Anyone have anything this week?
I'll start with an upbeat one: my MIL comes to town on Thursday and I can't wait! I love her and I love how wholly she loves us and I can't wait to see her interact with DS now that he has so much more personality!

I felt bad this weekend. SIL's daughter is a year older than DD. When it was time to move to the next size up car seat DH and I had mentioned how much of a PIA it was moving the car seats from car to car and how we were going to get a second this time. Mil said not to because she has an extra from niece that no one is using. It had been bought as a third seat and had barely been used. Fast forward a couple weeks and I email her asking her to bring it when they come visit this weekend. She writes back how sorry she is but somehow it had been given away. I told her ok NBD at all. When she got to town she stopped by with a check so I could go buy a new carseat. She felt horrible that the one she had offered was given away. Then I felt bad because she felt bad. Totally not my intention, I am more than capable of buying a car seat. But she wouldn't take no for an answer and now Dd has a seat in both cars.

My MIL lives 5 miles away and hasn't seen DS in over 2 months. WTF. He is not going to know her and it'll be her own fault. She doesn't ask to see him. He's not allowed at her house because she smokes inside. She asks for pictures.... I don't get it. My parents are constantly inviting us over or coming over to visit him. They can't get enough.
I just don't understand it and it royally pisses me off because DH is so disappointed and hurt. Blah.
My mom, step dad and in laws are great. My dad is absent with his granddaughter just as he was with me
My ILS are quirky but at least they can get their shit together enough to come all the way from Florida to visit.
My dad lives a single days drive away, has visited once and has never even held LO. Absent in his life just he was in mine. Solidarity @WhenInRome11
My FIL visits us from TX every opportunity he can get. My MIL has only visited once since DS was born. In November. FIL is coming this Thursday for the long weekend. Despite MIL being "semi-retired," she can't get off work and "doesn't like to travel anyway."
Thanks. I'll remember the effort being put forth when the pendulum swings the other way.
Can't wait to see my FIL on Thursday though!
Also, we have lived in Texas for almost 4 years. This was not only the only time she visited since DS was born, but it is also the first time she has visited us at all...ever.
@Pinkdahlia44 - Ugh! I'm sorry you experience something similar.
Oh, and when she was here two weekends ago, she was just telling us how great and sweet and gentle he is (just like she tells us all the others are) and then she says "and then we decided to take our relationship to the next level, I don't think I have to tell you what that means". To H and I, while eating dinner. GAG.
She has never met LO in person. I know she lives far away, but she had the money to fly DH's younger sister out last summer while I was cranky and pregnant and didn't want an extra child for 3 weeks. I'm not sure why she didn't save that money to come when he was born.
Oh, and we were over visiting her house (we were staying at SIL's house) and she showed me a bicycle horn (the kind with a rubber bulb that you squeeze) she had gotten for SIL's 11 month old, and then squeaked it SUPER loud right in Cam's face. Scared the crap out of him, it was crazy loud like an air horn almost. Then she laughed at him being scared. #youareaweirdolady
She was trying to get my LO to eat with her plate sitting on top of her long bib (so she wouldn't make a mess) The plate n food ended up on the floor as I told her it would! We usually don't use bibs, because she always tries to eat it and it just gets in the way. If it's something messy like pasta, we just leave her in her diaper.
She was making LO and another baby sit on a blanket, and not sit on the carpet, because she thinks their drool will ruin the carpet.
When she holds LO she always keeps her back to me and tries to hide that I'm there. Drives me crazy
I could go on and on !
WOW. People's additctions really do drive weird behavior. And I have no issue with people smoking...do what you want, but come on! 5 miles away??? Wow.
I don't know what I would've done with out her these last few weeks. I've been working a lot of 1st/3rd split shifts and she has done everything she can to make my life easier. Not only does she watch Thomas for me, she comes and gets him, drops him off, keeps him some extra time so I can find time to sleep.
Also, for my birthday on the 18th she surprised me and took me out for a pedicure and dinner at my favorite resteraunt because the money she gave me for my birthday got spent on diapers and formula. I might've cried I was so grateful!
