June 2014 Moms

SAHM 7/25

I made it, barely. Today we watched movies literally all day except for a car ride because I needed them to sleep at the same time so I could have some quiet. It was a big week for painting and play doh here, and c loves to lie on the activity mat with charlie. Super cute even when I'm worried she'll squish him. Tuesday I got to pull a screaming toddler out of a puppet show and Thursday we spent an hour walking around target.

How'd it go for you?

  • I miss the days of being able to put the baby in the car and go for a drive. our week was ok. lots of trips to the mall, a trip to monkey joes which was great for DS but holy exhausting for me, and several restaurant meltdowns for DS a few of which resulted in him going to bed with no dinner (not forced by me but the kid refused to eat anything). tomorrow we are having some pictures made so here's hoping both of them cooperate.

I need human interaction that is not in the form of my mom. I love her but I need some friends.
  • @MegEL85‌ wow - I try to not make plans before 10 (at the earliest)

So many car rides, the bouncy seat, and swing. My child is addicted to motion but it allows me to sleep and get shit done! I'll deal with the reprecossions of this later. I will also take all advice on how to wean my DD off of motion devices and stock pile them when I'm over the motion addiction

This is us exactly. DD LOVES all the swings! ! I have her sleep at night finally in her crib but only 4 hours or so. The rest of the morning I'm so exhausted and don't want to fight her about it so in she goes to the mamaroo next to my bed!

@skamber‌ ds1 was a motion addict. I am a pretty baby led parent so I just went with it but random at 10 months I decided I was going to pack up the swing so that it wasn't an issue anymore, we're all still alive ;) but still at 2 he easily falls asleep in the car or stroller!
  • Lots of meltdowns this week. H has to do everything for S once he's home while I take care of the baby because she wants nothing to do with me. We did get a toddler free night and afternoon which was nice. Still dealing with the loneliness that comes from being a SAHM and living where I do.

I got to leave the baby with husband before he went to work and got my hair cut, picked up some more onsies for LO and a prescription for me... It was actually the first time I wished I had more to do so I didn't have to come back to the house..

LO is up now basically all day from 9am to 9pm sleeping 3-5min naps through out the day... Then of course still wakes up 3-4 times during the night. Bad part is she is so cranky during the day she is no fun to be around and so hard to keep entertained or at peace for longer then 5-10min at a time.

I have such an unhappy baby.

Yeah, she screams in the carrier =\
  • @skamber‌ I know! you have to keep me away from the pretzels lol
  • @SaraJoy00‌ what kind of carrier do you have? C was very picky at this age, so it may be the kind of carrier, or if its a Moby the kind of wrap you're using.

  • Ugh, mostly a bad week for us. My oldest (only 2, mind you) only napped once. I'd get her brother to sleep, and as I'd try to put him in his swing, she would jump on my back or hang off the side of the swing or scream as loud as she could, etc. - waking him up in the process. Then I'd try to put him back to sleep while she stood by my side, crying because I wasn't holding her and getting more hysterical the sleepier she got and of course all that noise meant the baby did NOT go back to sleep, so then more crying from her, etc etc etc...

How are you guys doing naps? Do you make sure your LO is asleep before you try to tackle the older one? Is your oldest in a separate room while you put your LO to sleep (watching tv, I presume)? Before we had our second, my daughter would happily play by herself or watch tv downstairs while I did laundry upstairs, but now she wants to be by my side every moment, and I'm finding nap time impossible.
  • @Katieluc106‌ me too!

I also now understand why people get the "mom" haircut. I'm not planning on it myself but it seems so damn convenient

  • @ugabamafans‌ bring yourself!!

I would totally get a mom cut if my face was the right shape for it. if my hair goes any shorter than my collarbone I look like the kid on the Dutch boy paint cans. it's not attractive.
  • I'm moving to GA ;)

@aravis121‌ I take DD1 to lay down in her bed and I bring the baby. Usually she nurses while the toddler rolls around in bed until she falls asleep. Naps have been rough for us too but this has been working well.
  • I only wish I was moving! I hate where I'm living now. I'm always telling H to look for jobs somewhere else. CA is just too damn expensive.
  • I've been working on @ohyealovely‌ to get her to come here! seriously get your butt over here!!

Seattle is too damn expensive too! I want to move to the south east where you can buy a brand new house for like $200k. Although my family is in the centeral coast of CA and I love it there

  • IM READY FOR SCHOOL TO START!

You'd think the baby or the 5 yo would be the issue, right? Nope.  The 9 yo is driving me to drink! Everything is an emotional melt down.  I can't even have a normal convo with the kid and not have all the emotions coming at me.  Yes, he is seeing a therapist.  Poor kid has so many issues because of my horrible sister (his mom).

All these other places in CA sound so nice! LoL I live in Northen CA Valley and it sucks! So hot and now we have that El Dorado fire smoke. Fun times.
  • Are any of you ladies doing anything to make a little money while at home?  We could really use just a little extra income to get by, and my go to job (substitute teaching) I can't do anymore with the baby.  I'm looking for some ideas  :-/
