Gender revealing?

We did the cake revealing A few years ago. We seen the balloons that you see a color when you open the box... Is there anything besides these two that are a little better or more orginal?

I saw a couple who had a giant white balloon filled with (blue) confetti that they popped to announce they were having a boy.

My cousin got a large bunch of pink and blue balloons and she and her H popped one at a time until the last one (pink) was remaining to tell everyone they were having a girl.

Those are the only ones I've seen other than the cake or box of balloons.

I've seen people use gum balls and blow the bubble that is the color.

If you look on Pinterest, they have these awesome candle reveals! They start out all white- then the wax will turn pink or blue after you burn them a while!! We plan on sending them to family :-)

My sister did ice cream cones last minute because they had to. The place they ordered the cake from didnt make it. BIL went to pick up the cake that morning and there was no cake.

They used cones, vanilla as top scoop and blue ice cream on the bottom of cone. Everyone raced to lick their cones to see who would see first. It was cute.

We are totally doing a cake. Mainly because I love cake and will take any excuse to eat it. Also, because babies are awesome and I have several family members and close friends who will be excited to find out.

We are planning to do a family dinner towards the end of the month and reveal the gender at that point. I kind of wanted to find out with everyone else (and just give the sealed envelope to the bakery), but my BF said there is no way he can wait, lol. We are leaning towards the cake idea (maybe in the shape of a question mark) and pink/blue cupcakes as a "teaser". I also want to come up with a quick game to have everyone guess what the baby is before the big reveal. I'm SO looking forward to this!!

I've seen people cover up pink or blue colored silly string and then spray them at each other to find out.

I've seen the white shirt and the s/o dipping his/her hand in blue or pink paint. Then placing hands on the baby bump.

Also seen the blowing a handful of pink or blue glitter.

Krispy Kreme doughnuts will put blue or pink filling in their doughnuts. That is what I would like to do. Our DD loves KK and I have been seeing the little sign for those cute doughnuts. I think it would be fun to do those.....so pretty much like a cake!

We haven't decided how we are going to reveal the gender yet. I was to do something special and unique, like the color changing candle idea, because no one else in my family has done that. However, hubby really wants to do a cake because he loves cake and one of our friends is begging us to do the cake for our baby shower. So, I don't know what we are going to end up doing, but we'll figure it out! I like all these different ideas though, gets the cogs in my brain moving!

I'm going to do a scavanger hunt for my family to find out the gender. The scavenger hunt will end in their backyard with covered silly string for them to spray, which will be green. When they are confused and mad at that point, we will then reveal the sex with something. Haven't thought that far yet. LOL

I just know my family is a bunch of practical jokers, so the hunt and the green string will definitely get them.
