Re: Pregnancy/Delivery: The gift that keeps on giving

  • And of course I have one...

TMI but I'm desperate to hear if anyone else has survived this! Yep, I got the dreaded anal fissure. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

I have my six week appt tomorrow and can not wait to get a referral to a colorectal surgeon. Worse than delivery.

My right foot is still swollen. Just the right one. I'm worried I'll never wear normal shoes again.

  • Weird pelvic pain when I sleep, I thought it went away but I couldn't sleep last night because of it. It isn't in my pelvis it is like the outside of my lady parts, so weird. And like an idiot I forgot to ask about it at my 6wk appt.
  • @Internationalkate‌ I think @MrsCase1‌ might have had a similar situation?

I'm just sick of leaking. I have had crazy heavy bleeding since getting my iud and my boobs are always leaking. I'm sick of bodily fluids.

  • Something is torn in my hip. They couldn't get the bed position right during delivery and DH says I complained about it. Every time I think it's better I swivel and it gets worse again. Hemis are finally starting to die down, but my prolapse isn't.

    Married DH 7/30/11

    CSC arrived 5/7/12

    CHC arrived 6/2/14

  • My feet and fingers are still swollen. Shoes and rings don't fit.

    Hemorrhoids still suck.

My incision scar is weird and numb. I'm trying to rebuild my lower ab muscles, it hurts.

    That's all :)

  • I haven't been able to sit up for more than an hr w/I getting back spasms since 20 weeks pregnant. I am always hunched over and useless most of the time (can't work my desk job). Doing physical therapy and every few days they come up with something new that's wrong with me....twisted vertebrae, spine curvature, bad groin pull, abs are "too hard" in constant spasm, pelvis won't stay aligned....the list goes on and on!!! So over it
  • Reflux, but only after eating chocolate ice cream in the evening. I can have chocolate any other time of day and be fine, but after 9 pm and I'm up puking by 2am.

Linea Negra is still prominent. And I have a pulling sensation in my abdomen just below the belly button. And extreme tail bone pain at the end of the day. Doc said to expect 2-6 months for the tail bone to heal.

Omg I'm so glad you posted this! I've had them for about a month and a half now and still cry/bleed everytime I go to the bathroom. My OB was beyond useless. Let me know how your appt goes girl!

  • When I pee, it's just... different. Thankfully no longer hurts, but the stream goes all over the place, and it never did that before. Last week, I peed between the toilet and the seat, and got it all over the floor. Wtf, gross! I blame the Foley catheter I had with my epi. I think it slightly damaged my urethra.

  • I'm leaking a ridiculous amount of yellow discharge. Like, so much that I thought it was pee until further investigation revealed it's not. At first after I stopped bleeding, it switched right over to this yellow stuff and it smelled horrible. Dr said it was a bacterial infection and gave me clear gel suppositories bc I was nursing and couldn't take the med he originally wanted to prescribe. After I stopped nursing I took a strong oral antibacterial med and that took the smell away, but the amount of discharge is still crazy and comes gushing out in spurts...like, must change pad 4-5 times daily. I need to call the dr back but life has been slightly nutty with DS and two older DDs. 10.5 weeks pp and I am SICK of wearing pads!!
  • I definitely have either a fissure or hemi that comes and goes every couple weeks...not sure which it is, but it ain't right. Can anyone describe the difference in terms of how it feels? Google isn't helping.
  • My pee also goes everywhere. It's so gross!

I'm also still bleeding, Last week, at my 6wk appt, dr sent me for an ultrasound to make sure I didn't have a retained placenta (nearly impossible since I had a section). It showed nothing but a bunch of clots. She prescribed me something to make uterus contract to get the rest out. A week after finishing the meds, I'm still cramping & bleeding. So freaking over this & ready to just rip my uterus out!

  • Swelling as well. I havent tried any shoes since it's been so hot and i just wear my sandals everywhere. My wedding ring is closee to fitting again.

And can I say I am still freakin fat? Not sure if it counts as a symptom... More like a side effect?

Stopped bleeding at 5 weeks period started right before 7 weeks.. Boo tampons hurt but I refuse to wear any more pads lol

Hips are super sore still and so much wider than before. Sucks I am back to pre pregnancy weight but my jeans still dont fit. No one has time to go shopping for new clothes here! LoL

Pooping still makes my vagina hurt. Its a weird annoying feeling.
  • I dread going #2- it ruins my day.

Something in my urethra/inner labia area feel weird and I can't pinpoint what it is or why. I just know it's not normal feeling.

    Still have my linea nigra.
This sums it up well. OB days the linea nigra may be permanent. Also, I have a lovely hemi that I did not have before.

  • Yes the wider than normal hips! What's up with that? I'm still in maternity clothes. Will they ever return to normal (pre-pregnancy)? And will they expand with each subsequent child? Ugh, boobs are huge from BFing and hips are wide from "child-bearing." I miss my old body.
  • Gallstones that I'm pretty sure were caused by pregnancy. Waiting for the referral to a surgeon.
    Saggy belly. I hate it.

@PressLove‌ my linea negra went away after a year.

Yup , me too with these, except my OB yesterday said the linea nigra will fade to almost gone. He did say going in the sun will make it darker and it won't fade as lightly. My hips have also widened a smidge, not that they needed to, and my waist is bigger too.I just got cleared yesterday to work out, so hopefully that won't be an issue anymore. I miss wearing my cute sundresses, but anything with a zipper won't go. My enormous knockers aren't helping.

  • @nickelnichol‌ I had tailbone pain through the whole pregnancy, but a rapid delivery finished me off.

I'm fine unless I sit for more that 15 minutes. Then it's awful. By bedtime it hurts so bad that I'm in tears and DH is afraid to touch me.

Another PP symptom....body odor. Previously I could use a mild deodorant like Dove and feel fresh all day.... Now I feel like I stink. My under arm odor is awful, but I think under boobs sweat is contributing to the over all disgusting feeling.

  • @zolastele‌ I have done much research on the fissure thing...I am side to say I am becoming an expert. The major distinguishing factor between a hemy and a fissure is when pain occurs. With a fissure the pain and bleeding occurs during and after a BM (can last minutes or hours). The pain is intense and is most commonly described as feeling like "passing glass". You may also have stabbing pains that are indicative of anal spasm. There may be a skin tag associated with the fissure. I have had hemys in the past so I knows from the start this was different...worse. Quick tip...if it itches...it's a hemy.

    @katekat8721‌ Will report back!
  • What is AF?
  • Haha now I feel stupid. Thank you!

I have a growth on my boob. It leaks all the time. It's up to 11lbs. It wakes me up several times a night. It makes these awful noises when it gets irritated. Doctor said it was normal after birth.

    Hahahahaha
  • @Internationalkate‌- how have you found relief from these fissures? I'm dying over here...
  • @Internationalkate - I most likely had anal fissures after delivering DS, although they were never clinically diagnosed.  When I was going through the postpartum anal pain with DS, I thought it was hemmorhoids (which I had, as well) and so my OB's office never took me very seriously when I called several times telling them I was in bad pain for hours every day.  They did give me a hydrocortizone suppository that I used for a few weeks and it helped a lot.  Also, I took Metamucil every day to keep my bowel movements easy to pass (Colace didn't work well for me) and made sure not to strain while having bowel movements.  A combination of these three things stopped the pain although it did take a few weeks.

After having DD, I have had a little bit of trouble with hemmorhoids and pain after a bowel movement.  I promised myself that I would be very proactive with getting a prescription suppository, I just couldn't go through what happened after DS again.  After explaining my symptoms to my midwife, she told me that what I had sounded more like an anal fissue than hemmrhoids, hemmrhoids shouldn't hurt very much.  Went home and did some Googling and my symptoms from DS sounded EXACTLY like an anal fissue.  I'm pretty irritated that the OB I had with DS never took me seriously when I called about the pain.

So, basically, I'm so sorry you are going through this having experienced it myself.  I can honestly say that the pain from the anal fissues was the most miserable thing I have ever experienced (and I've had an un-medicated birth).  The severity of the pain was honestly almost as bad as contractions, but there was no break in between and you still need to function (ie. nursing, taking care of your LO, etc).  But I survived and it's all a bad memory now.

If you haven't already, get some Metamucil, don't strain during bowel movements, and ask for Hydrocortizone suppositories.  I hope that the colorectal specialist can help you get some relief as well.

  • @Internationalkate‌ thank you! Definitely a fissure, I don't have any itching at all, just the lovely glass in my ass feeling during and after BM. I'll call my OB.

The BO was totally unexpected...so glad others posted about that!

I'm about 4 weeks PP. I have several numb fingertips in my left hand, which is slightly different than the carpel tunnel I experienced during my pregnancy. My wedding rings do not fit yet.

From everyone's descriptions of fissures, now I wonder if I have one... My first few PP poops weren't bad at all, but a week or so later I was starting to feel like maybe I was straining / opening my stitches - there was a little blood after. : /

My feet feel really different. I had some swelling in the last weeks of PG, and they are not visibly swollen now but they're uncomfortable if I rest one foot on the other for too long, and seem to get an indent. Maybe they are still swollen??

ETA: oh yeah, the sad, saggy belly...
  • I got post partum pupps rash that took weeks to heal because the cream prescribed was low dosage due to breastfeeding.

    Discharge. Wtf?

Hemmoroids, dark stretch marks and out of wack hips still.

  • I have to pee all the time still. I also have night sweats. I hope it is not menopause.
