Pregnant after a Loss

How do y'all keep calm early on

Since previous losses I can't seem to keep myself calm...I found out at three weeks and won't get to see the ob for a week...because it's so early I obviously have no movement to go off of and this is around the time I lost my last...I've had some very light spotting on tp only but it only added to my high stress level...I'm driving myself insane and I know the stress is not a good thing either...any advice on how to keep calm until far enough along to feel movement???

Re: How do y'all keep calm early on

  • I'm worried too. It's only natural. I just try to keep myself busy.

Repeat the mantras as needed; today you are pregnant and you love your baby. ((hugs)) Not sure any of us really got through that period gracefully, but one day at a time, you will get through it. Staying busy definitely helps.

    ETA: Congratulations!

  • Thanks...y'all have been the nicest group I've ran into so far...even with two kids I still can't seem to stay busy enough...trying to focus on them right now but still have many moments a day...can't talk to DH about it either as it seems he's trying to avoid the fact that were pg again...he's nervous too...but agreed to goto the first appointment finally :)
  • Oh, man. I was and still am a nervous wreck. You do it one day at a time. Vent when you need to. Do things that make you feel good. GL!

  • It's totally normal to be worried after going through a loss. I am soooo worried but I'm just trying to keep myself busy until I'm further along and start to feel more secure about this pregnancy. Just do whatever you can to stay calm and happy!

  • Big ((hugs)) Congrats on your BFP! @haleyusf said it very well, most of us don't go through it gracefully!  The early days are really the worst.  If you find a mantra that really resonates with you it really can be so helpful.  For me I would just say it over and over in my head when I started to feel panicky.  Hang in there!

  • Congrats! I've also been a nervous wreck since I got my BFP two wks ago, but lurking on this board and reading the mantras give me lots of hope. My DH also seems to be trying to protect himself just in case we have another loss, so I understand where you are coming from. One day at a time, right? H&H 9 months to you!

  • I've been waiting for a week and a half to find out if my baby is alive. The only thing that allows me to sleep at night is distraction. In my case, books help the most.

  • I'm not calm, I only pretend to be.
  • Busy as I can be. Positive thinking. And walks to relieve stress. Wishing you the best !
