Re: PPD check in - July 27

  • How old is LO? Almost 12 weeks. Time is flying

Any updates on diagnosis, medication or appointments you want to share?

    Nothing new to report

Any new PPD symptoms? Any that have gone away or better/worse? I would say it was another good week for the most part but still some rough moments. I am still light years away from how I felt a couple months ago and would say I feel 96 percent back to my old self but those small moments that are still with me are terrible and scary.

    Rants/raves?

Rant: I wish my daughter would sleep. I am somewhat convinced that's half my ppd problem is no sleep. But then I would still have my insomnia soooooo

Rave: I started work half days this week and go back full time this coming week. I love my job so I am pumped to get back to it. Also think it will help with the PPD. My DH also got me flowers this week for "no reason". He's never done that. I had a sad morning that day with first day at daycare.

How are you taking care of yourself this week?

As part of the half days at work my kids were in daycare so I also scheduled a pedicure on one day and a massage on another before picking them up. Both were fabulous.

What has surprised you the most about PPD?

Even though I have come out on here I still only have my DH and one friend that know about my ppd. So even though I have support I have been surprised how lonely I can still feel on this PPD journey simply because I think it's such an individual experience and so hard for someone else to truly understand what you are feeling and that there isn't really a reason for it, it just is what it is.

    Questions for the group/anything else?

Hope you all have a great week.

  • How old is LO?
    He is 12 weeks today!

Any updates on diagnosis, medication or appointments you want to share?
Nothing new, haven't seen a doctor in a while.

Any new PPD symptoms? Any that have gone away or better/worse?
Not really new symptoms, just annoying. Last week I went on a mini vacation to see my parents one state away with the baby. Husband had to work, so it was just us. We had such a great time! I missed my husband terribly, but a week out in the fresh air was wonderful for me, and being around my mom and dad again was so nice. It was really hard to say goodbye to them.

    Rants/raves?
I'm super sad that I will be going back to work next week. I quit my pre-pregnancy job that i loved, and interviewed and accepted a new (part-time) position that I think will be ok. I just can't shake the guilt that I'm already feeling for going to work and leaving my son. My mother in law will watch him, and I totally trust her but I can't help but feel like it should be ME taking care of him.

My husband also just got laid off from his job, so I'm feeling super anxious/depressed about what that means for our future as far as money and medical insurance for our son. He will have his check-ups that he should be going to, and without insurance, I'm just not sure how we will manage.

How are you taking care of yourself this week?
Hmm... I'm not I guess. I have bought a few new clothes for my new job, but even though that would normally make me super happy, it just makes me feel sad.

What has surprised you the most about PPD?
The intensity and the quickness when it hits. I can be feeling ok one minute, and the next I'm  complete mess. I hate feeling that way and not knowing what to do about it. And the fact that nobody really understands why I feel like I do.

    Questions for the group/anything else?
Sorry I've been MIA the past few weeks, but I'm looking forward to participating more often again!

    9 weeks

Any updates on diagnosis, medication or appointments you want to share?
I am still on 50mg of Zoloft, but my dr is considering doubling that. I am also taking 1mg of Ativan 3 times daily. Tomorrow I am entering a program for PPD that is very intensive, I'm a bit nervous about it, but feel like I have to do it.

Any new PPD symptoms? Any that have gone away or better/worse?
I have some really good days/moments, but then I have terrible panic attack moments too.

    Rants/raves?
Rant: I lost my engagement ring and wedding band... I haven't been myself and don't really know how it happened but they are gone. I feel like I have moments where I go blank and I blame that. I don't know if it's the meds or the PPD or both, but my memory and thought process is off.
Rave: people who "get" it like my BFF who had it 5 yrs ago and as soon as she knew I was going through it, immediately showed up at my door with take out from our favorite restaurant and spent hours talking with me.

How are you taking care of yourself this week?
Spending more time out in the sun.

What has surprised you the most about PPD?
How up and down it can be

    Questions for the group/anything else?
Just wishing everyone the best this week!

  • LO is 12 weeks

Any new PPD symptoms? Any that have gone away or better/worse?
I relapsed a little last week. Just felt angry, negative and overall in poor spirits. I'm ok now, but that was a reality check for me that this isn't over.

    Rants/Raves
Been back to work for 3 weeks now and it's helped me out a lot. I can really enjoy the time with my son after I go pick him up.

DH stays home on Monday and Thursday which is awesome. He just wants to be a part of our sons life and do everything he can for our family.

How are you taking care of yourself this week?
I really need to get back into Pilates but my motivation is lacking in this area. My back is killing me on a daily basis and it would help if I went back to working out, but I've been dealing with the pain for a decade so it's nothing new to me.

What has surprised you the most about PPD?
The intensity of it at times. How it just takes you over.

    Questions for the group/anything else?
I hope you ladies find going back to work as good and rewarding and therapeutic as I did.

    Have a great week!
