  • The first 8 weeks of morning sickness made me feel like I had an 8 week hangover. I haven't had any desire to drink. Cheers to the Mommy's that can. Have a sip for me :D

  • I am dying for some hard cider but too strong for my liking during pregnancy.  I've had a tiny glass of wine since I found out I was pregnant.  My husband will look at me like  [-X when it comes to a glass of wine or light beer during pregnancy so I rather just not drink it instead of being stared at, ruins the moment haha

  • Now that I'm solidly into the second tri, I'm drinking one glass of wine on the weekends.  My doctor said his wife did, and if it's good enough for their family I figure it's good enough for me.  It tastes so good, and I feel much less deprived.  Love it!

  • I've had some sips here and there, and had a small glass of wine on our 5th anniversary. I plan to have a half glass of pumpkin beer with a cinnamon-sugar rim in the fall (not now though - it's too hot for fall beers to be out already!)

  • Nope, can't do it. Plus DH would probably freak. He gives me the look when I start sniffing his cognac, lol!

But, I'm totally sneaking in bottle of Roscato to the hospital in my delivery bag ;;)
  • I've had about 2 full glasses of red wine, 1 half glass of white, and 1 half class of bubbly throughout this pregnancy.  And sips from time to time of what DH is having.  The further along I get, the more comfortable I feel.  I know it's fine, but like a PP said - once I taste it, I have a hard time stopping when I know I should.  Before pregnancy, I was a glass (or 2) a night type person, so it's been a big adjustment.

  • Oh DH............I'm trying to enjoy my beer and he is burning the ultrasound dvds.  I don't even know why we need more than one copy.  I can see his computer screen as he's also watching them intermittently.  Heartbeat echoing through the room.  I don't know if this is a passive guilt trip or not.

Ha!  When I first read this I thought you meant he was literally "burning" the DVDs - akin to how a person might burn a flag, or a bra, in protest.  In that case I would have said YES - definite guilt trip!  hahaha.

  • I have a little glass of wine about once a week. I drink it over an hour or so period and stop at that, but I'm perfectly comfortable with that and so is my husband. I've had little sips of other people's beers & stuff along the way as well. I'm looking forward to multiple glasses of wine on New Year's Eve!

    First baby Due: 12/17/14

  • I'm allowing myself a half a glass of wine about once a month.  I think I've had 3 half glasses so far.  A few tastes of drinks here and there.  I really miss having a margarita in the sunshine.

HA! Careful that doesn't backfire on you. I'm pretty sure the warm bath and glass of white wine is what put me in labor with DD.

OP - I really wanted some wine 2 weeks ago. Then I went to Google and freaked myself out of it. Damnit.

  • I stopped drinking before we started the IVF, so it's been a while. I was never a beer or wine fan, but I was dying for a Bellini at my friend's baby shower.

  • I had a mimosa with brunch over the weekend. My fave thing! I also take sips of DH's beer here and there. I do miss margarita's in the sun as well - so badly that I ordered a virgin margarita a few weeks back. Ew, no. NOT the same at all.
  • DH called from the rig today and could hear the stress in my voice. He told me he's ordering me to drink a glass of wine and watch trash TV tonight to relax. Usually I don't let him tell me what to do but I think tonight I just might listen! However it won't be TV it will be my book that I can't put down. I can't wait.

  • I definitely miss wine, but I won't take even a sip. I just can't do it and while I miss it terribly, I'm totally content with giving it up for 9 months.

  • My friends think I am odd since I just ask if i can smell their wine/beer.
I did that once to my sister! I felt silly but it smelled amazing. For me it's easier to abstain than to try to stick with a safe amount so I haven't had any alcohol since I found out I was pregnant... But I'm dying for some fireball wisky.

Eta: sorry if I offended anyone with that word. I removed it

She already said sorry and removed the word.
  • I am also just a booze sniffer. When not pregs, I LOVE red wine in the colder months and white in the summer, and RUM. ALL THE RUM.

  • I don't like wine or beer. I have always been a hard liquor girl so I have been indulging in Welch's sparkling grape juice lol
  • @Jezebel3745 I am the same way, I am paranoid Pete when it comes to pregnancy. No alcohol, caffine etc I'm so much of a worry wart!! :-S
  • I would love a drink! I'm more of a hard liquor girl but a glass of wine makes me happy too. I'm just so afraid to do it even with all you ladies that say it's perfectly fine.DH has brought it up a few times saying he doesn't mind (I'm pretty sure he's thinking it will get me in the mood) maybe 3rd tri I'll feel more comfortable

  • I haven't been drinking, mainly because I serve alcohol at work and the smell just turns me off now. But I want wine sooo bad. I went to a winery last month and bought my post-baby bottle. Can't wait for it to taste good to me again!

  • Oh sweety the proof is in the thousands upon thousands of children diagnosed every day because of parents who just had to have a drink

  • I'm just putting my thoughts out there because, if it is absolutely harmful for someone to have a drink or two while they are pregnant, what about the weeks or months before you even find out you are pregnant? So what you are saying is that every woman who in the beginning stages of their pregnancy that drank because they did not know they were pregnant are severally harming their child? I found out 4 weeks after I got pregnant, but I drank in those four weeks, so I have done a horrible thing to my child? I know a lot of women that have and all of their babies are happy and healthy, so I am just confused where this "one drink is harmful" thing comes in.
  • I find it very rude to call anyone on this thread an idiot. I did not even say that I have had a drink since I found out I was pregnant. I am simply stating that your idea of how "terrible" the ladies on this thread are as mothers for having one or two drinks makes no sense. If you are to state that they are selfish and harming their child for having a drink then you are saying that all of us (which could even include yourself, your family, your friends) who have become pregnant and drank before we knew so are doing the same. You continually refuse to even look at anyone's research they have posted on here, yet we are all still waiting for you to provide us with your peer reviewed research. How dare you make the accusation that any of us are selfish or horrible mothers based on a fear you have no proof of.

First of all, @gradschoolmom1234‌ You are amazing
Second of all @jessblair101‌ I too can provide proof that drinking a few glasses of wine during pregnancy is not harmful to the baby. His name is Leo, he turned 2 on July 25th, speaks in full sentences, uses his manners, knows the alphabet and 1-20, and those are just a few of the things my very smart son knows. Gasp! My wine drinking while pregnant caused too much harm!

    Edit cuz he's 2 not 22

  • I think we have many children born in the states with alcohol related issues because we have an over indulgent society as a whole. Aka we have more drunk hood rats lol. ONE glass of wine is not a 6pack :) I've done enough research to not feel shamed over a glass once a month or so (not to mention a European midwife) and it appears that I am not alone.
