What do you ladies recommend?
DS was gaining steadily. I went back to work when he was 11 weeks, he would take his bottles and everything was great. I'm a teacher so I've been off for the summer and since then, he has dipped on the scale. Even with introducing solids and not changing the amount of times he nurses per day.
He's 8 months old and has been 15 lbs since 6 months. At just over 7 months he was 15 lbs 11 oz and now he's back down to 15 lbs 4 oz.
He nurses about 7 times a day for about 5 minutes. He seems happy, he still has about 6 wet diapers a day. We eat avocados, bananas, rice cereal and puréed veggies daily. I don't know what else to do.
Any thoughts?
Re: 8 month old: not gaining
I took DS in then because he had a bit of a cold. She didn't measure anything else at that point. She just said to try introducing more solids. We were only doing solids in the PM at that point. So we upped the solids to 2 to 3 times a day and I noticed he still wasn't gaining this morning (on our inaccurate home scale).
I am going to go in today to weigh him there and see what she has to say. Maybe she'll measure everything else.
He is more active. He's crawling all over the place so maybe it's related. It just seemed to correlate with me being home and he may be taking in way less ounces.
We weighed DS at the doctor and he actually gained 3 oz from his last appointment. The doctor wasn't concerned since he also has started crawling all the time and he's been in ISR swim lessons that we practice daily. Oh and it seems like he's been teething his top two teeth for about a month now.
We even did a weighted feeding at the appointment and it had been 2 hours since his last feeding and he took in 2.5 oz.
We already have our 9 month old follow up appointment in 3 weeks and at that time we will measure his head and length. I'm feeling much better now.
