Hi ladies. I am due with my second baby in November. With my first, I had to be induced at the 42 week mark with and no sign of labor. Like most doctors, mine doesn't let you go past 42 weeks. Anyway, I ended up having a c-section because they said my hip bones were too narrow and baby was stuck. Apparently, it isn't impossible to have a vaginal birth this way, but it depends on the angle the baby comes down. If I hadn't had to be induced, it might have been fine. Anyway, they said I could try a VBAC this time if I want, but there is only a 50% chance of success. My plan is to go to the 42 week point and if I don't go into to labor on my own, I will just schedule the section rather than be induced again, because frankly, that sucked. One of my worries is about breastfeeding after a scheduled c-section. I read somewhere once (no idea where now) that labor actually signals the body that it is time to start producing milk. Do you think there is any truth to this? I guess I am looking for some success stories and/or advice about breastfeeding after a scheduled c-section, in case it comes to that for me. We had a hard enough time after my I unscheduled one, and I don't want to make it any harder on myself than it already is. It took four days for my milk to come in last time, and even the lactation consultant was pushing formula on us. Anyway, thanks in advance for any words of wisdom you might have!
Re: Breastfeeding success after scheduled c-section...success stories and advice?
I think it took 4-5 days for my milk to come in, but that is still considered normal.
When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.

You should be fine to BF. It was a little more difficult to find comfortable nursing positions but we made it work. Good luck!

BFP#6 Surprise! Here comes baby #2! Harper Elizabeth born 12/17/13 via c-section
Just had twins via scheduled Csection at 37.6 wks in May and they're doing great too (we've never supplemented).
It did take the twins longer to regain their birth weights, but I think it was mainly because they were born so much earlier. I did wonder if not having the 48 hours of pitocin caused it to take just a little longer for my milk to come in though.
I really wouldn't worry, even if there's a slight delay in milk supply, it will still come in (and you'll start out a lot less tired- I found the scheduled Csection way better than the induction/Csection experience). One thing- make sure you schedule the Csection for a time when lactation consultants are available for the rest of the time you're in the hospital (in other words not on a Friday).
