I take Vitamin Code. Plus, Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA. I know one a days are popular but your body has a harder time absorbing the vitamins that way. The Vitamin Code (and other higher quality brands) are broken into several pills.
i take the vitafusion prenatal vitamins. my ob says its fine as long as my iron levels dont drop since the gummies dont have iron.

I was taking the vitafusion gummy prenatals, but just like PP mentioned about iron. My doctor wrote me an RX for a prenatal called vitaPearl. I have really low iron and the gummies weren't cutting it.
@MommyOfAMiracle that sucks you couldnt keep taking them. couldnt they have just had you take an otc iron pill in addition to the gummy?

@psychobutthead I'm glad you said something. I take the same brand and had no idea that they were iron free. I may call the OB office and ask about OTC iron pills.
My first pregnancy I was prescribed prenatals so now I'm at a loss. Is there someplace that states how much of each vitamin is in a good prenatal? I'm not exactly sure what to look for.
yeah any gummy multi vitamin doesnt have iron. just incase kids get into them and eat them since you can get really sick from too much iron. but i take them for the same reason @mh269650 pills make me want to puke.

I take rainbow light prenatal one because its vegan. I can't have the DHA because of my Omega-3 allergy. Although, they're kinda like horse pills and taste god awful. I'm seriously considering looking in to vegan prenatal gummies instead. Apparently those are supposed to be more palatable.

I have a REALLLLLLY hard time taking pills of any sort. So she sent me home with some chewable samples of the vitaPearl. They were decent, tasted like vanilla. So I called and had an RX filled. Welp, go figure. They sent me the same thing, but in PILL FORM! lol
I wasn't about to go back and complain, so I put my big girl pants on and now take them in the morning with a big glass of milk.

If you read the book "what to expect when you're expecting" it lists each vitamin individually for you. OAD seems to be the closest match I've found, but I haven't checked Nature.
I can't swallow pills very well in general, NPR. Right now I'm taking the gummies because I've spent way too much money trial-and-erroring different ones, but they are all HUGE (for me). Anyone know of any that are about the size of Tylenol? I only want to get away from the gummies because the smell/taste of them makes me want to yack.
I was taking rainbow light prenatal one-a-day pills, but recently I cannot deal with the taste/smell or the feeling after I take them. I was also taking a natural DHA supplement and got them both at my coop. I just switched today to the rainbow light prenatal gummies - LIFE SAVER! They don't have any iron, so I'm contemplating taking a supplement. However, I also plan to take these only until I stop having such a strong reaction to regular pills.

I'm taking the vitafusion gummy prenatal also. My iron level is really good right now but my Dr prescribed another crewable prenatal with iron to start taking in 2nd tri. Only down fall to the new prenatal it looks like chalk! Lets hope it dont taste like it looks. Although I'm not sure what chalk tastes like.

I have found the Spring Valley brand prenatal easy to swallow. It's a coated pill...about the length of the longer Tylenol pills but a little bit wider. Here's a comparison pic...
I just look for one that's food-based rather than synthetic. And one that has folate rather than folic acid. There's an extremely common genetic defect that most people don't know they have (MTHFR) that prevents you from utilizing synthetic folic acid, so you might be getting much less than you think. Folate is much better utilized as it's the naturally occurring form, not the synthetic form.

I wanted to say this too but I didn't want to sound like a know it all. Not that you do!
Folate is where it's at. So many people have MTHFR. I've read up to 50% of the population has at least one copy. I have 2 copies of the most dangerous kind and didn't know for quite awhile.
Also, if you read up on synthetic folic acid even in people with no mutation, it's a bit alarming. Folate is the most natural and best form
I take the vitafusion gummies. The target store brand version is good, if they're on sale. My doctor also gave me a bunch of samples the I will probably use once my bottle is out since I'm cheap. I too have found taking them at night makes the difference in my ability to tolerate them.
