I wasn't supposed to be up until 2:30. It's 12:30.. Really kiddo?
This!!! I just thought she was going to be like every other night and give me 3 hours for the first night feeding ( subsequent feedings don't always follow suit). But nope! Not tonight when I'm starting to feel feverish and probably need the sleep even more . Oh well, such is the life of a newborn mommy right?
Anyone having issues keeping LO from rolling to their sides while swaddled? Every time I lay her down at night she likes to roll onto her side alittle bit. It causes the DH huge anxiety but I don't know how to keep her from doing it! I have to swaddle her or she wakes herself up. She is already defiant at 1 week old
@babybell22 What we have always done, and please note this may not be for all families, but it worked for 6 months with us last year. We roll baby blankets on each side of the baby just under the armpit area while swaddled. DD never once rolled over last year. Tonight is our first night home with DS and we are doing it again.
I got a little over an hour of sleep, should have been almost 2 but she wanted to eat early, when DH woke me up because she was hungry (he has her up while he was watching TV). That was an hour and 15 minutes ago. She peed on me (no idea why Pampers size 1's hate me more than Huggies size 1's), and has been nursing for almost an hour which is by far her longest nursing session ever, half of which was her nursing/crying frantically for who knows what reason. So much for going to bed earlier to get some extra sleep so I don't end up laying in bed all morning in between feedings .
Ok LO has not taken a good nap since 4. It's 8:30 and we had bath time and tummy time and she's eaten so she shouuuuuld sleep good tonight, she's still fighting it as I've been hding her the last 20 minutes and she gets droopy eyes then wakes herself back up , girls I'm praying for a good night!
Hoping to not see you at the 1-2am feeding!! Good luck!
Its 3:00 and I'm doing the first feeding!! OMG!!!!
Omg, I could cry! I slept from 9-11 then did out first feeding then we slept from about 12-4! I've slept 6 hours tonight! She is usually up 2-3 hours at some point during the night so that might mean we are up until morning, but I don't care, I feel amazing!
Side note: she used to take a paci right after she was born. Then our LC told us to stop giving it so we did. Now that we have a good thing going with BF we want to try it again, but she keeps gagging on them. We've tried the Soothie from the hospital and a Tommee Tippee brand for NB. Anyone else with this problem?
Holy shit DD slept from 10-4. I woke up in a panic thinking something terrible happened, she was still sound asleep. Now she's awake and won't settle but that's ok...6 mother f'n hours y'all.

Yes, DD will only use a Nuk. I think they are a little smaller and their shape makes it easier for her to hold in her mouth.
I love that you mamas are getting some sleep. I slept two hours and am currently on the 2nd feed of the night. She is very sleepy so hopefully that means she will sleep longer on the next stretch.
@JuniperGaze we bad the same gagging issues with dd and she took a nuk first and she got used to that, now she takes a soothie.
Why does my baby hate sleeping after 4am?! First feed around 12am she always goes back down pretty easy. Second feed around 4am she never does. Fusses non-stop until I give up and get up for the day.

My LO is a side sleeper too. I just let her cause she seems to sleep better. Plus, she's been spitting up some at night and I'm less paranoid about her choking/gagging on spit up when she's tilted a bit.

Same for us every night, she fake sleeps and as soon as I try to lay her down she's wide awake again! Oh 4am!
Eta: 5am and she has drained me, and now I'm starving!!

We use the MAM. It's almost like with the soothie that it's not big enough for him to suck and latch onto. Also if you just stick it in his mouth he gags and spits it out but if you tease his lips a little a let him suck it in he will take it much better that way.
So LO spent the first night in his crib instead if sleeping in our room(on my chest). Nursed at 9pm, I was asleep by 9:30, nursed again at 12:30, I was asleep by 1:30, nursed at 4:30, and I was asleep on the couch by 5 (DH alarm clock starts going off at 6:15am and I didn't want it to wake me). Normally LO has a fussy time of morning after that 4 am feeding and it takes him till about 6 to go back to sleep. Well yay for us this is the first night that hasn't happened BUT DS1 decides to wake up just before 6am he then proceeds to play the "pee pee in the potty card" twice. Finally I have gotten him to lay back down but at this point in up!! GRrrrrrr at DS1!! It's been such a successful night untill now! Oh well, over all I am pleased!
I stayed awake thinking/knowing LO would wake up at 11 after I put him down at 9. Excited and mad at myself he might decide to sleep a super long time tonight. Now I can't go to sleep of course cuz he WILL wake up if I do.
I can already tell it's gonna be a LONG night. (:|
This. We were super busy today and he threw up the bottle around 6:30 and didn't take another bottle until 9:30. Now it's midnight and he hasn't eaten since 9:30.
@JuniperGaze - we are having Paci troubles too. I have a soothe from the hospital, the nuk, the mam and now I found a dr browns one. The dr browns ones look different and those are the ones that seem to be working best now for us. The paci battle is tough, I either want LO to take it or reject it but be done with this must-have-it-or-I'll-die one day and uninterested the next.
I'm up for our first feeding, I guess. I've nursed her every 1-1.5 hours today from noon till 10pm. I've been sleeping since 11 I think. I had a dream that I nursed her in bed, something I never do so I woke in a panic thinking she was my body pillow and I was on top of her - horrible way to wake up!
The paci battle continues, MAM is out. No matter how gentle we guide it into her mouth she gets a disgusted look on her face and gags. If a Nuk doesn't work, I guess we'll try again in a few weeks.
I went into the kitchen to find my cat eating the rubber top of a bottle nipple. I'm going to kill him. The whole top to the nipple is gone so I'm assuming he swallowed it. He's already had a 3000 dollar surgery to remove a rubber end of a door stopper from blocking his intestines. I can't afford another surgery. Here's to hoping he pukes or shits it out! UGH!! This is the last thing I want to deal with at 3am.
My dog eats her pacis then shits them out, I hope your cat passes it. He should.
Yesterday My LO went into demon mode due to be extremely tired and not getting a good nap in during the day due to visitors. Her longest nap from 1:30 in the afternoon till 9:00 at night was maybe 40 minutes. She was screaming just from being tired. She slept from 10-3 Whig is amazing but damn I am exhausted. We are going to bed bath and beyond in the morning and then relaxing allllll day tomorrow
Well hello hungry baby! Why is your nightgown all damp?! Let me see....picking up your gown, feeling in the dark. Oh that's creamy feeling, turn the light on. Should have done that before I touched. Now I have chocolate pudding fingers to match your gown and back oh and don't forget the boppy cover too! Yippee!!!

4 am wake ups are the kiss of death. Your kid has been asleep just long enough that they don't go back down easily, but not long enough for anyone to feel well rested. It's true for older kids too.

So wed night we had the night from hell. DD was awake for 12:30 to 6:30 with gas issues. Then she was cranky all day yesterday and barely napped. I put her down at 10:00 last night and just had to wake her up at. 6:00 to eat. I feel awful she's gone this long without eating but was so exhausted myself I didn't wake up until DH's alarm went off.
Now I had to wake up an obviously exhausted baby and my noobs leaked all over my bra, shirt and the bed. But, we got some sleep last night!!
I think I went through a colicky spell with LO last night from about 9p-1am. Fussy, sort of crying, nothing but my boob was making him quiet, not the paci, not DH, just the milk receptacles. Then all of the sudden around 1am he was out cold and slept till about 5:45am. Then when I woke I found DS1 asleep on the floor in my room. So even though LO is asleep in his crib DS1 is wide awake and ready to go for he day! I should just totally be a vampire so I wouldn't need to sleep! Anyone have any experience with colic? This is new territory for me.

He also is refusing to latch, so I have to give him a bottle, then get him back to sleep and then pump. Everything takes 3x longer than it should.
