I'm waiting outside the social security office so I can get all my name change stuff done today. They don't open for another hour and there are 50 people in front of me. Also, it's Texas and 80 already. (
I am not happy. The fire alarm battery in DD's room is dying so it beeps every minute. Somehow she is sleeping through it but it is keeping me awake and I can't change it w/o waking her up.
My co workers surprised me this morning with the high chair I put on my registry (for the discount!) and a bunch of sheets and nursing covers. So very sweet of them. I'm pretty sure I turned bright red being put on the spot like that! ">
I remembered to grab some quarters for the soda machine before I left for work this morning, and when I got to work the soda guy was here restocking and he put orange Crush in! I was so happy I could have cried. It was in there for a while and then a month ago they randomly replaced it with Mt. Dew Baja Blast and I was pissed.
Oh! I just remembered, after our ultrasound we're going to Walgreens to get DH the TDAP/Whooping Cough Vaccine, picking out nursery paint, and having dinner. Should be fun!
I am excited to be in Nacogdoches today. All of my dad's side lives here. I get to see my littlest sister and my dad, see the bakery where my cousin works, get a pedicure with my aunt and go to a little cousin's bday party. Such a great change of pace since we live eight hours away from the closest family member.
I had a full on meltdown last night because I was in the basement cleaning the washer, which was way grosser than I thought it would be, and DH didn't come down to see me when he got home. He said hi from the top of the stairs and just went on upstairs to his computer. I haven't ugly cried since first tri, so I think it freaked him out a little.
I have packed about 2/3 of DSs toys for our move (9 days and counting), and I'm feeling terrible because he doesn't understand whats going on and why his toys keep dissapearing. I probably should have left out more toys until next week, but I was tired of tripping over them.
I still have to find someone to paint the nursery, but I'm too lazy to ask my friends for recommendations. Or I forget. Let's just go with forget.
Also, I just dropped our foster cat off at to be spayed, and was told there's a $5 surcharge for paying with an amex. I know amex charges a slightly higher fee per transaction, but $5? really?

I spent way too much time last night online trying to figure out why it's usually the calf muscle that cramps in the middle of the night and not a different muscle, like the bicep, for example. I didn't find an answer, and now I'm obsessed. Does anyone know why?
I waited until Monday night to order a dress for my shower on Sunday.... (I don't procrastinate at all) I wasn't sure it would be here in time, but it will be here today!
I am so happy about this.
Another random - just have to Aww for a second. A family member on DH's side hand knitted us some adorable blankets and hats for our LO! Mint Green and Grey like the nursery! I am in love with these, and it was such a thoughtful gift!! **Can't get my other picture to load, but here is one of the 3 blankets
I wanna throat punch my midwife today. I had an appt. yesterday and she made me feel like an AWFUL person. I apparently failed my glucose test. I was told, "No news is good news" NEVER received a phone call. So when I got into the room, she said, "How've you been feeling" I was like, fine, she was like, "well you failed your 1 hour glucose test and your iron counts are boarderline. So you need to come in and do the 3 hour test. My office tried to contact you." SO I said, well they have my cell phone, which has voicemail, so even if I missed a call, I should have received a voicemail. So I asked her what number they had on file, and they had the wrong area code. DH and I just moved, so we have a different area code....they put the local one down. I'm sorry, how is this my fault?!? THEN I asked how much I failed by and she said, just a few points, I'm sorry, but WTF does that mean?? 2 or 3 or 20??
SO then she continued on to ask me if I had had cake or something the night before the test. I hadn't, my DH and I eat VERY well! I told her just that, and she said, "Well then why are your iron counts boarderline?" SERIOUSLY! She was like, well you need to come in for the 3 hour and you need to fast before this one. Fine. I said, how about in 2 weeks, before my next appointment. She said, No, how about tomorow. I said, No, I need time to notify my boss. SERIOUSLY LADY?? I understand that this is important, but don't be rude to me because YOUR office staff failed at their task!!
She made me feel like a horrible person, and made me feel like it was my fault for failing the test. I'm so pissed I don't know what to do. AND THEN she scheduled me for 4 weeks from now. Why would I move from a 2 week appointment schedule back to 4 weeks???
Sorry for the rant. I am just beside myself right now.
@golfingdarwinfish the Amex thing is bogus! More importantly, did you ever get to indulge in your four dessert bread cravings?! I had a slice of my zucchini bread for second breakfast and it was delish. That cinnamon thing you posted, though, looked incredible. I saw a recipe for pecan bars online and now that's what I'm craving.
He actually brought up a chocolate babka (the one in the pic) because there were no cinnamon available. He said he went to 4 bakeries (He works in NYC, so this probably took all of 5 minutes) and couldn't find zucchini bread. I normally hate chocolate, but the babka is quite yummy!

1. I woke up super early this morning from a dream in which MH was taking care of our newborn, and I was impressed at the calm-down hold he was using (from in breastfeeding book). But then he called our baby Jennifer and I was like WHAT THE WHAT?!
We're having a boy, so the fact that in my dream we had a girl freaked me out. I was also POd that he'd named her (something I never would have) without telling me. I immediately woke him up and told him he was not allowed to name our baby Jennifer on the off chance it's a girl.

So does that mean you and DH made up/came to some sort of understanding? Have fun today!
My brother & SIL gave us their changing table for our nursery yesterday! So last night DH & I cleaned it up & used a magic eraser to to take care of some scuffs on it! We (he) put it in the nursery when we were done & then just sat in there staring at the cribs & changing tables for like 20 minutes. We barely exchanged a word, just soaked in the endless memories we are about to make with our little babes! Everyy time we add some piece of furniture or another detail I get so freaking excited, I can't stand it!

H & I are joining a new church this weekend! I'm both excited and nervous. We'll have to stand in front of the congregation then stand at the doors to greet everyone on their way out. Would it be rude to hold a large purse in front of my stomach so everyone doesn't rub? Or should I just suck it up for a few minutes and let every single person touch me?

Meh, no not really. It was never really discussed and we just went to bed and now its a new day. :-??
@Jennifer18131 I have never witnessed something like that for been members and I have been to many different churches! How interesting! I hope it doesn't deter shy people from joining. I can see how that would be a great, efficient way of everyone meeting the new people, though. Anyway yeah, suck it up and let them touch your belly.

Such a notch. A consistent notch but geez...
Guise. I cant help it. I was an extreme softball player growing up. If something delicious is tossed in my vicinity, I'm gonna snatch it.

It's Friday! (Woohoo!) What's running through your mind today.
Someone told me recently they think skunks smell like burned coffee...I don't get that.
I think lemon juice smells like a skunk, but I still enjoy it in my water every night. Also, am I weird because I don't think the smell of skunk is all that bad?
I looked at the DH love thread yesterday and it was really weird seeing pictures of you ladies like that because I had pictured everyone so differently. I kind of want to forget the pictures I saw and go back to what I think you all might look like. My brain is getting confused otherwise.

It's not a necessity. The pastor offered to do the "invocation" or whatever it's going to be in private because H said that I was a little nervous about standing in front of everyone. But, the point of us joining is to have that Church community and what better way to introduce ourselves than in front of everyone? So, I'm going to do it. And I guess I'll let them touch my belly, too.

Isn't this illegal? I know it's illegal for stores to make a mandatory minimum purchase with a card. It goes against the TOS of credit card companies, and they could lose their right to offer credit cards.
OR, at least when I looked into it here in WV, it was. I was fired up because a gas station told me I had to spend $5 to use my card, and it turned into this huge discussion with my lawyer friend.

Orange Crush is my guilty pleasure, even pre-pregnancy, and IMO the only way to cure a hang over. The can is good, but from the fountain is soooo much better. Now I want orange soda, dammit!
Re: Friday Randoms
