I Know You Already Know ThisBut Make Sure You Stay Hydrated To Help With Your Veins. It's A Pain Already Having To Pee All Day Without Making It Worse. Praying That You Feel Better Soon.
Staying hydrated is not within your control when you have HG. That kind of blame is upsetting.
I'm so sorry your not doing well. The fluids will help a lot. For me the meds all worked better when i was hydrated. I had lots of trips to the hospital when the home nurses couldn't get a vein. I ended up kicking one out, on a particularly frustrating day. I know your pain.
I wanted to pass along alittle info that may be helpful. For the migraines, my doctor gave me Fioricet, for the bad days, they were able to give me a nasal spray of Stadol. It's a narcotic that is often used during labor. It's super duper strong, so I only used it a few times. It was good to have an option in the house when I wasn't keeping water in and pills seemed to upset the very delicate balance.
Keeping you in my thoughts. Take it easy and try not to get too stressed. It sounds like you have a great proactive doctor. It's so hard but you will get through it, I promise!
5 IUIs and an IVF
It's all worth it for Baby Boy, born 9/30/13!
What do you know, Baby Girl just popped up! Due 1/2/15
I'm feeling much better. My pain is well controlled, and thanks to the IV zofran and phenergan, I've been able to eat every meal plus snacks without issue!

I hope this continues for you! So happy for a good update.
Yay! I am so glad you are feeling better :-). (((Hugs))) and I sure hope this fixes it. I kept reading and feeling terrible for you, and was just so glad I wasn't the nurse poking you with no luck.... are the headaches gone? Be careful of constipation. I just heard from my mom nurse friends that Zofran is really constipating. Umm, been giving it out for 12 years, seriously never knew that! And I know I'd rather take my chances with constipation than dehydration anyday... but I hope you get a laxative or softener to go with it. So glad you are doing better! (((Happy hugs))) :-)
@Bigboneded my headache isn't gone but it's being controlled with pain meds. The zofran is terribly constipating, but I've been in it since 7 weeks so I'm used to it.
You've been quiet! I'm going to take it that all is going better and you're getting some rest??
I'm home now, yay! My PICC line became totally clogged (both lumens) yesterday, but after pushing some TPA (TPN? Can't remember) they got them up and running. Apparently the end of my internal catheter was sticking to the wall of my artery.
I have a new home health team coming out to help care for my PICC line and do dressing changes. The first dressing took the top layer of my skin off in a couple spots (ouch!), so we've switched dressings and they will change them more often, as well as using Skin Prep.
I'll be administering my own Zofran and doing my flushes, plus test my own ketones and hang a bag of fluids if necessary. It sounds hard to the average lay person, but it's very easy. I'm just SO grateful to have this PICC line.
I also got a small dorm fridge for my room, so I can store all my meds in it (plus snacks!) and have my own little med supply station set up. Thanks for checking!
Are they also considering TPN at some point? You absolutely need a PICC for that.
I really hope this is the turning point for you!!!
Why in the world would you start TPN on a pregnant person? The risks absolutely do not outweigh any benefits. Not to mention, TPN is a $1000 a day alone, plus lab costs and monitoring. A PICC line, with fluids and additives is just fine. Once the zofran is figured out, she can eat real food. TPN takes 5-7 days to produce any benefits, and by that time, the zofran will have definitively kicked in. She's pregnant, not in a coma.
What I would address is bowel concerns though since I know you were already struggling with the worlds worst constipation like I was from zofran.
I have taken care of a handful of HG that go home on TPN via PICC.
I've heard of it too. I can't imagine how bad it has to be to need TPN. I thank God I'm not that bad.
Yeah, they pushed TPA (was it called Alteplase?) through it I assume, because it breaks up clots. I'm glad that you're feeling better and you're home out of the germy hospital! And that's awesome that you're able to participate in your care and do things/help yourself when you need to. So happy it's all working out for you!!
Please be so so so careful with your PICC line! I've heard of horror stories from women who weren't careful enough with sanitizing their line. Glad you are feeling better!

Oh, I'm super careful. Sepsis is no joke. I was also happy with my new home health company, because they brought me heplocks to do after my usual saline flushes. Hopefully my lines won't get occluded again.
