What kind of cars do you gals drive?

Re: What kind of cars do you gals drive?

  • A 2013 Mazda 5 (the mini, mini-van). I love it, but we're going to be looking for something bigger. 3 car seats plus our stuff, it will be a tight fit. We're probably going to go with a suburban next.

I have a Mazda 3.  I am a little worried about fitting the car seat, stroller, baby bag, and any other items like groceries in it.  It's 4 door but the backseat is kinda a joke.  I really want to upgrade but I get such wonderful gas mileage that I'm going to try to make it work!  Nice to hear all of these suggestions though!
I had a mazda 3 when DS1 was born, and loved it! Everything fit just fine- we didn't keep the stroller in there all the time, only when we needed it- so groceries and all that fit no problem. We used the chicco keyfit car seat, and it fit well in the back seat. I loved that car!
  • Wow, I'm the first one with a Ford Fusion!  It's a 2012 and I love it.  The backseat is VERY roomy and the trunk is huge.  I joked when we looked at it that I could easily fit 3 or 4 bodies in there.  I remember that's how my grandfather used to "measure" trunks.  Anyway, DH has a 2005 Ford Explorer that we can use for camping and road trips quite easily.  We don't usually take the pups camping, unfortunately, DH doesn't think they can handle it.  Anyway, no plans to upgrade either vehicle in the near future!

  • I drive a honda pilot and LOVE it! Third row seating and pretty good on gas.
  • I have a 2013 Ford Fusion. I hope its big enough for a baby!

Honda crv fits two car seats and all our crap (strollers, backpacks, all my outdoor gear) and makes it everywhere (I'm an outdoor junkie in ak). Love my crv.
  • I have a ford explorer. Definitely thinking of upgrading. I already have two in booster seats so I don't see how a RF infant seat will be fitting I between. And every other weekend my step daughter visits so it's just not going to work.Plus this truck sucks on mpg. I'm paying almost $100 to fill my tank. Wanting something with a third row ASAP.

I drive a 2007 fusion and I can back you up on the trunk space! The back seat is also pretty roomy. I bought it new and have never had a problem with it. I still.love it.

  • We currently have the CRV and I love my car, but we are going to get the new honda pilot since this will be our third. We can't fit a booster and two carseats in the CRV :(( still excited because the pilots are awesome!
  • I drive a Nissan Rogue! I love it, its plenty big for junk and carseats! Great on gas too!!

  • I have 3 kids already and one on the way. I drive a suburban and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's also super convenient when my older kids invite friends with them.
  • I drive a 2008 chevy Impala, and while I love my car it does have it's issues and we are probably going to upgrade my car before the baby arrives. My SO drives a coupe that he just purchased so well see how that goes for him as far as putting in a car seat :>

I drive a 1997 Audi A4. We are talking about whether we can afford something newer/larger but used, or a lease. DH drives a 2000 Ford Truck. Ugh, we have very old cars :(

  • I call her Big Red or Ruby. She is my F150 pick-up truck and my first brand new vehicle I ever bought. Sometimes it is nice to have had to grow up because your toys get bigger and better. Oh, and it's kid friendly too! At least I think so. ;)
Do you have other children, how do you find it? I just got a Chevy Silverado. My husband drives the Chevy Cruz cause its stick shift and I'm not crazy about driving it. I love my truck and I really thought we were all done in the baby department so I never thought twice when he suggested it. I'm just a little bit nervous on how it'll be to get the baby in and out.
  • Ford escape. Love the back up camera.
  • Right now, I have a Japanese Nissan Cube.  However, when we move back to the states, we have a Mini Cooper.  Definitely will be buying a new car as soon as we get back.

FlutterOfYoshis - What year is your Celica. I have one, mine is a 2000. I feel the same about driving it in the snow. I am going to have a hard time getting rid of it. It was the first car I bought on my own.
@JNettie73 My Celica is a 2005, bought used. I know how you feel--I'm definitely attached to my little sports car in spite of its issues in winter weather lol. I'm working on trying to rationalize how much safer I/we will be in a new car. We're looking at the Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4, Subaru Outback, and Nissan Rogue. I'll be trying to find the "cool" things about each one as we test drive this month so it feels less like I'm giving up my "cool car" and more like I'm getting a bigger toy with better gadgets haha!

@FlutterofYoshis - I was looking at the Rogue and toyed with the idea of the Rav4. I also like the Toyota Venza. I have not had the opportunity to test drive the Venza yet but did with the Rogue and Rav4. So far the Rogue is my favorite. I agree about the gadgets. So much has changed since I bought my car 14 years ago. It will definitely be fun.

  • Anyone have an Acura MDX? I have always liked it and we have two sedans now. We have two large dogs, so we're thinking we will need a truck when the baby comes. Looking for something with three rows. Our baby was conceived through IUI, so it is possible we will get twins next time when we try again.
  • I always said, that I would NEVER own a minivan.  Then I had kids and rented one, and I must admit, with #3 on the way, I may join the minivan club.

I currently drive a RAV4, and love it.  We are a one car household at the moment.  Well, technically, we have the take home police car that DH drives.  We have needed a second car for a long time.  I want to keep the RAV4, since I do home visiting for work and it's a 4 cylinder and super good on gas, and good in the snow.

But two car payments scare me.  I just can't decide if I want the Honda Odyssey or the Toyota Sienna.  I guess I should test drive both to make a decision.  But if any moms out there drive one or the other, could you let me know pluses/minuses of both?  TIA!

  • I drive a 2010 A4. Living in the northeast, the all wheel drive is a must. It has a pretty roomy back seat and large trunk. Plus, all the bells and whistles don't hurt either :)

My hubby has 2010 Escalade--pleanty of room for everyone including the two doggies.

Thankfully, we both work from home or else gas would probably throw a wrench into our lifestyle.

  • I have a Chevy traverse and I love it!! It has captain chairs in the middle for easy access to the 3rd seat. It's perfect for a family of 6!
