Reading all your responses really makes me feel better! I haven't had any alcohol since I got pregnant and I really miss a nice glass of white wine. I may treat myself. Hopefully hubby doesn't judge too much..,,,
A small glass if wine here or there, or a couple weak mimosas. I don't do it often at all, but every three or four weeks I enjoy one and then of course justify it by having double the water.
I've had two glasses of moscato. One in May and the other like two weeks ago. The one in May wasn't worth it so I had decided not to do it again but this last time everyone was sharing a bottle and I felt left out. It was super delicious. But I may wait until thanksgiving or something for another. One every once in awhile won't kill me or hurt the baby. Everyone keeps saying that in December I'm going to have a great time but since I'm planning on bfing I feel like it'll be this way for awhile. Oh and a friend of mine ordered me a gift in January, the wine glasses that Olivia pope uses on scandal! They are beautiful but they were in back order and the first thing she told me when I told her I got preggo was that I wouldn't be able to utilize her gift! I used them last week but I can't wait to use those babies on a regular basis.
jessblair101 - Do you use cleaning chemicals in your home? Do you drink/eat out of plastic? Do you eat fried foods, carbs, chocolate (god forbid, it has caffeine in it!) and anything else deemed "unhealthy". Do you use cosmetics & body products with parabens and other chemicals? Do you only eat organic foods? Do ever inhale car exhaust or polluted air? Have you gone through a body scanner at an airport while pregnant?
Maybe it would be best if you spend the rest of your pregnancy in a bubble to avoid anything that could be even potentially harmful.
Not only do I drink a tiny bit of wine once in a while. I drink a little coffee, almost daily, gasp! I went way over the edge two weeks ago however and drank half of a Diet Coke, I'm sure my baby is going to be born with 12 toes now because I broke the rules.
The most I've had was a virgin margarita or a glass of tonic water. I figured I've only got a few more months to wait, it won't be that hard! However, my best friend is coming up for Christmas and baby's birth and she is bringing my favorite craft beer from a small brewery down there. I wonder if it will even still taste good to me!
Looking back one of my first hints that I was pregnant was my sudden distaste for margaritas. I miss my occasional drinks, and I'm DYING for a blue moon, but I'm too scared to take a sip for fear that because my tastes have changed for other things that I'm going to find I don't like the way it tastes anymore and will ruin it for me
I really haven't even smelled alcohol tbh. The one thing I can't stand now though is Chinese food...wahhh! I can't even stand the smell of fried rice. That started when I was going through morning sickness though. Oh! And for some odd reason sharpies smell really nice like perfume or flowers lol. I don't get these hormones!
Not me! For a while there it was fried rice and potstickers
I think I will take my medical background and the advice of my OB/GYN over your fears. But thanks for basically telling everyone of us that we're careless, assholes who don't love our babies.
Cheers!
Also: I'm so happy this thread is still living. I am not advocating for having a glass or wine. But, there's no reason to for anyone to be a jerk on a soapbox about medically-proven low-risk behavior (caffeine, wine, nail polish, hair dye, fish, fruit...) Holy crap, people.

We all just suck. They are perfect. End of story. Go ahead and enjoy your wine, red bull, bleached blonde high lights, neon green nail polish and tuna. For you will be flamed either way

I draw the line at red bull. Gross.
HAHA. I haven't had a red bull in over a year. I prefer the white can of Monster. I forgot what it's called. I only like my RedBull with vodka in a bomb glass. :-)
Since I'm a terrible person, I'll stand behind anything "with vodka."
Re: Drinking thread -- riiiight
