What kinda car do you drive?

Re: What kinda car do you drive?

  • I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel. We'll see how it is with two car seats and my 6'5"tall DH in the front seat. A little nervous for that. DH drives a Ford F250 quad cab.

  • I drive a Mazda2.  I have no plans on getting rid of it.  The idea of having to have a car payment makes me cringe.

If we have more than 2, idk what I'll do.  Hope DD is old enough to fit in a backless booster in the middle seat between probably a convertible and an infant seat, I suppose.  haha.

  • I have a 2013 Buick Encore. It's the smallest available SUV. The trunk is small but it will be fine for one kid. By the time my lease is up the baby will be 2 and if we are planning on another we will get something bigger. I LOVE being up high without being in something huge. I also love having all of the bells and whistles and comforts of a luxury car without a luxury price tag.
  • I drive a Chrysler 300 and DH some model of a BMW (I don't pay attention!).  We're eventually going to have to figure something out bigger though.  It's okay during the week because it will just be 2 children but when we have his other 3 children it becomes such a hassle to take 2 separate cars every where we go.  I have no clue when/what we'll do but I'd like to get an SUV at some point.

  • Nobody wants a minivan, but everyone loves having one once they get over it. lol I have a Honda Odyssey, which we got right before getting pg with #4. Prior to that, I was cramming three kids into a Nissan Sentra, because I didn't want another car payment. But man am I loving how much easier it is to go places now that the kids can't all touch each other!

I would check out the Sienna, if I were you. I too wanted an SUV with a third row, but the minivan won out.

  • We have an Equinox and a GTI. This is our first so both vehicles will be fine but the GTI maxes out at two car seats so that will be the first to go, to DH's dismay.

I also have a GTI and this is my first so ill be ok with keeping it for a while

  • My mom has a sienna and loves it! I drive it every once in a while and love it too. I kinda hope that she wants to get a new vehicle soon so I can buy it from her.

She had three teenagers at home when she bought it. We all were very happy with the rear climate control, real Windows in the second row, and the space.
  • I have a Chevy traverse. Which would be fine except we didn't get the captains chairs. And with 4, it's going to be a hassle to get two into the third row. We will move up to a Tahoe or suburban before #4 comes.

  • I drive a Yukon and LOVE it but have always liked big cars. This baby will make us a family of four. We do max it out pretty well already when we do rd trips due to captains chairs in middle. Next time I will opt for the bench middle seat for an extra seat.

That cracks me up because I'm sure I'll run into that issue soon enough.
I laughed because my older brother and I didn't touch each other in my dad's old Chevy Celebrity, and my mom getting a mini van didn't solve our problems.  It went from "He's on my side of the car" to "Daaaaaaaaaaad he's looking out MY WINDOW!"  And my older brother purposely looking out of "my window" just to piss me off.

  • @TLGBaby2‌ I totally agree with you about the lack of storage space when the third row is in. My next car will be the Yukon XL bc of that.
  • I picked out the Mazda CX-9. It has 7 seats and all three rows are very comfortable. It fits my rear facing Britax marathon seats great for my 3.5 year old (who we still have RF) and my 1.5 year old. I'll flip them both to FF when #2 turns 2 and we'll be able to put the infant carrier in the center between them. If that doesn't work out I will be able to put both Britax seats in the 3rd row. With the 3rd row up I can still fit my Chicco stroller that connects with the infant carrier in the back. I picked out the Mazda because it's not every car you see on the road (and it's awesome).

  • Right now I'm driving a Forester, which I love, but there is zero way three kids will fit. So, DH is giving up his Mustang and taking the Forester. I'm getting the HOnda Odyssey is a few months since we want to have a 4th child.

White Infiniti g35. Love it. But want a tesla model S.

I'm so in love with the Tesla S, someday when I can transition from car seats and dogs or hubby decides to have a car other than a corporate car.

When I had DS, I bought an Audi A6 TDI (diesel) from a smaller 2 door sports car. I tried with the car seat and it was a pain. I cried when I let her go. This pregnancy, I traded that for an Audi Q7. I was weirded out by how big it is, I always had small or sports cars. But not I love it. I stayed with the diesel so it's quick and gets great milage.
    I would LOVE a Q7. Nice =)

  • I have a BMW 325xi, the back seat is not huge and neither is the trunk.  I can't bring myself to get a new vehicle yet.  I just love the car.  I am going to see if it will accommodate baby and if not then I will say goodbye and move up to a larger vehicle.  :-)  Great thread because I learned a lot about different vehicles that may be great options if I have to move up to a larger car.

I'm sure they'll start this sort of thing eventually, but for now, it's pleasant. :) And, this sounds silly, but having the extra space between their mouths and my ears is awesome.

My kids used to travel all cute, DD2 sat in the middle of the Sentra, and she'd hold hands with her sisters. Then as they got older, they got so annoying, with the "She's touching me!" and the baby (RFing) would stick her foot on DD2's headrest and totally piss her off, etc.

  • Chrysler town and country. Got it when DD was 2 months old after a long, cramped 6 hour drive in a Chevy cobalt and never have regretted it!

We just bought a new Toyota RAV4.  I have had a Corolla forever, but once we found out I was pregnant, decided we needed something bigger.  So far I love it!  The baby has not arrived yet, so we shall see- but there definitely seems to be a lot of room in the backseat for a carseat and tons of room in the trunk for stroller, etc.

  • We just bought a brand new Toyota Sienna and absolutely love it. I was driving a honda pilot with just the twins, but now with #3 we need more space. 3rd rows on SUVs are small and hard to get to and leave little room for storage. This van seats 7 VERY comfortably! The sienna is the only minivan with AWD so it made our choice easy but I am SO happy with it! We are driving to disneyland in a few wks as our final family of 4 trip and I'm so excited for all of the space (and the 16" DVD player for the boys- they are 3.5) I'm a proud mini van mom and I never thought I would say that!
  • We just got Honda Odyssey, and love it! We were up in the air between the Odyssey and the Sienna, but ultimately decided to get the Odyssey because it has better safety ratings. Go for the minivan--no regrets! :)
  • I never would consider a minivan... NEVER. Until I had two toddlers with a baby on the way and the idea of them being able to get in and out of the car by themselves was worth it! Also, the split seats keep the kids from touching each other - hence less fighting! I drive the Honda Odyssey and I freaking love it! Never say never :)

  • we have a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. It's 4 doors and roomy and I love it. But I want something bigger especially with 2 kids., 2 adults akd 2 large dogs. we also have an old Mazda 626 that dh will repair before lo comes. I know.our jext vehicle will be a 4 door diesel truck though and not a larger suv. oh well

  • 2004 honda accord and a 2013 Subaru outback. We own them both outright. No plans to go bigger. We figure that there will be enough new expenses without worrying about another car payment.

Not that I don't think about a nice shiny new car occasionally (particularly during the winter) but I should easily be able to get another 10 years out of the honda.
  • I have a Honda Odyssey... love the room and seating versatility. Will need it with 3 kids in car seats!

We ended up with a Acura MDX for my baby car...but my husband is in love with the Honda odyssey...I am still getting myself ready for the the minivan...I know its coming cause my husband has been drooling over them for a while.

  • I drive a jeep liberty, and DH has a 3-series BMW (I'm not sure which one). He's thinking for trading it in to try to get a lower payment, but size-wise, it was ok with one baby and would probably be manageable with two. My jeep is paid off, but unfortunately, it's pretty cramped, and I cringe at the thought of having two rear-facing car seats in there. Since we don't have a car payment on it, though, I'm not sure what we'll do.

  • I drive a honda cr-v that we bought new before baby #1. We plan on keeping it because we are only having 2 kiddos and it has enough room. I love it, so easy to get kids in and out of and plenty of room.

  • We have a 2014 Chevy equinox. The space in the back definitely gets sucked up with a car seat- I think it may be able to fit 2- and MAYBE a booster. The back still has pretty ample space and the backseat slides forward if you need a little extra space for long trips or a huge shopping trip. We are sticking with it til we grow out. I LOVE the traverse which is waaaay roomier but it was out of our price range. Both are fun to drive and I don't think have that "mom look"

  • I've got a Ford Escape. We have out of state family - both sets of grandparents - so we drive a lot of holidays. The escape is a good fit for my daughter and we have a labrador, with 2 LO it should still be fine but I'd like something a little bigger maybe

  • 2013 honda civic. I have an 11 year old and am due in early January. Hoping it can work for us for awhile not ready to switch vehicles

  • I have 2010 ford focus that I loved. Repeat: loved. I am currently cursing that damn car and small back seat. Having a toddler rear facing for another 3ish years and now fitting the infant seat into the car has become my nightmare. I'm currently trying to figure out a new car seat to get my son that allows more space all around (most likely diono radian). I can't wait to be able to afford a new car in a couple years.
  • I have a Dodge Magnum. I was thinking of changing cars before I got pregnant, but when we found out, I decided to keep it. It's got a TON of space, very comfy, very reliable, leather seats make for easy clean up, and ultimately the gas mileage is comparable to a sedan so there's no point for me to upgrade to an SUV. Plus, it's lower to the ground than an SUV so it'll be easier to load.

  • We are a mazda family. I drive a 2014 cx5 and DH drives a 2011 mazda 3. We love them both and they work with one carseat now, hopefully the mazda 3 won't be too cramped with 2 carseats some January.

  • I just bought a brand new ford escape in April. Big mistake because the trunk space is tiny. I was okay with it because I could put down one of the back seats to fit a stroller and groceries, but then I found out I was expecting baby number two. I'm trading it in next week for a new explorer. MUCH bigger.

  • I have a 2011 forester that I love love love. Dh has a 2014 Hyundai sonata which has so much room and a huge trunk. He drove a 2004 jeep liberty before that and there was a lot less ro in the jeep.

I drive a sequoia - we just bought it in January, because we have two kids already (my stepkids), a dog, and I wanted to have a baby. It's awesome, but huge - the backup camera helps a lot with parallel parking, but if I have to go to the city I take a smaller car. That said, SO comfortable in all three rows of seats, we can comfortably fit 7 people (kids and in laws) and our lab in the car. Basically, the sequoia is great for suburbs/mountains/rural areas, but not so much for cities.

For what it's worth, I absolutely love 4runners - sold my '95 4runner to make room for the sequoia and miss the hell out if it.

Thanks, I'm really torn between the sequoia and Sienna. I'm leaning towards the sequoia though.

I love love my 4 runner. I own it ( no payments) and I'm considering keeping it because I'm not sure I can part with it.
I'm going to try to just drive it and see how it holds up with 2 car seats. I've got2 other kids, but if we travel as a family we can take husband's truck, since it holds 6. I can't imagine not driving my 4 runner. Luckily I don't have to make the decision, yet.
We are a Toyota family, so we'd like to stick with a Toyota.

I just saw one leaving work today after reading this! With a Cat-in-the-Hat plate no less :)

  • I drive a 13 Durango. I am hoping this will last for quite a while. I am a FTM but my 10 month old nieces car seat fits nicely with out having to push the passenger seat up any... Plus, plenty of storage. My brother and his wife just bought a odessey... And they actuallyLOVE it.. *mini vans just make me cringe** good luck on choosing a new vehicle :)
