Babymoon anyone?

My family (mom, dad, siblings) just left today for a family cruise/vacation. I decided not to go with the hope that me and the hubs would take a babymoon, but I'm not sure if we actually will. Did I make the right choice? Is anyone else taking a babymoon? Where?

Re: Babymoon anyone?

  • My husband told me a few weeks ago that when he gets home from his deployment we are going to Disney. So I guess that would be our babymoon?

DH and I just got back from a week in San Diego. We are from the northeast so it was a nice change and a fun trip. Plus we got to visit with his best man from our wedding, which was great!

Not sure if you made the right choice or not. I guess it depends on why you might not go. Time constraints? Financial ones? Just not sure where to go? Some of these are easier to overcome, others might mean a shorter trip or a staycation.

  • I'm thinking we'll try to sneak in a weekend away. Somewhere new to us but an easy drive. We leave in Ca, so probably a b&b either up or down the coast from us.

  • We went to Florida when I was 15 weeks. I lounged on the beach and slept most part of the vacation but some R&R is definitely needed before baby arrives :)
  • We're taking a 5 day trip to providence, RI for our 5th anniversary in August. I can't wait! We've never been to the New England states/area and plan to explore and relax.
  • I won't be going on a babymoon, DH and I are newer homeowners (11 months) and are trying to get rooms that need renoing done for when baby gets here. I've been painting up a storm, and fixing broken cupboards/doors. Only a couple more things on my list for upstairs before we get moving furniture.

To me... this IS my babymoon.  ;;)

  • We are taking a 4 day to Spain (we live in Germany)! My only requirement is a big pool so I can enjoy floating without the weight of the bump for a few days! I'm really excited!

*sigh* no we cannot. Funds will not allow us because we have to remodel our basement to make room for baby. We are going to the Dominican next December to get hitched so we have to wait until then.

Where are you getting married? I studied there for 4 months and loved it, so it excites me any time I see others going!

DH and I took a vacation to California a few weeks ago. It was planned before BFP but we are considering that our baby moon. We are also hoping to do a weekend close to home closer to when the baby comes.
  • *sad face* No, we cant afford it. Was going to spend a weekend in the Ozarks but had to cancel. No getting away for us anytime soon. :( My folks want us to come out to Oklahoma in the spring but cant seem to understand we wont be able to afford that either. Having a baby and buying a new house is expensive!!

@drmh22 Punta Cana, I haven't locked the resort down yet. I have a few in mind. My dad lives down there so he's been looking around but are there any you recommend?

I've heard awesome things about the Iberostar. I actually never made it over to Punta Cana...a little too touristy for my tastes. I stayed in Santiago and mostly went to the beaches on the northern side of the country. DH and I had planned to get married in Puerta Plata. (north side) but we weren't sure if he would be able to travel, so we kept it close to home. If your having a lot of people come down, Punta Cana is comfortable for everyone because it has all the amenities that Americans generally expect. My parents went and loved it, although they never left the resort.
  • Leaving for Treasure Island, Florida tomorrow for 7 days with SO and the whole family.
I am already feeling so uncomfortable now that I figure I might as well have my fun before I REALLY hate moving around.
I think you should do a baby moon! Even if just a short/simple do it!
  • We just got back from a kid-free trip to CO this past week. It was amazing!
AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers
  • We will take a mini trip in Oct for our anniversary. That will be it before the little one comes :)
  • Headed to Barcelona & the South of France at 26 weeks - can't wait!!! You should definitely try to sneak something in!

Yes! My hubby and booked four nights at an inexpensive hotel/resort/casino driving distance for our home. Neither of us are huge gamblers but thought of getting away (from family, work, home, etc.)--even for a few days I think will help us recharge....this getaway will help us have five straight days of "date night" and I think it will be a lot of fun!
  • We're going to Chicago for a week in about a month, but we'll be taking DD with us. We went to California for a week at the beginning of June too. So, we likely won't take another legit trip and will instead do a babymoon weekend staycation. We did the same thing before DD because we had just gone on our honeymoon the month before we got pregnant.

  • I would like to at least get away for a long weekend in the mountains, but not sure since we just bought a new house.  Funds might be low for a bit.

  • We are taking a 3 day trip in October to Asheville, NC.  DS will be coming with us, so it won't be a no kids/romantic trip. We really wanted to include DS since it will be the last overnight trip we'll take for awhile and he's at an age where he'll really enjoy it.  Plus, it will be nice to have some quality time with him before his baby sister arrives!

not sure - have a 4 day weekend coming up in september that might be perfect. we are trying to save (who isn't?! haha), but i think we can do something relatively local on the cheap - tough to travel cheap when you don't have a car and always have to rent one blerghhh. we're in nyc and are considering the adirondacks or vermont.
  • Hoping to take a babymoon in Florida or the Dominican Republic in Sept or early Oct. but it's TBD still. We recently bought a home and a car, so our cashflow is a little tighter than usual, and we won't break into the emergency fund for a vacation!
  • We went to Vegas when I was like... 9 weeks... So no big vacation planned, but I think for an early Christmas gift I will plan us a night or two in a wintery cabin setting with a fireplace and take a little mini-babymoon.

Iberostar was gorgeous, as was the Larimar. I've also head good things about Dreams. We honeymooned at the Hard Rock, which was nice, but I didn't love the food and found it to be too expensive for what it offered. I got my scuba certification while down there, so I got to check out a bunch of other resorts while I did the training :)

  • I'd really like to take a long weekend to relax--since I don't get paid maternity leave, I'm trying to save my vacation time/sick days. We are planning to visit DH's sister in VT in early September, so maybe we can combine the two, although if I can think of a good local getaway I may insist on that as I grow larger.
