I complained a few weeks ago about having to wait 8-12 weeks for a crib to be delivered from a furniture store. In the long run, it's not a big deal. But, DH is a teacher and goes back to school soon. I won't have him home to do projects, build stuff, etc. I wanted the furniture in before that, so that I would have time to decorate as I wish. Yes, yes, I'm insane. It's really the only room I'm "allowed" to buy new stuff for, since we're planning on moving in the next 1-2 years. So, I'm going crazy!
Anyway, I couldn't be bothered to wait that long, so I did my window shopping at the best furniture stores - really everything from BRU, BBB, Crib & Teen City, private small shops and PBK. I decided I loved the PBK line, but wasn't going to spend the money for something a child will chew on. I settled on Munire brand in a convertible crib. I went home and did my online research and found out that Wayfair sells one of the Munire designs that I loved. I ordered a crib and dresser on 7/14. I got a shipping notification on 7/22, an and a call from the delivery guy on 7/25. Friday night, we put everything together, and it was wonderful! I paid a great deal less than I would have at a furniture store, and shipping was free.
Cons: They deliver to the first private area of the house - in my case, in front of the garage. They do not put it together for you. The boxes were heavy (or so I was told). The dresser was fully assembled - so it couldn't be taken up in pieces. The crib was in several pieces in one box.
All in all, if you are looking for a less expensive version of the brands/designs you love, I think Wayfair is worth a try. I had never ordered from them before, but I'd certainly consider them for additional purchases. Especially since I'm too impatient to wait months.
