Light red spotting-TMI warning-UPDATE

I am 6 weeks, 1 day today. Today when I wiped, I had a line of bright red blood. Just the tiniest bit. This is gross, but I put my finger in to check for blood and there was none. I am not sure if the blood came from the other area (I have some GI issues and sometimes have bleeding). I am totally freaking out. I have cramping every day, so I don't know if it is a red blood + cramping=miscarriage situation. I am having an ultrasound today anyway, so I guess we might get some answers. I have had such a bad feeling about this pregnancy (struggled with IF) and now I am fearing the worst. Has anyone else had this experience?

UPDATE: Hey everyone. Thanks for your feedback. The doctor was able to find a strong heartbeat today and said everything looks great. He said as long as I am not having period bleeding, not to worry. I am so relieved! Thanks again.

  • I am currently having similar symptoms. Try not to worry you Dr will check it out and let you know what's up. I had one day one time blood and still have cramps but everything else feels normal.

  • I had cramps with blood at 7 weeks, and a lot of professionals told me I was miscarrying. I didn't. As long as you aren't filling pads and getting severe cramps, don't count yourself out.

  • Sorry you're going through this. If the cramping gets worse or bleeding gets heavier, you might want to call your doc. FX it doesn't happen again!
  • I hope the spotting stops and you get some reassuring news at your U/S.
  • I had spotting at 5 weeks and again at 7 weeks, everything was fine... Monday I had heavier red bleeding (similar to a period) with dull right side cramping. Ran to the doc, got an u/s and saw my little Lucky Charm waving at me with a heartbeat of 174. Tech said everything looks fine and to only be concerned if I'm filling a pad every hour, or passing clots... Still very scared but trying to hold onto the fact I saw baby moving around.
Try to hang in there and good luck at your appointment today!!!!
  • Congrats! I'm so glad you and baby are ok! Hopefully no more scares and an easy 8 more months.

  • So scary! But what others are saying is true, little blood is ok. Plus they say you can bleed a little when the attaching to the uterine wall occurs. With my 1st baby I had extreme cramping a gushing blood one day. Doctors couldn't find anything wrong, they said it may have just been a cyst or something. But again small amounts don't fret, big blood, see a doctor. Glad it sounds like baby is ok :)
  • Glad your appointment went well. Also, yay for a strong heartbeat! Congrats!
