Breastmilk from Fridge to Room Temp?

I always store my breastmilk in the refrigerator in bottles and then warm up by running under warm water when it is time for LO to eat.  Today we are going out to a function.  Is it okay to have the breastmilk at room temperature after it has been in the refrigerator?  Since LO is used to drinking the milk warm, I figured I could just have it at room temperature until she is ready to eat.  I know breastmilk is good at room temperature for 5 hours but didn't know if putting it in the fridge first changed that time frame at all.  Thanks!

Re: Breastmilk from Fridge to Room Temp?

  • BM should be fine for at least 3-4 hours at room temperature. it shouldn't matter if it's been refrigerated already and then coming up to room temp- in fact, it's probably good for longer at room temp since it will already be cold.

if you're still worried, give it a sniff first- if it smells sour, don't offer it.
