  • Speaking of fish tanks, anyone else as bothered by these as I am?
How do these not stink? How do you not accidentally dribble smelly fish poo water all over the stuffed animal fur? Gross.

Read some of these reviews.  I was laughing out loud at my desk.  Teddy Tank is a DEATH TRAP! The people commenting on the inhumane conditions of beta fish make me laugh, simply because you to go the petstore and they're in tiny little jars like this:

Clearly pet stores are also the devil, but still.  I was laughing pretty good.

  • I took B to the big park in town last night. A woman I graduated with was there too with her DH and DS. Her DS is 2 weeks younger than B. I feel so bad each time we've gotten the kids together because B is very advanced compared to her LO. He's had health issues (allergies, tubes in his ears, is going to need special shoes for walking etc.) I know she's comparing them and I almost want B to not do the normal things he does just so she doesn't feel worse. I always use encouraging words with her and point out the great things her LO does. I just feel bad.

Well last night we were at the top of a twirly slide behind her LO and DH. She was at the bottom. LO kind of went down funny and hit is lip somehow. A bit of blood but nothing major. Her DH literally starts putting her down for not catch him. Exact words "Why don't you just catch him in the truck mom. It probably would have been better. I thought you were going to catch him half way down."What a dick. I just stood there amazed he talked to her like that. I could see she looked so defeated. I just didn't know what to do. And how do you catch your kid 1/2 down a twirly slide?

My guess is that the fish mortality rate rises exponentially when the fish lives in a toy...
    ...........without oxygen, it seems.

He's an ass. I let DD go down big twirly slides on her own. If he's so sure of how to do it, maybe he should be in charge at the playground.

  • My friend volunteered to watch the boys for me this afternoon. Her H is getting stuck at work so she has to bring her 1yo, which I am totally fine with but I guess she can't handle all the kids so she is bringing her SIL too? I hate that it's so hard for me to find someone to watch my kids for a few hours. This is why I never even ask people, it always turns into such a huge fiasco.

  • The other night I did the ugly cry after getting Jack's preschool calendar. It's been so evident that he's maturing after our road trip and spending so much time with him in these big-kid situations this week that I was all emotional that this is just the beginning of "firsts" having to do with school-aged things. And I got a little sad that today is Aug 1st. Back to work for me this month. And Will's bday on the 30th. :((

That was us last year with who gave us our book. Our S12er this year isn't around much on here but at least I "know" her from before and IG.

He was crying begging us not to call the police.... "You'll ruin my life, I'm the sole breadwinner." Too stupid to shut up and lawyer up.

A few years ago our competitor hired a $55k dipshit engineer away from us for $85k with the stipulation that he bring our files. We have an arbitrary numbering system on valves and components and our random numbers keep showing up on their bids with our exact designs. They fired the dipwad a month later so there's nobody there to tell them those are not standard part numbers. :D anyway...... I'm sure they had something to do with this. How sad that they can't come up with their own shit.

If you have hardwood floors, did you install a humidifier/dehumidifier in your home? We just got an estimate on flooring (which is outrageous, BTW), and it said we should install these in the basement so the wood always stays at the proper humidity level.
When we had wood floors installed in the bedrooms of our TX house, they never mentioned a humidifier/dehumidifier. The wood just had to sit out a few days before installing. We didn't have a basement.
This except we are in Florida. We've never had any problems.

I bought a cute little cart at ikea today. I wanted the blue, but MIL talked me out of it. I don't like the gray that I got. Oh well.  I just ate a whole thing of rosemary bread. It wasn't huge, but too big to eat by myself. DH's boss is giving us bunk beds and mattresses that they bought three years ago but barely used. Yay for saving money! :)

Eta: I can't fix the formatting. Sorry.

DH just went through something similar. During his recompete proposal, their competitor was trying to steal our people. They were in the building on other projects, but DH's contract is buku bucks. Our people were smart enough to tell DH & not leave (our company pays them well), but it could have been really bad. We don't have to sign non-competes until a certain level and the other company was trying to poach all the junior staff hoping they could beef up their experience section.

Glad you caught him. I hope this was the first time he tried.

If you have me, (Tiffany) I can give you my name. I'm not around much, and understand if someone prefers people they know. Pm me if you want.

Does this apply to brand new homes as well? We will have hard wood floors, but this never crossed my mind that we'd need it.

I've stopped wearing my wedding rings. I don't really know what to do with them. The stones were my grandmothers from her second (failed) marriage so I feel weird selling them. But I don't have any daughters to hand them down to either.
I would just put them away in a safe or jewelry box for now. You have time later to decide if you want to spend the money creating a new piece out of them. And plenty of time to decide if you want to pass them down to one of your boys, or maybe a niece also related to your grandmother.
This.  Not all decisions need to happen right meow.

One of my friends' husbands proposed with his grandmother's ring.  That would be, I think, a normal thing to do.

I currently live in a 140 year old house and previously lived in a 170 year old house.  Both have hardwood floors.  Neither ever had dehumidifers.  The hardwood in both held up fine. I can't imagine why you *need* a dehumidifier on the main floors of your house unless modern hardwood is drastically different or you live in an actual swamp.
