Loft bed or bunk bed? (Long)

We currently have DS1's bunk bed separated into two twin beds and DS1 and DS2 each use them in separate rooms. We have been thinking about giving the bunk beds (as separate beds) to DS2 and DS3 when we move DS3 out of his crib since they share a room (so the beds would be matching). Then we would buy either a bunk bed or loft bed for DS1. We have visitors often who stay over since we don't live near family and they currently stay in either DS1's room or in our master bedroom and then we sleep in DS1's room or downstairs. We would be getting either a twin over full or a loft and put a futon underneath. Which would you think would be better? It'd likely be closer to Christmas so DS1 would be 8.

He doesn't seem to care other than that they still have his bedding. We showed him a few online to make sure that he would be okay with the switch (he has Aspergers) and he seemed excited about being able to sleep up high.

I would probably go with a loft over a futon, I think that gives you the most flexibility!

DD1 was sick of her bunkbeds only a few months after she got them. She's on top and doesn't really like it anymore. Having a futon on bottom gives him the option to have seating to read, play video games etc but a full on bottom gives him the option to easily switch beds if he decides sleeping up high isn't really that fun.

Loft bed has a huge charm, but bunk beds are also not bad. It depends on the size of your house and organization of space. and most importantly - on the opinion of your child

I'd be just asked him what she/he prefers
