  • Ditto to PP's suggestion.

Some insurance policies will cover home birthing equipment and others won't. You'll just have to contact your insurance company to see.

You may also want to consider local natural birth centers if any are near you. Your insurance may cover them, so it's worth looking into.

  • I would do it at the hospital but they are not open to it and ok thanks for the advice
  • I'm sorry but just out of curiosity at what point in your pregnancy did you decide to do an at home water birth? Just asking because you are already 28 weeks....

  • I havnt decided anything i want to didnt say i was and ive always wanted to do one..
  • I think what @wildflower75 was alluding to is that it may be a little late in the game to get a home water birth set up so close to due date.
If that is what she meant, I agree. The planning side of me had a major panic attack for you. Call your insurance today!!!
Also do you have a doctor/midwife whatever already? Switching now to a very different style birth than what had been originally planned could be difficult or stressful emotionally. But I am an emotional wreck this pregnancy so this could be just me.

  • If you can find a midwife they should be able to do it. I switched from ob to mw at 24 weeks. (My insurance dropped me due to getting married - was planned before I got pregnant) check and see if your insurance covers a mw.

Many hospitals don't allow you to push/deliver in the water, but they do sometimes have large tubs for laboring in. I would see if your hospital at least provides tubs and/or showers for laboring. If a home water birth is not an option for you this time, there may be other suitable options for you. Have you looked into any labor management classes? Have you discussed your birth with your provider?

  • Yes i called my insurance they cover the mw as long as its not at home and it doesnt cover the birthing pool. I have a question is there a lot of rude females on here? There was one on one of my other post and im just curious everyone else seems pretty cool.

I don't understand your question. Was someone rude in this post? It depends on your definition of rude...

  • No not on this post someone elses post when i commented asking a question it seemed like a lady was being rude so i was just wondering if you all have had anybody say something rude to you since you have been a member and if so was it more then one?

You are going to see some snark from now and then, just like in the real world. I wouldn't take it personally, you need to have a thick skin or everyone will upset you at some point.

All the ladies here are pretty blunt - so what may seem rude is more than likely coming from a place of honesty.

I agree. You will get a sense of style and humor from the daily randoms thread. That would help your posts come off a little less strange...

Before she made a separate thread asking this question, she asked it in someone else's thread, then made it a separate post to, I assume, receive more responses.  Someone read the older post and I think didn't realize she posted in that thread like a week ago, and asked her why she was asking the question again.  I think there was a bit of confusion regarding the dates of the posts and the order in which they came.
