birthing class suggested we do it around 35 weeks so I will prob do it at the end of September.
  • Our hospital won't allow you to register until 28 weeks.

I'm not going in until a little bit closer to the date (probably about 28 weeks). Plus, our hospital doesn't do tours or anything like that (not even with their childbirth class -- apparently it's a privacy issue?) so I'm not exactly in a hurry to get it done.

ETA: My OB hasn't said anything about registering. The only reason I knew about pre-registering was because my friend, who just gave birth in the same hospital I'll be giving birth at, mentioned it. She said it was NBD, though. Just if I got a chance to do it I should.

  • Planning on registering at the hospital tour in a few weeks.

  • I picked up the packet when I went in for the fetal echo a couple of weeks ago and looked through it. I'll get around to registering online soon. Really. Maybe this weekend even.
  • My hospital asked that we fill out the registration form by 16 weeks and take the tour by 20 weeks. I didn't end up having to "register" because my NT test was also done at the hospital's fetal diagnostics center so they took care of it for me.

I'm a big fan of following directions and I couldn't help but notice when I got the hospital tour done just before I turned 20 weeks and was probably the least pregnant person in the group. In fact, we took the one-day childbirth class last weekend to get it done before school starts and there were still two couples in the class that hadn't taken the tour yet and are due in September.
  • So I'm in the process of changing my last name (only a year late) and wanted to finish all of that before I filled out the paperwork. I should be okay...
  • The two hospitals we had a choice between offered free classes if you register with them.  So we went on a tour of both early on and decided which hospital then registered with that one to get all but the birthing class for free.  We've done 2 so far and my husband goes to Daddy Boot Camp on Tuesday.  We still have a breastfeeding class to go to and the grandparents are taking the grandparents class.  We are trying to decide between the 1 day birthday class or the 12 week Bradley Method class which the person teaching is thinking about putting off a couple weeks to get more people, which would put us really close to the due date if not a little after.  But the cost difference is extreme.

  • I just checked my hospital's website and it says not to do it until 30 weeks.  I figure someone will tell me when to do it anyway.

  • My doctor had me fill it out the first time I met her when I was about 17 weeks. I didn't even realize I had done it until I went to get the forms off the hospital website and they all looked so familiar. It's probably a good system to get them filled out at the first meeting so no one forgets.
So you had to register? I thought that was just an American thing. Nobody has mentioned anything to me about registering. My midwife asked me which hospital I preferred but said we will call both hospitals the day of delivery and just see which one had more availability at the moment. Doesn't seem condusive to registering ahead of time..

Now I'm confused, too. What would they need from us other than a name, DOB and health card?

when I filled out my paper it had like where you work if your full/part time. Also wanted to know about my boyfriends info. His works address his name, DOB, and then emergency contacts. Of course health insurance too. I really wanted to get that done and outta the way because we have to already fill out paperwork for my SO to be on the birth certificate since we aren't married. It was just easier.

I've heard alot of women complain about hospital towels so they brough their own. I'm gonna ask on my tour to feel their towels lol! Is that weird? Haha!!

    GENIUS. That is pure genius.
I thought so! I was thinking like well I'm here.. I wanna know lol. I want to ask about the toilet paper too haha! I mean after pushing a baby out I want something very soft. None of that crap ass tissue paper shit.

Believe me...after having a baby you will NOT want any sort of toilet paper anywhere near you!  Your peri bottle will be your best friend :)

Lol I've heard of those, but being a FTM I have no idea what it is. I suppose I will definitely find out though! I'm guessing it's like a little spray bottle for there. I shall ask Dr. Google :)
  • This thread is making me so jealous. I wish our hospital offered half the stuff you all are mentioning. Basically mine is a place to go have a baby (with a level III NICU so that's a plus).

  • Guess I should've read a little a head in my pregnancy book lol. I haven't done my tour yet so I can ask these questions then. But my OB office is in the hospital I'll be delivering at. I still have to even though they have all my info?

I'm guessing not .. I also go to a clinic where I'm delivering and they set up an account for me that will follow me until birth. I have the card with my account info in it.
  • My hospital doesn't have you pre-register...which I thought was weird but whatev. One less thing to do, I guess?

My MW and the OB practice are attached to the hospital too. She mentioned last time that we would be discussing labor at my next appointment, which is my GD one, so I assume I'll get paperwork during that. I have my anesthesiologists consult at some point in the third trimester to discuss my scoliosis and epidural (eeekk). What I'm really concerned about, we're moving farther away from the hospital. There's a hospital about 20 mins away from my future home and then another 20 mins to my current hospital. It's all highway and I just hope I can make it. My MW is only at one hospital.
I was worried about this too.  The birthing center we are going to is a hour away from home and work but I LOVE my OB so didn't want to find someone here in town.  But after reading about how long labor tends to take, especially for first time moms, I'm not letting it freak me out anymore.
